The tuner, Mark Hitrick, was extremely professional and friendly and did great work on our piano for a fair price. We're well outside his normal area of operation, but he scheduled the work during a time when he was coming to the area to service another client. The difference in the piano's sound before and after this tuning was night and day. It's actually fun to play the piano again. Mark also glued ivory key tops (which I supplied) onto keys that were missing their tops, so the piano looks a whole lot nicer now, too. His work was very neat and tidy. Since that initial tuning, Mark has been back twice for fine tuning, improving both the sound and the action of the piano even further. I only wish he were closer to New York City so he could tune our home piano as well.

Needing a minimum $100 amount of work for a job (their cleaning prices are per item and posted online), I added our leather couch which originally was a rich chocolate brown but had turned a faded red color. Thinking it needed to be cleaned and moisturized, I added that on for a total of $145. I picked a time online using their website and waited a week for them to show up. They sent me a confirmation email almost immediately, which was nice. But then they never showed up. I called them and talked to someone who said that they were having computer problems and my order was never processed. Forwarding to them their original confirmation email showed I had a job on order, but they rescheduled for another week or so out. I asked for another confirmation email which I never received. They then showed up early on the appointed day (which I didn't mind, but some might) and started on the leather couch. They told me that they tried to work on it but the discoloration was neither due to dirt nor drying out. Meaning, they couldn't do anything. They offered to refund my money paid for that, but that would have put my order under $100. So, I could pay for them to do cleaning work that wouldn't actually do anything, they could leave without touching the loveseat, or they could add on features to their loveseat job to make it $100 (or, I guess, just charge me $100 for that). We added "Teflon spray" to the loveseat and I guess it worked out. The loveseat does look better, and it was beat up to begin with, but I am pretty disappointed with the experience. I appreciate that they weren't late the second time, and didn't charge me for unnecessary work, but the RSVP mix up and then requiring me to add on stuff instead of just saying "we messed up the first time, so just pay for the loveseat cleaning and we will waive our $100 minimum job amount" is a bit annoying. I think I would call them again, but I am not in a rush to do so.

I called them and they immediately started to process a dispatch to work on my problem. The team of 2 arrived within an hour. Evan and Eli were AMAZING! They quickly identified what needed to be done and gave me an approximate time frame and went to work. They moved a substantial amount of personal belonging out of the impacted areas and removed all obstructions and then mopped and disinfected everything - thoroughly! (Tho, sadly, they did not have a Spires, which is the one I am still looking for.) We were able to try several pedals. My partner has been seriously looking for a looping pedal for as long as I've known her, so we saw that they had a few, and they were gracious enough to set them up for us to try (even the Electro-Harmonix one that they said was not very intuitive (Guess which one we ended up with.) They were VERY friendly, but at the same time did not hover over us. They let us spend about an hour playing with different pedals, talked about the shop, and guitars, and loopers, several customers came in and out, and all three of the guys behind the counter worked on some repairs. (They are a very repair centric shop.) The layout is a bit tight, but it's cozy. They have comfy seating, and really nice displays. It feels crowded, and it is, but it's in that... Clean and homey sort of way. They don't have a HUGE selection... It is not going to be an experience like guitar center. But it's going to give you that caring and dedicated local shop experience. And that's so much better. The prices were GOOD. (The looper ended up being cheaper than Amazon.) He even gave us each a EarthQuaker Devices sticker. (Before we even bought anything.) These guys are an Earthquaker licensed shop, too, so if you're looking for those pedals, this is a place to go.

He is knowledgeable about the music journey and genuinely interested in your journey. I met Michael in the Albany store when I was looking for a trumpet mouthpiece. Since that purchase I have purchased 2 trumpets (one in Albany and one in Clifton Park) sheet music, instruction books and some new mutes. Michael and the entire Keal music staff are very helpful and genuine. I would recommend Michael and Keal to anyone who wants a first class experience. My experiences exceeded all expectations.
