I come here for the Falafel sandwich with Amba that is %100 authentic something I have only had in Iraq. for that reason I give them 5 stars. In addition to that, They have kubba, borek and other homemade stuff they make and sell at the shop. I was a little bit skeptical about eating hot food from a small convienence store (re The Simpsons), but I was pleasantly surprised. My coworkers raved about it and suggested two falafel sandwiches (same sandwich). My manager picked up the sandwiches so I was not able to see the shop (maybe another time). The falafel and the bread was good, but the sandwich was not that great. It was really wet and made the already soft bread and veggies soggy really fast. A year ago this place was one of my favorite places, but after getting treated rudely by the two persons in the kitchen, I decided that this is my last time coming to that place. I feel bad for how unhappy they are, treating customers poorly. I ordered two sandwiches, I spoke Arabic to the two cooks, but they wouldn't reply to me. This place doesn't even deserve the one star. It's more like a -5 star. It is chaotic and filthy. I had an unforgettable experience my first and last time there. I was buying lunch for my colleagues, so I went in and politely ordered 20 sandwiches after standing in front of the restaurant workers for about 5-10 minutes and no one would even look at me or greet me. After successfully placing my order, I stepped aside and politely waited for my order to be prepared. I stood there for 30 minutes watching about 10 other customers walk in and order 1 or 2 sandwiches at a time. All of them walked out with their food orders while I was still waiting there. After I'd exhausted my patience, I walked closer and asked the lady behind the counter about why other customers that had placed orders after I did were being called while I was still waiting? Her response was that "the other customers all had smaller orders and she wasn't going to make anyone wait if they wanted one or two of the same sandwiches that were prepared for me". Think about it....based on this type of high level customer service, I could've waited there all afternoon for them to complete my order :) I asked to speak to the manager because I couldn't believe what this lady was saying, and by the way, I was speaking to them in Arabic, so no misunderstanding there. The manager/owner walked over from the kitchen or the backroom and said to me "Ha Shako?", a derogatory way of saying "what's going on?", especially when speaking to a customer. I expressed my frustration to the manager and told him that I'd never experienced such a thing. His response was: "this is what we have, and if you don't like it, take your business somewhere else".....so I did by driving a block away to Ali Baba restaurant (highly recommended), and here I am on Yelp :) There are plenty of good authentic Mediterranean restaurants within a walking distance or short driving distance of this trashy place. The new Sajj restaurant or Sahara in the Rancho San Diego area are two of my favorite restaurants with great American customer service. read more

Okay, I am prepared to share my all time favorite middle eastern food place! This is no doubt about it, a hole in the wall. But inside, you will find a treasure that you will not stop coming back too! So the parking is small. Very small. But next door there is a fenced area where you can park. It is half convenience store and the other half sells hot food. First, you go up to the hot food counter and order what you want. Here's what they have, beef and chicken shwarma that is super juicy and tender, freshly made in front of you, piping hot falafel and they make their own bread in an oven right in front of you! They also sell kabob for $1 each and the flavor is perfect! The bread goes from the oven and right to a container to be sold. The bread is 5 for $1 and so is their falafel! Beef shwarma- $6.99 a pound. Chicken shwarma- $4.99 a pound. After you order, you get your food and wait in line by the cash register. They ring you up and you get to go home and enjoy.
