They did a total overhaul of my Kenmore 1970s sewing machine. It was made when companies still used metal parts and it is a real workhorse. But I didn't keep up with maintenance since I only used it occasionally. My bad! When I picked it up, I had the young woman step through each of the functions I knew needed work. I needed an emergency repair on a Janome. Travel Mate 30 sewing machine near the end of the day on Dec 26, 2024. As they would be closing in about 30 minutes, I got in my car and rushed down as fast as I could. I was helped by Meli who found the part I needed, removed the broken one, and installed the new one before the store closed. She was so friendly, with a nice smile on her face the whole time, as well as professional and so knowledgeable, considering how many different brands and models of machines there are. Wonderful service! I hauled my old singer into the store because I couldn't figure out after a couple hours of trying why it wasn't working properly. The owner ask me what type of fabric I was sewing on and suggested a different needle which he sold me. I took the machine back home and Voila!!!!....it worked perfectly! He could've suggested a complete overhaul costing me a lot more than the $8 I spent on the new needles, but instead told me to try the new different needles first. What a guy!!!! Today was Customer Appreciation Day at Kingdom Sewing! Now it is time to show appreciation to Tim, Gina, and the rest of their staff - teachers, repair people - who make this a wonderful place to shop. After my old store closed down some 30 miles away, and I myself moved, by chance I came across Kingdom Sewing when I needed some service on a machine. This was easily more than 10 years ago. I haven't looked back or looked for another shop, and I was a loyal fan of my old sewing machine shop for years. I am a fan of Kingdom, too. Here, at Kingdom, I found the same sense of service on a personal and professional level. It is so wonderful to find people who love what they do, are knowledgeable, and patient, too, to boot. I have a lot of sewing machines - old ones especially - and they do need work from time to time. The same with my computerized sewing machines. When I needed a lightweight, portable computerized sewing machine for classes, I went through a couple of computerized ones I bought from Tim, but if I did not like it, Tim helped me try something else until I finally bought my Janome. Such patience! You won't get this online at all. But - it's not just sewing machines. I bought a serger here and got a great deal and so much help when I had questions - just a phone call. I also just bought an embroidery machine, and both Tim and Gina helped me over about 90 minutes to not only understand the machine, but to get the correct things necessary to get started. I also have a beautiful Koala sewing table, and it was delivered to my home and set up as well. Rather than buy on Amazon or some other online store, if you can, come to Simi Valley and visit Kingdom Sewing. There have been a few gripey reviews here, but those were written by people who probably assumed things and did not ask questions to clarify their needs, such as hours or cost for a repair. I have never had a negative experience here, and am more than happy to take the time to travel to this wonderful small business which provides service and education with a smile and more than a bit of good will. read more

After Emailing and talking on the phone about how I cannot get to their store before it closes at 5 pm they offered up the fact that they have Saturday hours... BUT NEVER ONCE MENTIONED THAT THEY CLOSE AT 3 PM ON SATURDAY. So since I had been talking about not being able to arrived before 5 pm I assumed they were also open til 5 pm on Saturday. You think someone would have mentioned that at some point! So I drove all the way out to this shop (on a pretext so my wife would not get suspicious) and arrived at 3:12 pm only to find them closed and locked up, not a soul in sight. Thanks for wasting well over an hour of my Saturday and destroying any chance of attaining an integral part of my Christmas gift to my wife. You guys REALLY suck. Seriously.... You SUCK! read more

Incredible people there ... Tim, Gina ... Pete. I have been a customer of Kingdom for about 11 years now since I purchased my first real, professional quality sewing machine. I got a great price, free one on one time to get me started, and were only a phone call away if I had a question after the sale. They are very well informed about the different brands of machines out there (even those they no longer carry) and will really help you find the best machine for you. I recently purchased a new machine and while I don't regret the purchase - at all - I struggled w/ the learning curve on the new machine. Both Tim and Gina have been great and helped me, over the phone and in person, do something that I just couldn't figure out since the new machine is so different than my last one. I absolutely love Pete, as well. He has been the mechanic there ... since forever ... and he is not only the best out there, he is also incredibly honest. On my old machine, it acted up and I thought it would require a repair. It had a little blob of lint underneath and as soon as it was plucked out and blown out, the machine was perfect again. If you are new to sewing, go here. Get an education on machines - cost, price, features, etc. They will guide you to towards a machine that will be good for you and your skill level. Don't waste your money on a big name junk machine at a big box store. They are that now, junk. You'll end up being disappointed in the machine and how it sews. Don't go drop your hard earned cash at a "sewing center" which sits inside the store at one of the big fabric stores. Those women are often only versed in the one brand and are on commission. I have found they are far more helpful if they think you are buying something. If not, stop by and ask them a question about "how do I do "this" on my machine" and even if it is just you and them in the department, they are not interested in teaching you, showing you, and getting your confidence up, past the roadblock, and enjoying your machine and sewing. You will not go wrong .. at all .. .with Kingdom. I cannot say enough great things about them and their service -- is so above and beyond what you get anywhere today - it's reminiscent of the way business used to be done. With "customer service" as the first goal. After that, everything else just happens and life long customer relationships are born. read more

I have been sewing face masks for several Days straight now because of Covid 19 My little hobby machine stopped working I called and spoke with Tim the owner he spent some time trying to trouble shoot my machine with me over the phone to find out the mother board was going. So happy I stumbled upon Kingdom Sewing in Simi! After making umpteen masks and falling down a rabbit hole of quilting, I first upgraded from a bought-at-Joann's Brother Simple sewing machine to a Babylock Jubilant which I loved and was able to get at Kingdom, with great customer service from the get-go. I took my old school Singer Stitch and Sew in for specific repairs and a maintenance check. From our initial phone conversation, to speedy work and my pick up, this place left me in awe. 1. Customer service is/was exemplary! Tim taught me more about the workings of my machine, keeping it clean, and how to oil it. I learned more in 30 minutes than I had ever known. 2. Follow through, quick turn around, and a clean, refurbished machine left me speechless. I couldn't thank them enough. 3. Tim then went on to teach me about needles. I didn't know there were so many variations of needles! Who knew!! This place is IT for sewing machine repair and I imagine their vacuum cleaner repair is just as good. 4. Price was reasonable for the quality of work. I left with a feeling of nostalgia because I remember what customer service, in general, used to be. I purchased a moderately expensive Bernini sewing machine from them about 1 year ago. They promised good service and quick repairs when bringing my machine to them after the sale. Today was the first time I have needed to bring it in as it would not sew. A young girl checked me in and was very short and not interested in helping me. She did not ask to see what was wrong she only wanted to fill out her paperwork and send me on my way. I had to tell her it was purchased there and when. I explained that I was in the middle of a project and needed it back as soon as possible. She quickly said that was not going to happen, still not asking to see what it was doing. Her attitude was that I was bothering her and she just wanted my machine and not to provide any service. She said the service person was very busy and she did not know when I will get it back. So far I am not impressed by there lack of interest to provide customer service to previous customer. Oh and just a side not I drive from Camarillo to them because I was told they were a family business and were known for their customer service. When I get my machine back I will probably need to find another shop. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I took my mother in law with her sewing machine to have it repaired it made a weird noise. She was told she needed the pedal so we came back with it. Later when she went to pick it up the man told her it was repaired and didn't make the noise. She was charged $186 and when we got it home and the noise was worse and her pedal was cracked almost in half. We went back again and the man was so rude and disrespectful to both of us and my mother in law is a senior and I felt it was uncalled for. We took it elsewhere and they promptly fixed it. They customer service was just wrong. Don't do business here if you want respect and honesty. read more

I was working on some custom orders when my starter sewing machine pedal failed. I ended up ordering another one off amazon and told myself I'd have to wait a few days-I didn't really think I necessarily needed a new machine quite yet. I called and spoke to Tim on the phone and he told me about some machines that had really cool functions that were within my budget, so I went down later that day. Gina was so nice and helpful, and went over all of the different features of several machines with me. I ended up with a beautiful Janome and I could not be happier! This place is really the best!! I recently bought a Babylock sewing machine and dealt with Gina at this location. I had met Tim, the owner, at their Northridge store. They are both awesome to deal with and talk to!. Gina took the time to go through all the functions of the machine I was going to buy and didn't rush me at all. One of the best things about Kingdom Sewing is they do not have a hard sell approach at all and they won't try to sell you something you don't need. They take the time to listen to your needs and help you find the best machine to fit them. I did shop around before purchasing and their prices are very fair and reasonable. But I really liked the fact that it's so easy to deal with them and the after purchase support they give you is great as well. If I have a question about my machine, I can call them anytime. I've known the owner Tim for over 20 years. I've bought all my machines from him and wouldn't go to anyone else (I own 5 different machines). His customer service is superb, his equipment servicing cannot be beat, He has lots of accessory supplies for the sewing machines, quilting machines and sergers, and holds great classes. Gina was both experienced and supportive in answering questions and ordering accessories. She even brought in a cover stitch educator to support customers who had purchased this machine. Six months later when it became apparent that this machine was not going to work for my daughter and I, Tim exchanged our machine and accessories for brand new machines that would work better for us. I love this store! I am new to quilting and machine embroidery. After "playing" with my old Viking Designer SE limited for a while at home, I decided to upgrade to a new machine. I have been researching and looking at different machines, prices and stores. Finally last month I found the perfect place at Kingdom! I bought my new Baby Lock Destiny 2 not only it was the best offer in price, but I felt comfortable with the staff and support that they offer. I already attended a quilting class to learn how to use the IQ program in the machine and today I went to their Quilting Expo, it was awesome - Love my goody bag and books! Tired of all the dust that is inherent to life in Simi Valley, we decided to do the research, spend a little more, and get a really good vacuum. With our price range and requirements in mind, it looked like Miele was going to fit our needs the best. So we searched for a local place that sold Miele and found Kingdom Sewing and Vacuum in Simi. We walked in an hour before closing with kids in tow and met Tim, the owner. Tim started by asking us about our house and our floors and then made various recommendations, never pressuring us one way or the other, just giving us the facts and his personal experience with this or that vacuum or feature (which was extensive). Tim is very knowledgeable and is very up-front about what you're paying for with one model vs the more expensive option. This was my first time going to a vacuum store (as opposed to buying one from a big-box store) and I don't think I could ever go back. The knowledge and attention Tim gave us, as well as the quality of his products really can't be matched by the larger stores. I had expected it to be a little more expensive, but his prices are very competitive with what we had seen on Amazon and he does price matching. In the end, the vacuum we picked was actually significantly cheaper than we could have ever found it online. For us, the clinching factor was that we got to take the vacuum home for the evening and vacuum our whole house with it. We loved it and bought it the next day, but we also had the option of trying out several other vacuums in our own home - something we certainly could not have done through one of the bigger retailers. For the quality of service, the prices they offer, and the products they offer, you'd have a tough time beating this place - highly recommended. read more
