Got a brand new Speed Queen washer and dryer for Christmas, literally spent almost $4,000 on both. My father-in-law came to deliver it and help install it since my husband just had surgery. As we were opening the box we noticed the box was damaged but didn't think anything of it. We continued installing it and almost immediately noticed a decent size dent on the back portion of the washer but we figured it would be fine. Once installed, I was told to run the washer with water only to basically break it in and allow the belts to settle into their spot. So that's exactly what we did (mind you my father in law has the exact same washer and dryer that he also bought from Johnny). The washer was running great until it reached spin cycle, let me tell you when it started to spin I thought our house was going to shake loose. The washer made this god awful noise like something inside was going bust out the side, it was also rattling so bad the TV on our wall was shaking. We immediately got up and took a video as we cancelled the cycle. We called Johnny and told him what was going on and he brushed it off saying that it was normal and that it would resolve itself after another run through....so we ran it again with water only and once again it felt like an earthquake. The following day my father in law went down to the store and was told by Johnny that it needed to be leveled with water in it and that would fix the issue. He came back and we used a leveler just to realize that the washer was leveled with and without water....called them again for what felt like the 45th time and finally had their mechanic come out. He came to the house and was blowing smoke saying that the belts just needed to be adjusted, we tried sowing him the video and he directly told us "I don't need to see that." He began by running the washer, he was incredibly rude to my husband when he asked us what we wanted to do and we told him to just get us a new washer because we had not even had it for a day and we were having so many issues. We even told him about the dent and all he kept saying is that they wouldn't give us a new washer and they would just replace the panel. Really??? Replace the panel??? After we have spent literally almost $10,000 at your store in appliances in less then a year!!!!!!!! All you have to offer is taking our washer apart and already replacing parts...come on! After he ran and notice it was still doing that god awful sound he pulled the front panel off and saw something and immediately went outside to call the store...After the conversation he came back in and informed us to not use the washer and that they would replace it. Got the new washer and it's a dream!!! Gave them one star for their rude behavior, their lies and lack of understanding. Had to pull teeth and argue to get out money worth but I for one would not do business with them again. read more

I was trying to remove the tub from my washing machine. The job required a special tool. I was having a difficult time finding it. I called Johnny's and inquired if he sold it. He said no, however for a small deposit he would lend it to me. A total lifesaver. If you find yourself in need of appliance repair. Shop Simi first. There is a lot to be said about real service and pride in workmanship that you don't get with the big box stores. Johnny's has sold and installed both a stove and a dishwasher for us and both times the experience was perfect. We have used Best Buys and the installers just dropped off the appliance and left. We had to get another set of installers to finish the job. If you're afraid you will spend more at a small local store, get over it. A few more dollars is worth your piece of mind the appliance and the job will work correctly. read more

My experience stops at the store because the people at Johnny's apparently have no idea how to do sales. I had many questions to which I received half-hearted answers, no guidance, no assistance in helping me with selections. It was a kind of "well, you can see what's here on the floor, and I have this stuff in this catalog if you want..." The place is badly organized with limited stock on the floor and rather surly guys that did not care at all about rapport with me. While I really wanted to give a "little guy" a chance, they did not earn my business. Lowe's did, and they did it with superior products, superior pricing, and superior sales staff. read more

I had an issue where my washer filled up with water and just stopped. Wouldn't start the washing cycle, so it was just stuck. I like tinkering around and think I'm pretty handy, so I try tinkering around, but have no luck. I figure it has to be a switch of some sort, so I hear Johnny's is the go to guy in the area. Honest and reliable. I call them up and they can send out someone the next day for a $69 service call. Thinking I can fix it myself I ask if they have the part and they tell me typically that's the problem and it's pretty easy to replace. I figure I might as well try that out and save the service call. Low and behold swapped it out and it works just like new. I can't comment on the service call or any of their technicians, but as a store they had my part and offered free advice on the phone. I would go back for service if there was anything I couldn't fix myself. read more

Since the pandemic apparently there is a shortage on upright freezers. When ours started to die in the garage I had no luck with the big box stores and decided to go local, called Johnny's in a few hours we had a brand new freezer. Highly recommended. read more

Johnny's was the only (local) place that sold the model of stove top and oven which could fit the spaces left by my antiquated Gaffers and Sattler oven/broiler and stove top combination. We can't afford an entire kitchen remodel - Gaffers and Sattler sizes are VERY small compared to modern appliances - so we had to do our best to find appliances that would work, for a fair price. Johnny, the owner, knew exactly what my problem was and immediately directed me to a Frigidaire set which met our needs. His appliance installation company owned and operated by Milan, was also excellent and clean and did an superior job retrofitting the new appliances into our old spaces, also for a fair price. (Note: although close in size, the Frigidaire brands are still slightly off by 1-2 inches around, but still pretty DARN close!) The only unimpressive thing was the slow follow up. I ordered items which were supposed to be in on a Tuesday, and then I had to call them myself on Wednesday, and learn that the new items would be in on Thursday instead and THEN the appliance company - not the store - called me Friday night to say they had it and were ready to install. That was the only hiccup. Otherwise it'd be a five star for sure. But Johnny's personable manner and his knowledge more than made up for a slight inconvenience. read more

My dryer stopped producing heat. I ask Johnny's to come fix it and they told me it was a part that was easy to replace so I could avoid the service charge and work. They ordered the part, told me how to replace it and it worked. They could have gouged me for the service call and work but didn't. Truly a company that cares more about their clients then their pockets. I have purchased appliances from this place since the 80's as they are very competitive with pricing and it has belonged to two owners in all that time. Clearly they are doing things right. My washing machine is down, called them today and they are coming out today to look at it. I know it is something I can't fix. I will write a review on that outcome. read more

I have used Johnny's twice now. Each time they are available to come out around my hours (late afternoon) which is much appreciated as some companies don't come after a certain time and usually that same day. Each time the problem was diagnosed quickly and fixed just as fast! I would recommend them to anyone! read more

Johnny is the best! If you go to his store he has all kinds of parts for do-it-yourself repairs plus free advice. He repaired my central heater a couple of times over the last 20 years and he diagnosed the problem quickly and have it up and running in a few minutes. Today I called him because my AC stopped working. The compressor wasn't running. He told me to find the fuses (where and what they look like) and bring them to his shop so he can test them. He was right: one fuse was blown and for $4.00 I have my AC working. I highly recommend Johnny!!!!!!! read more

I have had only great experiences with Johnnys from the time I first moved to Simi Valley when I needed just a bit of gas tape. They just gave me some. Then when my dryer stopped working they told me over the phone what was most likely the problem. I removed the part it was simple, brought the part in they tested it and sold me the replacement. My Home Insurance Company wanted me to pay $75.00 co pay the part cost me $12.00 to replace. Its the place to go for sure read more

The people at Johnny's appliance are terrific. I went in for what I thought was a Dryer belt, and turned out to be a bad idler pulley arm that was built into the motor. Johnny and his guys saved me at least a hundred dollars by selling me the piece part and actually removing the old pulley and installing the new one. Saved me from having to buy a whole new motor. My dryer stopped heating and I read that it might just be a fuse. I called Johnny's Appliance and asked if they carried the fuse for Whirlpool. They told me how to remove the fuse, I took it to they, they tested it (it was bad) they sold me another one, replaced it myself and my dryer is working better than ever. This was my only experience with Johnny's, but they were helpful and I hope this was not an isolated experience. read more

After talking to friends, who all recommended Johnny's, I called as I was having problems with my washing machine. they told me to bring the part down and they would look at it. I had a feeling I knew what what the problem was. I brought in the part (agitator), they looked at it, replaced the parts there on the spot and it was fixed. It saved me a service call and they were very nice. It made the wife very happy. read more
