Shoutout to our local community heroes!! This venue was a second location for an amazing restaurant that was closer to the ocean, but now thankfully here closer to me. I loved the history shares with me by manager Donna. She was so very friendly, personable, and enlightening. Not only is this venue a legend, but also smart to have kept Donna on board for @10 years of Faithful service.

Kingfish Grill 504 West Geoffrey Street, St. Augustine, FL 32086 Kingfish Grill offers the convenience of plenty of parking and a polished, coastal setting that initially sets the bar high. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell short of those expectations. Service was the biggest drawback. We waited over 45 minutes for our food, and once it arrived, it was incomplete. I ordered the fresh catch of the day, blackened, but the accompanying Thai spicy sauce never made it to the table. My wife's poke bowl was served without enough sauce, and when we asked for extra, we were told they had already run out. Despite reminding our server, the sauces never arrived. After waiting an additional 15 minutes, we ended up finishing our meals as they cooled--still without the promised accompaniments. Sauces may seem like a small detail, but for dishes like blackened fish and poke bowls, they are essential to the overall flavor. The food itself was average. Not bad by any means, but certainly not memorable. We've had far better fish and poke bowls elsewhere, especially for a restaurant positioned as a seafood destination. The best way to describe the meal is upscale fast-casual rather than a standout dining experience. While Kingfish Grill has potential and a good location, the slow service and lack of attention to detail overshadowed the visit. With improvements in consistency and service, it could be much better--but for now, it didn't meet our expectations.

Son is visiting went to Kingfish for an early dinner. Plenty of parking. Great service and the food was yummy. Sonny had their jalapeño tuna with the fish special. I had the grouper fish sandwich with a side of spinach.

    Shrimp jambalaya soup

My wife and I had dinner this evening. My wife went with her "go to" meal which was the seafood platter grilled. I went with the specials, I had the seafood jambalaya soup as a starter and the seafood stuffed flounder which was stuffed with shrimp, scallops and crab and topped with a sun-dried tomato cream sauce. Both of our meals were delicious. Kudos to the kitchen staff for a wonderful meal. Our experience was enhanced by our server Brandy. She was very attentive and pleasant. Highly recommend to any and all! Lindsay and Linda Johnson

During that initial stay, I walked here a couple of times to pick up treats and they didn't disappoint. Since then it has become a go-to when we have guests visiting and want to have dessert on hand. It is a pretty interior space with desserts and treats galore. They are beautifully made and a treat for all your senses. The staff on my visits have always been so friendly and helpful. (I love the southern hospitality we experience at so many places in St. Augustine.) My favorite treat may just be the cannoli. They are smaller sized than what I am used to back home...but this is good thing! in my opinion. There are an assortment of chocolates, brownies, cookies, some candies, croissants...and a variety of cakes and pies. We are not huge sweets eaters but this place is hard to resist.

The stand outs were the pumpkin flavored desserts including the cheesecake. They were so flavorful, I kept going for more. I also got the raspberry cheesecake which didn't have enough raspberry flavor but had a delicious crust. I will come back here the next time I'm in the area and try more.

I ordered two glasses of Prosecco and she informs me that they are out of Prosecco. What!? I then order a can of IPA and a glass of white wine for my gf, which took way too long to get. Plus my beer wasn't even that cold and her wine wasn't good either. I asked about the cheese tray + wine and she looked confused. I asked her what cheeses came on it and she said she didn't know, but she'd find out, but never did. lol. I came here prepared to buy a bottle of Prosecco and a cheese tray to sit outside and enjoy with my gf but that didn't happen. If you are working at a place you should know the couple things that you do serve and know them very well. There also wasn't any clean glasses for the spa water. The deserts did look good but god forbid I asked either of them a question about them because they would have looked at me befuddled. I highly doubt I'll ever come back here again. Good luck with your questions and selections.

The cake pop was really the only item that drew praise from my crew. Breakfast croissants were "mid" per my teens... I now know what an overdone eggs tastes like. The "pancakes" were thick and more of a biscuit like consistency. Next time, will likely stick to the pastries in the window.

The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

The Bloody Mary is where it lost me. $15 is a serious price for a cocktail, and mine arrived as a tall glass of ice with what was left over poured around it. By the time I was a few sips in, it was mostly meltwater. For that money I'd expect the drink to outlast the ice. Suggestion for the house: given the name, lean into it. Send everyone home with a free bag of ice -- at least then I'd feel like I paid for something I got to keep. Would go back for the food. Would think twice before ordering another cocktail.
