I was visiting from out of town and was craving seafood. I'm so glad I chose this spot because it was perfect! The weather was beautiful so my daughter and I sat outside. There was a live band playing cover songs and that was super fun listening to. There is a big fire pit in the middle, and the outdoor area is spacious. I ordered the seafood boil to share with my 5 yr old daughter and we both loved it! Service was great, no complaints at all. I had one drink , the linen drink which was gin based- it was delicious. Came down for a girls brunch - nothing caught my eye on the brunch menu, so I went with lunch. It was good but not great. Got the shrimp po'boy. We walked in at 10:28 apparently, to the hostess telling us they weren't open for 2 more minutes, so that was awkward might want to keep the doors locked? I waited outside until 10:30 . I didn't order the brunch menu because no sides were listed on the menu- my friends ordered brunch and they all came with home fries - would have been good to know. Anyplace you go that doesn't have a paved walkway or paved parking is the first red flag? Went there Saturday waited 20 minutes still no one came to our took to ask us if we wanted to have a drink? Did a quick run to Home Depot and stumbled upon this place. Told hubby about it and we took the whole family on a random weekday. Lo and behold... It's oyster day, the price was great!! The food was very very good. The oysters were yum! We had the seafood boil, the whole fried snapper, and hush puppies. The plantains were delish! The ambience was very lovely sitting outside. There's an area for the kids to play too which is an added bonus! The only downside was lots of mosquito bites after we left. Had a wonderful dinner at the Boathouse. Sat outside and started with the Sangrias and the chargrilled oysters. Although there was a few small shell pieces in the oysters they were very good. We then had the gator tails, very tender and good. The special of the day was 20 shrimp and a side. We ordered them blackened with the asparagus and split it. Plenty of food. Alex, the hostess, was incredibly sweet and helpful, and the other hostess was just as amazing -- I'm so sorry I didn't catch her name! We had reservations at 2:30 for a party of 11, but with the rain and thunderstorms moving in, our table was outside. I asked Alex if there was any way we could possibly sit inside, and she immediately went above and beyond to help. She walked around to check on available tables and came back to let us know a large table was finishing up and that as soon as it was cleaned, it would be ours. About 15-20 minutes later, we were seated inside. Our waiter, Josh, greeted us with a smile and was extremely friendly and attentive. He quickly took our drink orders, came back with waters for the entire table, and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The service, food, and atmosphere were all amazing. The sangria was like flavored water with little wine, they were out of oysters which we wanted, the Caesar Salad was mush with too much dressing,, not crispy and not chilled! The steamed clams were just ok with the broth. the fried grouper puffs were too salty. We also ordered blackened salmon with cheese grits and a burrata salad . The salmon and burrata were delivered after a 1 1/2 wait, but we lost our appetite, so we cancelled the two items, paid for what we ordered and left, never to return!!! read more

We ate outside on their patio which had a firepit, strung lights and great vibes. I got the lobster roll which was good quality but I feel like the lobster itself was cold and not hot. The Salmon wonton taco surprised me on how much I liked it. One thing that was disappointing was we got bloody marys and mimosas, but were not told they were bottomless till we got our check. I feel like they should've told us this when we sat down/received our first drink. If I were in St. Augustine again I would come back since the food was good and the patio was cute. So oversalted and contained 80% banana pepper 20% calamari. Almost inedible. We got the seafood boil and a shrimp & grits. The boil was delicious and I think it could feed 3. My family used to go to Creekside a while ago, so when we looked it up and saw that there was a new restaurant here called The Boathouse we wanted to try it. We have always loved the back deck overlooking the marsh, it's a perfect view for the sunset. They have live music on Saturday nights I believe but we were there on a Thursday. The restaurant was a little hot inside but as the sun went down it got better. Our server was nice and patient with us since we had such a large party. I got the grouper sandwich and it was solid, the fish was great and tasted fresh but the bun got soggy very quickly. Overall, we enjoyed the Boathouse and will likely be back! read more

We decided to go here for my grandmother's birthday. It was absolutely wonderful from the service to the food to the dessert. We enjoyed so many delicious appetizers, entrées, and the unforgettable bread pudding. We started off with brussels sprouts the grouper bites and the fish dip. All were delicious. I was on a vacation/business trip. Looking for places to take clients and customers too as well as enjoy a good meal with my family that came along on this trip. I like to go to local restaurants to give back to the community business. I was told the Boat House would be great. We arrived at 845pm and were seated outside. 1st problem it was dark on the deck and there was no lighting to even see the menu. We had to use our cell phones to see what to order. We ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers. They came out in 10 mins. We then put our main order in. very simple fish and shrimp times four. 2nd problem the waitress kept trying to sells us more drinks but I wanted food first before I drink to much. A few things happened that should have been warning signs. The live music ended and where gone at 930pm. The wait staff seemed more interested in the dogs that customers brought in and the cat(Oyster is his name and he will eat some of your dinner s what I was told) walking on the tables looking for food. To some this would be fun to a family just wanting a peaceful meal away from pets it was not. 3rd and final problem was the food never arrived after waiting an hour after ordering. The waitress stated the kitchen was slammed. With what? There was only other table sitting on the deck. All the others, 3 total had checks for there food and have been sitting talking for a while. We had enough and instead of just walking out we were going to pay for our drinks and appetizers. I stopped at the front desk and told the person what had happen and we where leaving to go to another restaurant. The manager I assumed stepped in and ask us to stay he was going to take care of the meal. It's now 1010pm. I have a hungry 16yr and 19 yr old from college that want to eat. The wife is not happy either that we waited that long. I refused and try to pay for what we did have. They would not take the payment on the 3rd try to pay I said forget and we left. We ended up going to a national food restaurant had everything from drinks to dinner in 23 mins and this was in a packed restaurant. Unfortunately I will not be back. If this where my clients with me, I would be embarrassed for bringing them here. No excuses for not taking care of the final customers of the night. Get some table lighting so the customer can at least see the menu. Enough with the animals, if I want to eat dinner wit the cats and dogs I would ask for it but its rude to those customers that don't want that during there dinner. read more

We had to wait a bit for a table so we headed to the bar. It had a dead vibe and the bartender seemed off. Weird stuff floating in my draft beer. When we received our table we ordered Brussel sprouts for the appetizer. They were precooked and reheated. Old, dark black and greasy. The beet salad came warm. Meaning the lettuce was warm. The stuffed grouper was lukewarm with a cold crab cake stuffed in the middle. The lobster bisque was over microwaved and too hot. Nothing was exceptional or innovative. I can't believe the good reviews. It was more like the Red Lobster of the historic district. Completely forgettable and unenjoyable. I don't recommend. The waitress was fine but detached as well.
