It's better this way. Try it. Saturday was unusual in that they were short staffed and almost at capacity. The food and service did not suffer. I'm not so sure I'd be that pleasant if I had to serve the entire restaurant on my own. To add to the vibe, I dropped the soy sauce container. Fortunately, me and my light pink shirt were the only casualties, but I made a huge mess. Napkins were thrown my way by other customers. I cleaned the table and floor. Yes, I really went for it. Most of the soy sauce was on me and my shoes. The server apologized she didn't completely wipe up my mess. No worries. It was my fault. Hashi Gawa has become a fave for Dad and I. It should be yours too.

First time trying this spot . Dine in review let's get into it !…read more Me and babe have been on a sushi kick lately since coming back from Japan. He found this place so we went to give it a try. It's in a plaza so there's parking . When you walk in it's a cute store front . Modern but cozy . Customer service was nice and fun . Our waitress was very helpful . Oysters on the half shell were fresh. Yall know that's my favorite and I'll never tell no lies ! The sauce they put on it was a nice touch and not overbearing the fresh oyster taste ! Tempura has a nice crispy batter and the prawns were plump not skimpy or chewy . I also got the Santa Barbara hand roll because I really wanted uni but they don't sell uni as an appetizer. The hand roll itself was good nice flavor loved the salmon eggs , just wish there was more uni ( probably because that's what I really wanted lol I'm being honest okay ). But the star of the show for me was the SPICY LION KING ROLL . I've had plenty of lion king rolls throughout the years but never had a spicy one and it was bomb . I think what makes it spicy is the sauce they use . Wasn't too hot just an extra little kick to everything going on . We were sitting right next to the sushi makers and they overheard us talking about how good it was and they loved our vibe . We chatted and got to a point they gave us a free dessert which was so good ! I forgot the name but it was like a soft fluffy pancake filled with cold cream like vanilla ice cream ! I'd definitely give them a try and would come again .

The rolls were super fresh and the crab meat was real crab, which was a pleasant surprise. Balance of flavors was definitely there! Also ordered some edamame on the side and it was perfect! The staff is super friendly! Really appreciated how nice they were, and the service is fast (there was not a lot of people when I came in so keep in mind). The overall atmosphere was very calm and relaxing - when I came in I hadn't had a good day but my mood changed instantly. Overall will be visiting again, it has been hard to find a good sushi place in the city but we will start driving to the island and eat here!

We stopped in for dinner with some out-of-town family during the Christmas holiday, and the whole experience was utterly delightful. The staff were warm and welcoming, the ambiance was pleasant, and (most importantly) the food was EXCELLENT. I neglected to get pics of everything we ordered, but my Tofu Don (teriyaki tofu with ground pork and eggs over rice) was incredibly tasty - the perfect "comfort food" for a cold rainy evening. I can't say enough about how lovely and kind the staff were. They went way beyond simply taking our order and serving our food - rather, they made us feel like family, treated us to dessert, and even sent us home with a small bottle of sake as a thank you for dining with them. This place is new and probably a bit under the radar at the moment, but it really deserves to become one of the must-try joints in Alameda. Check it out ASAP!

I love that you can now scoop as much tempura flakes and green onions as you want, which makes it even better. The tempura selection is huge, so you really can't go wrong no matter what you pick. Big fan of the self-serve tempura sauce and ginger too--it's nice being able to customize everything exactly how you like it. They've got plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, which makes it convenient whether you're dining in or just grabbing a quick bite. Quick, customizable, and consistently good--definitely a solid go-to spot!

The restaurant itself also felt dirty and not well maintained. The rice was extremely sticky and cold. I politely asked if they could just add a little sauce over the rice, but the staff said they couldn't do that and instead offered to make a whole new bowl, which honestly made no sense since I was only asking for a small amount of sauce which she could have easily done! Overly priced for small portion. Overall, the food quality, cleanliness, and customer service were not good. I would not come back.

Although the donburi originally caught his eye, we ended up ordering sushi instead. As someone who finally got over the texture issue of sushi, I've been eating more of it and loving it. Hayashi had such fresh fish and a wonderful plating. Is it pricey? Yes, but most sushi places are nowadays. We did spend over $100 on food but we were stuffed and enjoyed every bite. My friend made sure I tried things I'd never had before! They also gave us free scoops of ice cream at the end. The service was terrific. A lady came and took our order on an electronic pad and our food came out fairly quickly. The interior is about the same as the precious donburi restaurant that owned it but comfortable regardless. The bathroom was also clean. As always, parking directly around this area is tight unless you go later at night or you park at the parking garage by the Alameda Theatre or go on a week day after 7 pm.

Once you walk into the restaurant, there's indoor and outdoor seating available. The outdoor seating is covered by a patio, and on colder days, I'm assuming they will put a heater out there? I'm not too sure, since I don't actually eat outside often. Indoor is well lit up, and has a decent amount of seating. The biggest table I have seen seats around 6 people, but can be more if you have small children I suppose. We mostly order the rolls here, and to be fair, it's a decent pricing. However, it is a hit or miss. 1. Lion King - Decent. Taste all the same everywhere you go if you ask me. 2. Deep Fried Spicy Tuna - Must have, definitely my favorite. 3. Golden Gate - More on the saucy side with imitation crab meat, it's basic. 4. Dragon Roll - Again, same anywhere you go. 5. Double Salmon Roll - Salmon on the inside, salmon on the outside. Cheaper alternative than to just getting nigiri or salmon sashimi. The customer service here is not the best in my opinion. The first time we took a friend there for his birthday, and it was terrible. The host, waiter/server, and manager disregarded us. However, a table next to us got the friendliest treatment. The type of treatment you give when you expect them to come back so you can address them by their name. The second time we've been here, the customer service was basic. No expectations, just take your order, serve, and a simple question of how is everything. Honestly, customer service could have been much more reasonable at even the most basic level. Overall, the food is ok. I wouldn't say it's like the best, but if you're here for lunch or a quick bite, it's fine.

It's a cute little spot and aesthetically pleasing. I believe it's a kitchen hall where multiple restaurants are combined into one? You're able to order curry, dim sum, Japanese sandwiches, bento boxes, etc in one spot. Theres indoor and outdoor seating. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were seated where the cushion chairs were. Then we scanned a QR code on the table and started a group order/tab. I was looking for some comfort food during these gloomy days so I ordered the Japanese curry with katsu which came with miso soup. Our food was served through a robot was pretty cool! The curry was good! My total for two curries with katsu, including tax and tip came out to be about $50. I'm rating this place a 3.5 due to our table not being wiped down prior to being seated, there were crumbs on it and our server just picked some of it up but did not wipe down the table. Other cushion seat tables were also not wiped down and the cushion seats had crumbs and stains on them. A family came in and their high top table was wiped down . We also didn't have any napkins in our holder so I did have to get up and grab it from another table. But I would come back and try this place again, maybe during the weekend.

The shaking beef with the with the rice noodles and lettuce was also a crowd-pleaser. The beef was tender and flavorful. We tried two hot pot flavors: sweet and sour and the pork bone broth. I preferred the sweet and sour one with the fish, prawns, and lots of interesting veggies like okra and the bac-ha which was fanstastic at soaking up the broth. I found the pork one a bit gamey, and the pork being already in the hot-pot was not super tender. Service was friendly and generally attentive.
