This evening I was in the mood. In the mood for a Reuben sandwich. If you don't know what that is, I'm not sure we can really be friends. But since I'm a likeable sort of guy, I'll explain. A Reuben is simple: corned beef, sauerkraut, toasted bread (usually marbled rye), a bit of Russian or Thousand Island dressing, and Swiss cheese. Toast it up nice and warm--basically like a grilled cheese that went to college and got a respectable job. Over the years I've had stellar versions. I've had mediocre ones. I've had them burnt, soggy, and even a few where I had to remove half the meat because the sandwich had been stacked like a small geological formation. A proper Reuben is about the stack. The corned beef should be impressive--something you look at and think, "Yes... this sandwich understands the assignment." So tonight I thought: a German place should have good kraut. Surely they'd have a good Reuben. I ordered online and requested that they toast the bread, meat, and cheese but put the kraut and sauce on the side. Anyone who's ordered a hot sandwich for delivery knows that kraut inside a sealed container quickly turns bread into something resembling damp cardboard. The good news: they followed the request. The sauce and kraut were indeed on the side. And that's about where "what they got right" ended. The sandwich was, to put it kindly, wimpy. It came on a few very small slices of what appeared to be marbled rye... or perhaps bread that aspired to resemble marbled rye. The flavor certainly didn't suggest rye. As for being toasted, perhaps they briefly waved it near a heat source just long enough to dry the bread out slightly, as though it had been left on the counter for a few hours. I assembled it myself and gave it a fair shot. The corned beef did, in fact, pass as corned beef. The kraut was acceptable. But even a DIY reconstruction couldn't save the long list of small things that could have made this a proper Reuben instead of what felt like an appetizer-sized sandwich. Now, I do have to mention the large pretzel with mustard and beer cheese from the appetizer menu. The pretzel had a decent bite to it, but it wasn't quite warm. In fact, it had the distinct personality of something that may have spent just slightly less time in the microwave than it should have. Not cold exactly, but not the warm, chewy, certainly not the freshly baked experience one hopes for from a German biergarten. The beer cheese actually stood on its own--though you do have to pay extra for the tiny cup. The pretzel itself, however... I hate to say it, but sprinkle a little sugar on it and you've basically got a funnel cake. I'd say "you're not fooling anyone," but apparently you are. My suspicion--though I could be wrong--is that the establishment caters more to people who want to drink beer while examining the structural engineering of push-up corsets and lederhosen. This $15 sandwich belongs in a gas station cooler in a plastic clamshell for $5.99, not at a place identifying itself as a German biergarten. I'll give one star for the delivery driver and one star for correctly following the deconstruction request. But that's about all I can do. I've seen some good reviews for King's BierHaus at this location, so I would hate to think--though I can't entirely dismiss the possibility--that delivery orders might receive a little less care than dine-in meals.

What a great place! The food was delicious and came quickly. My only issue was with crawfish- the adds- if I pay for mushrooms I would expect more than one cut in half. However the flavor was very good! Everything we ordered was delicious and good presentation. The location has a nice bar and decent tables and an outside that looks fun! Our server was nice but took long to bring drink (waters and tea) which we had to flag him down and ask multiple times. Overall it was a great first experience! I'd try it again!

Excellent German restaurant/beer garden located in League City. The restaurant has a large open area with benches and outdoor seating for large group hangouts but still family friendly for a small sit down dinner. The menu has your staple German foods like brats, schnitzels, pretzels, etc. as well as a lot of unique Texan Cajun fusion dishes like crawfish schnitzel and crawfish balls. I really enjoyed the half off Wed Jager schnitzel deal (with fried pork cutlet) with an extra side of sauerkraut. I also tried the pretzel bites with biercheese and crawfish balls which were both excellent.

I've been coming here for years, but never realized I haven't reviewed this place! I originally went to their Pearland location which has since changed to Good Vibes, but I'm happy the league city location has been going strong with German food/beer still. RIP to their Heights location. Nonetheless, King's Bierhaus is the go to spot if you're looking to "transport" yourself to Oktoberfest! After actually having been to Oktoberfest in Munich, this really is as close as you can get in Houston as far as ambiance. The big communal tables here are very similar to the tables inside the giant tents of Oktoberfest. I love their German beer list here as well. Many of these beers are served at Oktoberfest, Paulaner is usually my go to. As far as food goes, the beer pretzel is great with the beer cheese and spicy mustard. You can't go wrong with the mac n cheese balls as well. For entrees, I usually alternate between the jaeger schnitzel or a wurst plate. The portions are pretty big here so don't be surprised if you go home with leftovers. Service was pretty good when I was here on a Friday night. The weather was perfect so we enjoyed their outdoor patio as well. They even do crawfish/shrimp boils during crawfish season, which is very Houston of them, enjoy!

This place definitely exceeded expectations! We came here as a party of 6 on New Year's Day. - Parking is straightforward and plenty in the private lot along the strip. - We were seated immediately. There are plenty of long picnic tables - Service was awesome & attentive. Our waiter didn't even need to write any of our orders down - I ordered the spicy chicken bratwurst with all the toppings except for sauerkraut and it was yummy! Adding fries/a side is an additional $5 with my selection of the Parm fries and the fries were also good and worth it - They have an extensive selection on the menu, some of which isn't German, which I think is perfect to cater to all parties - The bill was a lot cheaper than we anticipated & the food was filling, yummy, with generous portions. We will be coming back!!

Everything was very tasty. Our server was very attentive and friendly. A little on the pricey side. $10 for 16 oz beer.

Kangaroo sausage, part of the all you can eat sausage for August. Small corner of the photo is the delicious Sauerkraut.

I love King's. Food and beer are always good. I love the German music and translations. And the Houston mural is great. Husband and I always sit at the bar, and never left wanting.

Amazing food and great company. It was a great selection of food. Because of the family seating, we sat next to an incredible couple and she was from Munich. Great time.

Now this place has actual German food and Beer. I drank Bitburger while in Germany, and they have it on draft here. Doesn't cost a large amount either. Love their Jagerschnitzel.

Absolutely loved this place. You got that Oktoberfest feel soon as you walk in. Wooden long picnic style tables. Everyone dressed in German clothing as well very cool. But the most important part how was the food, yes the food was amazing and certainly priced right. We all left full and satisfied with our experience. Needless to say it's been bookmarked for future visits

First time at this location. I had soup and salad since I had a large lunch prior. Salad was very good. Soup was good but meat was not as tender as I thought it would be. Our waitress was great. Thanks Jessica!

We had so many restaurant options but chose this place because of the high ratings... and I'm so glad we did. I'll be honest--when we first arrived, I wasn't impressed with the outside or the area. I was a little hesitant going in. But the moment we walked through the doors, everything changed. The place felt welcoming, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere--yes, a little loud--but in a good way. It's that lively Mexican vibe: music, micheladas, carne asada... all of it. We were just tired, so I think I noticed it more. Now let's talk about the food... I ordered the Maestro Plate but swapped the meat for short rib costillas--and OH. MY. GOSH. These were hands down some of the best costillas I've ever had. Juicy, tender, packed with flavor. I cleaned those bones completely--every single bite. The dish was served with perfectly grilled "nopales" and queso panela, que ricura! Ahhh, and of course the charro beans and rice that I barely made a dent in. The portions? HUGE. Two of us shared one plate and still had leftovers--and we can eat! Now this part says everything: my grandson, who is on the spectrum and very picky, ordered pollo asado... and he tore into it. No complaints, no hesitation--he finished his entire plate. That alone speaks volumes. My daughter had the birria (and she's a birria critic), and even she couldn't finish her plate because of how generous the portion was--but she said it was full of flavor and really good. My older grandson (big growing boy with an equally big appetite) had a birria quesadilla--again, huge portion--and even he couldn't finish it, which never happens. To top it all off, the owner surprised us with a complimentary dessert--warm, soft, pillowy sopapillas with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. The kids were FULL... and still devoured every last bite. Not a crumb left. And let's talk about pricing... honey. Compared to Austin? This was a steal. I was honestly shocked at how affordable it was for the quality and portion sizes. Amazing food, generous portions, great service, and a place that turned my hesitation into loyalty. They've earned our business--100%. We will absolutely be back next time we're in town.
