First time coming to Kings while in town for Christmas. I ordered a Moscow mule from the bar and got smoked wings for lunch! My friend got a 2 meat platter with potato salad and mac and cheese. All of the food tasted great! There was ample room for multiple sized groups and prices are reasonable.

BBQ and brewery spot located in the Downtown Upland area. As a fan of Kings and craft beer (and BBQ) in general, I've been wanting to check out Kings new spot for a while now. I believe they operate as two entities under one roof here (Kings Brewing and Crazy Gringo BBQ). I only came here during the day - so I can't speak to what seems like lots of live bands here in the evening. Since I came here by myself, I probably would prefer the more relaxed daytime drinking aspect, haha. The space is clean with a good design and plenty of seating (during the day). You are able to open food tabs and order using QR codes at the table. There's a line up and bar area to order beverages. There are a few televisions in the place so you can most likely watch a game here (I came here for a college football game in addition to grabbing BBQ and beers). Everyone from the folks taking your order at the bar, the folks dropping off your food, and the people generally going around to check on you are really friendly. I ended up ordering the two item BBQ combo which came with two sides as well. I got the ribs, brisket, mac cheese, and collard greens. The sides were good and the ribs were good. I liked the brisket as well, although, the sauce added to the experience here. In terms of beer, I got the peanut butter stout. And I am a fan of Kings Brewing, but they had two guest beers on tap during this visit - a couple of barrel aged beers from Mortalis - a brewery out in NY state. I'm a huge fan of their BA beers so I of course had to order those. What a special treat! Definitely coming back. Good BBQ at a decent price and a great selection of beers.

The bar area is pretty cool. The beers so far have been delicious. Upland Pulse is the one I like best. The staff are very friendly. Got some cool coasters from them. Potato salad is ok not much flavor in it. (Sorry guys gonna be honest.) Mac n Cheese is good pretty chill not super over the top one way or the other. The pulled pork has good flavor. The brisket burnt ends really good. Regular brisket is very flavorful. Thanks guys. I'd be back. Just need some extra seasoning in the potato salad please. Technically 4.5 stars is what I'd really like to give this place.

Came here for a 49er watch party and had an amazing time. There are tvs pretty much everywhere you turn and the staff is very sweet. The food was good just not my fav but for the price worth it if you want some decent BBQ. The brisket was TENDER and the pulled pork was good as well but the brisket was the star. I know BBQ doesn't require BBQ sauce but I do wish the BBQ sauce here was better since I love saucing up my food. The beans were my FAVORITE full of flavor while the Mac was okay. Beer wise I tried the Elote which was ok a little too bitter for me plush they charge an extra $2 for a Tajín rim (kind of crazy if you ask me). The upland pulse was a smoother choice plus it was on a special of $7 for game day! I do recommend coming here to catch a game because I had a great time!

1st time coming and most likely last. We got the mini platter to share. it comes with a little bit of everything to try. Canned beans, frozen bagged fries, dry unsweetened dinner rolls, regular pickles from a jar. The coleslaw was sour for me. My partner said it was fine, not the best just fine. Pickled onions were VINEGARY, wheeeew. Definitely cleansed my palate. NO way anything was made. Tasted store bought. I couldve just bought everything and made my own lil platter. I wanted fresh, authentically made. Now the meats. The sausages were hard and little dry. Gave 7/11 sausages rotating all day. When we purchased the mini platter they did say those were the very last ones they had. Pulled pork was dry too. They only provide 1 sauce flavor. No other sauces were offered. Everything started to taste the same after a while. I'm a sauce girl so variation would've been nice. Brisket was very soft and tender. Fatty AF tho. Personally i needed a lil bit more seasoning on it. The fattiness flavor took over. I was tired of dipping in the same BBQ sauce. So ate it how it came. It took my BBQ craving away for the moment. Gonna find somewhere else tho. I dont like the fact that the Bar and Food is separate. Waiting a while in the front for someone to take our order. Soon as another customer came in, a lady came straight to help him and thanked him for giving her a gift card or something . He seems to be a regular from their conversation. After that whole interaction was done THEN we were helped. The lady said we could've just sat down and scanned the QR code instead of standing there. Ma'am, its out 1st time here. We didnt know! Maybe if there was someone paying attention to the front, we could've been informed. We wanted to place our beer orders too but she said thats a separate transaction and we need to go to the bar. Had to wait ANOTHER while in ANOTHER line. Food and experience looked so fun on IG. We didnt have that at all. I know we wont recommend nor go back. Sucks because we're so close to this restaurant. Thought it was going to be our new spot.

Great drinks, food and a clean relaxing place. All the sports games you want to watch are always on the TVs. My choice brewery to come when it's gameday or just for a nice drink. Smoked BBQ wings with a double flex IPA is my choice. My wife really enjoys the mixed drinks they added.

Great Food & Great Atmosphere Definitely coming back. Make sure to not share a plate with your significant other bc you'll regret it. Get your own combo!!!

    Smoked Buffalo Lemon Pepper

Had to stop by before tonight's Dodgers game and give the Scully Double IPA a try--it definitely did not disappoint. The beer was excellent, but the real surprise was the Buffalo Lemon Pepper smoked wings. Incredible flavor, perfectly smoked, and still juicy. Easily some of the best wings I've had in a while. I'll definitely be back!

Brisket plate with 2 sides green chile Mac is awesome as are the beans!

Omgoodness. A gem. Great staff family run and super new and clean. Food is phenomenal. The brisket pic piqued my interest and did not disappoint. Pic attached (and I normally don't photo my food) thanks!

We threw together a very last-minute party for my grandfather's 82nd birthday and decided to try Crazy Gringo BBQ after seeing them on Instagram. Best decision ever! We ordered 4 Chingón platters and 2 orders of wings, and everything was phenomenal. The brisket was incredibly tender and juicy, practically melting in my mouth, and the pulled pork was just as flavorful. The wings were outstanding--the sweet red chili and Parmesan flavors were the perfect appetizers. The portions were huge, so we had plenty of leftovers (they definitely don't skimp!). What impressed us even more was the hospitality. They provided plates, napkins, utensils, wet wipes, and even an entire bottle of BBQ sauce. They also helped us load everything into the car, which was such a thoughtful touch. We paired the food with some frosé and seltzers from Kings Brewing, and it was the perfect combo. My family and I were blown away and will absolutely be back. Thank you for making my grandfather's birthday so special!

So much fun! Great food and beer selection! Love the live music!!! Only reason didn't give it a 5 is the lighting. Super fluorescent lighting throughout most of the bar. Would be so much better if the lighting was dimmed. Would've been more inviting.

As an avid beer drinker, Rescue Brewery is one of my go-to breweries in the area. It is always clean, has friendly staff, and has great brews and food! Before sitting down, you're supposed to order your beers with the nice beertenders at the front. I usually get the Haze Against The Machine. They also have a good menu and a happy hour! I had ordered their garlic fries and their poke nachos. The beertenders gives you a number, then you can display it at the table of your choice. The atmosphere inside is nice' they have cute string lights placed all around. They're also usually playing modern music or country. It does get a bit loud in there dependent on how many people are inside. Their garlic fries are very crispy and have garlic pieces sprinkled on top. The sauce it comes with is addicting. My favorite is definitely their poke nachos! It has an abundant amount of tuna sprinkled over it with jalapeños, pickled onions, pickled radishes, and their delicious sauce. Their wonton chips are very crunchy, too! I washed it down with my IPA that was super hazy and crisp. I've been here a few times, but forget to check in/do a review. I didn't forget this time! They're always consistent in every aspect, so brewery hoppers, you need to put this on your list!

Good ole' Yelp suggested this place (because our hearts can use some rescuing.) Found parking nearby. (Special note: we had to walk by a center gazebo of some sort that is sitting in the middle of the street. It was empty and seemed out of place because at the time, it was playing Christmas music and it wasn't Christmas.) But I digress... Place is modern industrial but chill and casual. It looked like a popular watering hole with the neighbors as it was full for a Thursday early afternoon. We found a spot near the huge window to feel some fresh air. At the time, the bar was ran by a crew of women and they were so cool. My bartender allowed me to try some samples on tap. You also get to order food at the bar and you get it served to your table. I got the "I'm Your Huckleberry" and the "Mango Blonde". Loved them. They were fresh and crisp and easy to drink . We got the usual suspects to share: poke nachos, chicken pesto flatbread, some fries, wings and a pretzel. All of it were good and it was more than enough for three people. Great spot. Wish I had pictures but we spent too much time talking and enjoying company.

Service was slow and inattentive the whole time, from seating to when they were around to take our order or drop off an item, they were never friendly or courteous. They seemed annoyed having to work. This location of Back Abbey in Upland is in the Colonies area, in the same plaza as Albertson, European Wax Center, and Massage Envy. When I pulled up I was genuinely happy that this location was much larger than their original Claremont location. They have tables, a bar area, and a large outdoor patio. There were many tv screens for the sports fan. I actually liked the décor and had positive hopes for this place. When I looked at their menu I was happy to see the menu grow since my last encounter with their original Claremont location. Once again, I was excited for the business and genuinely wanted to support them. I was narrowing down what to order and I even imagined coming back to try other items. My boyfriend had the Back Abbey Burger ($20) and I was mistakenly excited to see the beer cheese so I got the Soft Pretzel ($10). We also shared a Pomme Frites (half $9/full $11) and went all out with the full cause it's a better deal. My boyfriend also got a Coke ($4). I was asking the waitress about the sangria but their version doesn't have edible fruits, so I was less interested. Honestly if she was more friendly I would have gotten something else. I just got water. THE ONLY THING WE ENJOYED IS THE POMME FRITES. I remember liking these from their Claremont location. Fresh cut and super crispy as they double fry it in duck fat. Yummmm. My boyfriend said his burger was okay but he didn't like the aged gouda which affected every bite of the burger. Ugh now let me get to the pretzel. The saddest pretzel in all of the lands. I was soo excited for this... anddd COLD BEER CHEESE!! Whatttttttt??? Honestly I wanted to ask staff if it was meant to be cold but they were no were in sight. We were waiting sooooo long to wave someone down for the check. If service was faster at least I can be annoyed and leave and get over it. They were so slow it left me to stew in my annoyance of the unsatisfying depressing pretzel. Also, neither the coke or the waters were refilled. When we were FINALLY able to wave someone down, it was still a while to get the check. We also for a togo container FOR THE FRIES. She can see the majority of the pretzel was uneaten and I made it a point to say I didn't care to take it togo. Of course she didn't care to ask any follow up questions. Food being bad is one thing... I could have always came back to try the duck confit or steamed mussels like I intended but the service made me soooooooooo miserable waiting around. I don't have time for this.

There's a 90-minute minimum, and they don't bring a bottle to the table--you get one mimosa at a time, and you have to finish it before they'll bring another. The first one I got tasted like straight orange juice barely any champagne. I sent it back and to their credit, they remade it much better They mentioned they control pours to keep the environment in check, which I understand--but if you're expecting free-pour vibes, that's not the case here. Food-wise: French toast & breakfast potatoes were really good However the Chilaquiles were super dry and lacked flavor--wouldn't recommend Burger & fries were decent, but nothing special As for drink pricing, it does lean a bit on the higher side. bucket of 5 beers was around $42, $15 for a Tito's vodka shot, and even a basic Jack and Coke came out to about $18 with tip, which felt a little steep for the area. the best deal was definitely the green tea shots at only $9 I will say, our waitress Priscilla was great. She had a lot of tables and seemed a bit overwhelmed, but she still made an effort to check on us and kept my mimosas coming pretty promptly. I didn't have to wait long at all between refills, which I appreciated. Since we went for a special event, the DJs were great and really kept the energy up the whole time Parking was easy. It did say there was a $2 fee, but when we printed the ticket, we weren't charged--so it might be free, but I'd still double-check at the kiosk just in case. Overall: decent spot for the vibe, music, and brunch outing, but just be prepared for controlled drinks and slightly higher prices.

Good size stage, bands are always good. It runs to rock and blues, 60-70-80-90's. We always come here when Soulshine or The Dogs are here and we just heard this band today called Parallel and they're really good for Zep, Ozzie, The Who, grunge. oh one band is called Red something and they killed doing Santana covers. We tend to come on Sundays as it's more mellow and family friendly. They have security who are professional and friendly. Lots of parking weekendscas the Industrial Park they are in is all closed The beers/ale here are really fantastic. they usually have a seltzer. I like the Mosey Cat. Love the Pineapple ale but it's pricey at less than a pint. Local pubs usually carry a tap two of their ale. They used to have a great food truck every day of the week but now they opened their own counter restaurant Th- Sun. the food trucks still on the other days of the week are worth checking out. (Guisados I love you). Their counter food is okay but it's like Pizza, wings, Burger, hot dogs. Elevated versions so pricey-ish. it's just okay for me, honestly. I did love the empanadas but tiny. I have spinach and cheese ones one time. The pizza I got today was a supreme and the crust is good but there's pretty much zero sauce, I don't understand that. Dry af. The toppings are good quality but all the veggies are just plain raw. I look forward to taking the rest home and broiling it.

We missed the kitchen hours, so I can't comment on the food this time, but the atmosphere alone made the visit worthwhile. The crowd was energetic, everyone was having a great time, and it was wonderful to see so many people showing appreciation for the musicians with generous tips. Great beer, great music, and a fun vibe. I'll definitely come back earlier next time so I can try the food too!

We were fine with it, and were given two menus and told to sit anywhere we wanted. After 15 minutes, no servers had come out to take drink orders or anything, so my boyfriend went inside to ask if someone could come take our order. I looked around the patio area and realized there were two other tables whose patrons were there before us, waiting for drinks and service, just like we were. One of them was fanning herself with the menu, as it was close to 100° outside. (There are no misters on the patio, just a slight breeze now and then. And, if you sit near the patio entrance, you should know that the huge dryer vents from the adjacent hotel are pushing hot air into the patio.) My boyfriend came back and said that he was told "someone will be out soon", and he noticed that all the servers were watching the soccer game inside. We waited another minute or so, and decided to leave and find another place for lunch. We were so glad we left...we ended up at Gus's BBQ across the way, and OMG...save yourself the trouble of the weak menu & non-existent service at The Back Abbey and walk over to Gus's. You won't regret it!
