I was not a fan of the use of cinnamon in the egg rolls, but to each their own. Service... hmm when we had the young lady with the short hair service was great. The other server not so much, we had a large group and yes there is 20% tip no argument there, but her belittling our party because we did not tip her more was out of line. Considering she did not do a good job. One of our party gave the server her credit card and told her fine add 10.00. The server took 20.00, to me that is theft. Pretty clean and decent food and drinks. Service on the other hand needs major improvement. Don't bother trying to use a coupon that Yelp says it's able to be redeemed here. At check out, the Chinese people play like they don't understand and won't take your coupon. Well on Father's Day last June 2025 I went to the restaurant after church for a carry out order. I have to go inside to make my request, they seem to not understand what A. What chicken wing flats are. 2. Do not understand what the drums on the chicken wings are. On this stated day, she ask me to show her what I wanted off the bar, so she was took me to the serving bar, and this was the conversation. "Okay show me show me don't tell me, at that point she appear very agitated cause she didn't understand. I picked up the prong, attempted to show her, she then snatched the prongs out of my hand, and stated I don't understand, it was after the snatch I preceded to walk out, then she knew I angry, and as I was headed to the door she yelled " you want to order now" and I kept walking. This is not the first time I witnessed her bad attitude, and poor customer service, but will be the last time she'll see my face. We loved this place, absolutely became our go to. Went to celebrate our son's 10th birthday only to set our plates on the table and have a cockroach run between them. Absolutely disgusting. That is a sign of an unsanitary place. Told a lady, who told another lady who came to our table with our bill in her hand, mind you we had only eaten a few bites. She asked what it was and I shower her this picture from under the table of the roach. She said they have a pest control company, and that I still had to pay from our drinks. I said fine just to get the hell out of there. All in all, that was horrible. Manager was called who said I didn't need to pay for anything, after I already had, and then said he would give me a gift certificate I said no thank you, put that money toward a better pest control company or cleaning supplies to not ruin another family's evening. The food was not fresh, I did the buffet it was at 350 the charged me for a dinner it was 16.99 for just a dinner buffet and a water. I asked why the price was high and why I was charged a dinner and they said dinner started at 350 and I came in at 352. They don't post prices or what time they consider lunch or dinner. Overall: I would say this place is about 3.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't give that option! This is a smaller town and this buffet is pretty large. I've been to bigger towns/cities with less choices. They have the standard options with extras!! They have white rice and fried rice. They also have the fried chicken wings/drum sticks to chicken on a stick! They have the fruit bar to the dessert bar. Oooooh! Ice cream, too. The BONUS part is the sushi bar. There's someone making it to keep it stocked. They also have soup!! Basically, this is a buffet with decent food. Not fantastic gourmet food but good. It's not terrible. I see bad reviews on here. This is a really cheap place to have ALL YOU CAN EAT!! You cannot go eat anywhere else this cheap and be bottomless!! This place is probably going to have an off day here and there. No one is perfect. Oooooh! They also have hot pepper oil mix if you need to add that SPICE to your meal!! Minus one star for not wanting to seat us towards the front! Plenty of room in front. We went to this establishment on Christmas Day. It was packed but we got in at a decent time (I guess everyone else had the idea to not cook either)! Once we got sat our waiter immediately came and got our drink orders. After grabbing a plate and walking through the rows of buffet tables I found that there was such a huge variety of Chinese food. I sampled a lot of stuff I've never had before & to my surprise it was super delicious. The food was hot, fresh & wonderful! Our table was always cleared as we were done & ready to get more! Their desserts range from Chinese/Asian traditional to American southern which is a great mix! Drinks never made it past 1/2 glass! Last night I ordered a combination of pepper steak to go. When I got home, I took a bite and proceeded to choke on something; it was extremely painful. When I pulled it out I realized it was a piece of a foreign metal. I proceeded to eat another piece and quickly realized there was a thin piece of wood (a splinter of sorts?). Pictured below are the foreign particles I found in my food. Since it was too late to call as the establishment was closed, I waited til' the morning to go in person and show them, being that those foreign particles would have been extremely dangerous if swallowed. I spoke to the assistant manager who put me on the phone with the owner. After explaining my situation he proceeded to say that "maybe it came from the place where I was eating the food". Best Chinese food around. Around $10 includes all you can eat food and sushi bar and even includes the drink. It is definitely a local favorite and for someone that travels around from time to time and has to have a Chinese food fix, King's Chef simply has some of the best Chinese food that I've found. It certainly sets a bar high, in comparison to most any other Chinese restaurant (especially if you prefer buffet style). Prices do still continue to rise, so this does impact a lot of large families in way of cost. They do charge extra (gratuity) for groups of 12 or more, so split a table if you have to, but remember the drinks are included with the price. They do offer lower prices for children. read more

I come here at least once a week before a go to work. I found a piece of shred of metal in my hot and sour soup so I quit eating here for awhile because they didn't believe me. I think overall 3/5 is a fair rating for kings chef, staff are decently nice and friendly and the food is VERY good I love coming in and getting there sushi!! Yummmmm!!!!!! While in town on business, I visited this place a couple times. Obviously since I was a repeat customer, it must be pretty good!! And I do have to say, for a Chinese boofay (buffet)... this place is pretty darn good!! I have done a lot of travel, and tried a lot of different Chinese boofays, and I assure you, this is one of the better ones!! At dinner time, the food was always fresh and hot.... not the typical, warm, dried out and crusty you often find at other places. The variety of food was awesome!! Mind you, this is a boofay, not a fancy, sit-down, high-end restaurant, so don't expect that, and don't compare what you get to a place like that. Like I said, for a boofay, this place is pretty darn good!! Since I have left the area, I have kind of missed this place, as my local boofay is no where as good as this place (see my comments above about the dried out and crusty boofay above.... that's what I get at home)... This "could" be an excellent restaurant if they did not mix the food that has been sitting in the pans for an hour or more with the fresh out of the kitchen food. If there is a spoon full of dried out left over in the pan just throw it out! It gets salty and soggy taste terrible. Id like to see the spoons changed when a fresh pan of food comes out. Also since covid or for cleanliness in general I'd like to see some food service gloves on the buffet for patrons to use. So is the food good? Yes! Update: this has become my husband and I's favorite Chinese buffet. We drive from Sedalia (40 minutes east). If you come for dinner, the food is fresh and yummy! Definitely a must if you're in Warrensburg or nearby We arrived later in the night so the food wasn't as fresh because of the time. I'm new to the area and trying out different restaurants. All of the Chinese places I've tried have either been too expensive, the taste not up too par, or overall too far... and this one is great! I've only been once and came around 8:30p on a Sunday. We ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan Chicken, Bourbon Chicken, and a Sweet and Sour Chicken with egg rolls and and crab Rangoon's as the sides. You get a LOT of food for your money, all of this was about $25. Egg rolls are so flavorful and the Rangoon's taste clean (if that's the best way to describe it?) and super creamy.
