King's has now become a staple in my household whenever everyone is in the mood for Chinese food. You truly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu and everything I've tried so far has been delicious. I haven't found a Chinese sit down restaurant in the area since Szechuan Star closed years ago. We came on a Wednesday night and were surprised to see how many people were dining in. The owner, Freddy, is very chatty and told us on weekends, they have a line for tables. His service is amazing, he connects with all his patrons, and is super generous. He brought us hot and sour soup, additional dumplings, and gave us a taste of his chicken and eggplant dish. We ordered the standard Chinese take out items--general Tsos chicken, vegetable lo mein and string beans stir fried with garlic. Everything came out quickly. The general tsos chicken could have been more crispy, but I appreciated that they weren't just half breading. The vegetable lo mein was good, but the string beans were covered with pork. The menu doesn't state anything about pork, and I don't eat red meat. I didn't want to make it inconvenient, especially after Freddy had been so friendly and generous, so I just scraped off the pork. My daughter and son-in-law couldn't stop raving about the barbecue ribs at King's Chinese in Freehold. According to them, the meat just falls off the bone! So, when I happened to see a TikTok video featuring King's and their famous ribs, I knew we had to try them out for ourselves. When we arrived, the place was packed--everyone was already enjoying an early dinner, and nearly every table had ribs on them. That alone says something! We decided to do takeout and placed an order that included: * Sweet and Sour Chicken (comes with a small pint of white rice) * Small order of BBQ Ribs * Large order of BBQ Ribs * King's Special Fried Rice * Pork Lo Mein * Plus, they gave us a free bag of crispy noodles with sweet-and-sour sauce--such a nice touch! Let me tell you, this is not your average cheap Chinese takeout. The quality was noticeable right away. Sweet and Sour Chicken: Delicious! It was all chicken--none of that overly battered, airy stuff you get at other places. Crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. White Rice: Standard, but fresh and well-cooked. BBQ Ribs: Absolutely lived up to the hype. Tender, flavorful, and the meat just slid off the bone. Not overly sauced (which I prefer). The small order was $14.95 and the large (10-12 ribs) was $30. Pricey, yes--but worth every penny. King's Special Fried Rice: Surprisingly excellent. It looked like brown rice at first glance, but it wasn't. Nicely cooked, not too salty, and packed with meat, shrimp, and vegetables--everything you'd want in a house special fried rice. Pork Lo Mein: Another hit. The noodles were perfectly cooked--not greasy or over-sauced--and full of tender pork slices and fresh veggies. It had that classic lo mein flavor but felt more balanced and homemade. The service was friendly and the restaurant has a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Next time, we're definitely dining in. Our total was $94.00, which felt reasonable considering the generous portions and quality of the food. Best Yang Zhou Fried Rice in town, period! Every grain of rice is perfectly separated, packed with savory meats and fresh veggies, and has that amazing authentic wok hei flavors. This place is alright. Couple things for me were a the issue. 1.) I ordered a boneless spare rib combination platter & I couldn't substitute the rice for lo mein. This is the 1st restaurant I've ever ordered from & they did not allow it. 2.) when I got my food the amount of rice I got was close to nothing. The ribs themselves on top of it were very dry. Our first visit to King's Chinese was for early dinner. The extensive menu included the basics and several exotic dishes. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was well prepared, served hot, and tasted comparable to the food in a good restaurant in New York City's Chinatown. The portions were very generous, giving some take-home left-overs. The only minor improvement would be to provide larger dining plates that allow room for different dishes. We will certainly plan a return visit when in the area. read more

Had a great lunch meal today at Kings Chinese in Freehold NJ. I enjoy their extensive men and realize that their offerings are fresh and tasty. The wait staff is friendly, attentive and efficient. Parking is sometimes tough since the restaurant is in a strip mall that is sometimes crowded. But I wouldn't let that dissuade you from sampling their cuisine. Terrible!! Don't be deceived! First time here and it was Saturday July 19, 2025 at about 5:45pm. We were looking for a new sit down Chinese place to try. The place was packed so we thought wow this should be amazing!! Well this was the worst Chinese meal ever!!!! And we eat Chinese often! To start, you write your own name on a wall and the lady at the front doesn't really pay attention to who's next. She's too busy with to go orders. We finally sit after an hour and the two staff are over whelmed. We both ordered the beef and broccoli combo with pork fried rice and egg roll. We also got pork fried dumplings. The dumpling dough was weird textured and they did not look like traditional dumplings, not impressed at all. Then our meals were horrible! Lack of any flavor, watery and the texture of the meat was like boiled and had a coating of cornstarch. Gross. The fried rice was bland but looked great and dark. I was so deceived looking at this yelp page pictures. Also the meals are like $21.00 plus. Over priced! Either the people of freehold have bland taste buds, never ventured out elsewhere to have real Chinese or like wasting their money consistently! I have no idea why this place is so busy. I came here because of all the great reviews, but unfortunately I didn't find it that great. I ordered the sesame chicken dinner with vegetable fried rice. The breading to the sesame chicken was soggy. The sauce is suppose to be sweet and tangy. The sauce here had a bit of a tang, but lacked any sweetness. They need to improve the sauce to this dish! I expected for the higher price point here that the vegetable fried rice would of had better quality vegetables in it plus they didn't give you any Chinese corn in it like other places do. The vegetable egg roll it came with was very good! Overall, I thought this place was mediocre. I'll give this place another shot because of all the great reviews. Just ordered take-out fr Kings. We've going here for years. This time will prob be our last. Beef and broccoli bland. Chicken and broccoli was ok. Pork fried rice was poor. Rice was different and I couldn't locate any pork in it. Throw in the lack of duck sauce for the fried noodles and we'll write them off. It's late and hubby and I had some errands up in the area. We were tired and neither of us felt like cooking. I used our trusted Yelp app and let it guide us to a nearby Chinese takeout place. Out pops King's which I totally forgot about. We call up to confirm they are open and they tell us, "No outside tables are available; only take out." We placed the order by phone and are later greeted by the owner, Freddy and his wife. We were relieved when we saw they followed all the COVID-19 guidelines on handling the food and wearing their masks. The phone was ringing and it looks like their business is still going strong. It's obvious, they still take pride in their food. I can tell however, Freddy misses his customers greatly. After we got home and unpacked, we are happy to state, their lo-mein is not drenched in grease and the roast beef tastes very good. They truly tried to put in as much noodles as possible into the container because it was stuffed beyond belief. For great, simple Chinese take out without the fuss, we will always go back to King's Chinese Restaurant, when we are in the area. read more
