I bought a bag of frozen potato and cheese varenyk (pirogies), and they were delicious. Attaching a photo of what they looked like after I cooked them at home (boiled and then sautéed in butter with diced onion and spices).

Once stepping into the store, you are met with large freezers and fridges stuffed to the brim with all things Ukrainian. Many of their dumpling items are in large packages (2-3lbs a pack) and range from $8-$15 per lb depending on the filling. $15 a pound for their lamb and short rib Pierogis. Price-wise, it's very fair! And you can taste to quality and heart they put into these Pierogis. Can't go wrong with any flavor. I got the lamb and it was stuffed with tender lamb pieces, no filler. And they make for great quick meals! I also snagged a box of cabbage rolls stuffed with a pork and rice filling. Simple home-y flavor and better than rolls I've gotten from restaurants. Just reheat and it's ready to go! $15 for 5 large cabbage rolls was a great deal as well! Would get again. The only thing I wouldn't get again is their soup dumplings, as it was a bit difficult to cook and was a little too doughy near the top of the dumpling. Flavor wise, it was delicious and had a nice broth (assuming you didn't pop them. Only 1 didn't pop). But it was a difficult item to cook right in boiling water, like the instructions mention. Perhaps, user error. Every item is sold by weight and labeled after selecting your items. But they're happy to check the weight/explain price before purchasing.

Golden Boar is a Ukrainian restaurant in the Huntingdon Valley Marketplace shopping center. From…read morethe outside, it may look like a regular strip mall restaurant. But inside is something really special. In my experience, it isn't very easy to find Ukrainian restaurants in the U.S. (certainly several in New York), and so I was thrilled to find Golden Boar. And it lived up to all my hopes and expectations. First of all - strip mall from the front, but it's all charm and coziness inside. The decor includes lots of photographs and beautiful table coverings - but the highlight of the interior is their play on the Ukrainian Pich (stove). What looks like a beautiful, traditional Pich is an opening and passthrough to the kitchen. It adds such charm and character to the space. But onto the food. I happen to love Ukrainian food, so we were excited and hungry and knew we would order too much food and have leftovers for later. We ordered and shared: Yushka (a porcini mushroom broth served with mushroom dumplings and a huge chicken meatball) with a garlic bun on the side on the recommendation of our server; Huliash (stewed beef with potato dumplings, and prunes); herring (with egg salad, boiled beet, and onions); and potato and cheese varenyky with cracklings). I would order and eat every bite again. And I wish I'd had more room to finish our plates and order a dessert! (Looking back, we should have brought friends with us just so we could order and share more of the menu)! The staff are friendly, and the service was wonderful and fast. Just a really wonderful meal that I'd be happy to repeat in the future! I think it's really special.

We have been here several times since my last review and have tried other Georgian restaurants in the area and we keep coming back here. We sat out on the enclosed porch, which has a nice feel to it. The place has a full bar with Georgian wines and beer as well as more familiar options but give these other ones a try - you won't be dissapointed We had 4 other people with us who had never had this cuisine and they all enjoyed it. Our server was fun to talk with and he made the night even more enjoyable. From the Cheese Boat to the Chicken Chqmeruli (both a must try) to the Dumplings and the whole Branzino to the Kebabs, I'm sure you will find something new and delicious to try.

They have take out orders towards the back of the restaurant. They also sell sauces, cheeses', beer, wine etc. My order was ready when I arrived. Packed well with utensils. I missed getting a menu but I willl be back. They have a dining room and out door patio/beer garden. It was busy and lively. Parking available. I got home and could wait to try the khinkali. They have beef and pork or lamb. I got the lamb. It was so juicy and yummy with the sour cream. I also wanted to try the Kharcho, a tomato based soup with beef and herbs. The small was $8 and very small but very good. I will defiantly go back to dine in and try all the other amazing menu items.
