One of the best Chinese takeout restaurants in the area that I've had in awhile! My boyfriend and I ordered a large beef lo mein, small chicken and broccoli, and egg rolls. They did not skimp out on the meat in the lo mein and it was a gigantic serving of food. Both were easy to split between the two of us and have some leftover. Egg rolls were big and had a great crunch to them. You get exactly what you'd hope for in taste here. Fair prices, no frills, fresh tasting food -- just what you want in a takeout spot! I have ordered twice from Jumbo Kitchen and here is my review on both visits. The first time I called the store to ask questions. The young man that answered had no real answers for me. I asked if they delivered to my address. He said I have no clue. I asked if he could check, I was told to go online to order to see. Not the correct answer. I asked about a dish and he said no idea. Why have someone answer phones who can not answer questions. Ok so he is young and I said what the heck I will try to order online. I placed my order and it arrived in a timely fashion. They did not include my eggroll in my combo meal nor did they give me the soup. I called and the young man said oh and that was it. Never got it. The food was very good but very salty. We decided since the food was good to try one more time. This time I again ordered online and with each item I added specific instructions, NO SALT or MSG please. Guess what my food was so salty, more then last time that we did not and could not eat it. We will never order from them again. Did they add extra salt on purpose? Did they even read my added instructions (where there is a place for them)? Who knows but they will not only lose my business but those that had also tasted their food here. This place has seriously gone down the tubes. Tonight, we placed an order and waited for an hour. When I called to ask if everything was okay with our driver, they said that our food was on the way and that the driver would call me. 20 minutes went by and when I called back to see where they were, they said they didn't have an order for me. Ordered Gen Tso's Chicken Dinner Combo last night for delivery. Food came fast, I was able to pay with a credit card over the phone, and no delivery charge. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. Ugh- I tried giving Jumbo Kitchen a second chance. I ordered teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, a couple lo means, and the pepper steak and onions combo platter. After the delivery guy left, I opened up the bag to find out they forgot the teriyaki beef. I understand these things happen. I called to let them know I was missing food. I was told it was in the bag. When I assumed the lady on the phone that it was missing, she tried to explain the concept of food being in separate bags to me. After some back and forth between her and someone else there she said she'd send "another one". While waiting for the replacement we started to eat the food we had. The teriyaki chicken is so incredibly overcooked (dry and stringy)... bathing overcooked proteins in sauce doesn't fix it. I don't have much hope for the teriyaki steak at this point. The pepper steak and onion combo is waaay lacking in the steak department. I literally counted the pieces of meat... 4 small-medium pieces in all. Tons of onions though. I ordered a PS&O combo from Golden Star last week. Their meal is in a league if its own compared to what Jumbo Kitchen just delivered. The choice of entree and fried rice must weigh 2 lbs and you get soup or an egg roll. I can never finish the entire meal. Their fried rice is perfect. Just moist enough but not greasy. This place is gross. Have been to Jumbo Kitchen at least four times. Around lunchtime the service is pretty good. Went to Jumbo Kitchen maybe two days ago, as I was in the area, for dinner. Dinner service was atrocious. I had ordered Mushroom Egg Foo Young and my Mom ordered chicken and mixed vegetables. I went to pay for our orders, and the guy at the counter didn't give me the change right away...Then, ten minutes later after dancing around behind the counter with my twenty dollar bill, he resurfaces and throws the change at me. Completely disrespectful. And the worst part was that he thought it was funny and proceeded to laugh at me afterwards. However, what really, truly turned me off to this place was the same guy who threw change at me and laughed at me. He is always sick with a phlegm issue. After the guy finally gave me my change, my Mom told me to go into the bathroom and wash my hands. I mean, for real. My Mom even saw him wipe his nose with his hands and then put his hands in his mouth on multiple occasions. That kind of behavior has no place in a joint that deals with food. I mean, it's practically contagion city. It's a food place, and if you're sick, stay home. Don't contaminate everyone else's food. Really. It's just common sense. The bathrooms were gross and really should be better attended to. There are better conditions in the women's bathroom where I work. Needless to say, if you go into the bathrooms to wash your hands, you don't want to see other people's bodily excrement. I'll just say that. The people working with this guy, who were Chinese, were so concerned with pickup orders that they forgot my Mom's plate of food. I felt so bad that she had to wait in excess of twenty minutes just to get a plate of chicken and mixed vegetables. How long does it really take to make chicken and mix it with vegetables? In all honesty, I think they were either fooling around or forgot entirely about what we ordered. On the downside, this place was cold. And I mean Siberia conditions. It's basically the beginning of winter and you can't afford to heat your restaurant? What food we didn't finish, my Mom packed up to eat later.
