    Chicken in spicy garlic sauce
    Alycia J.

Came here during Christmas ! Seating was very quick and service was fast. We ordered scallion pancakes and steamed vegetable dumplings - the dumpling sauce and chili oil added a lot flavor. For main course we ordered Dan Dan noodles (vegetarian), tofu and vegetables in thai basil sauce, chicken in spicy garlic sauce and shrimp in schezuan sauce. Dan Dan noodles were decent - we appreciated the bean paste as a replacement for the pork. Husband said the chicken dish was fantastic, and the shrimp dish was great also but said the shrimp had a little too much breading to it. The veggie dish needed more flavor. Overall would come again !

Lunch time - two different menus. One in English and one in Chinese.

The casual restaurant itself was okay. The decor was okay. The food itself was good but not exceptional. They offer two different lunch menus: one in Chinese and one in English. The English menu is strictly for those who like to play it on the safe side. I personally prefer Chinese menu. They have better selections. From the Chinese menu, we had ordered two vegetarian dishes: fish fillet with Chinese eggplants and fish fillets with tofu. We also had hot and sour soup and wonton soup. My h&s soup had some nice heat to it and hubby enjoyed his wonton soup. Soon afterwards our entrees came out with the bowls of brown rice. You get a choice of either brown rice or white rice. The fish was velvety smooth in both dishes. I personally favored the fish fillet with the Chinese eggplant. It had more complex taste. However, both dishes had too much cornstarch added to thicken up the gravy. It became gelatinous and unpleasant to eat. This is a constructive criticism and not to be taken as I abhor the dishes. The service was fine. They took our order, gave it to us, and then they gave us our checks. They never offered us water and upon seating us they immediately gave us crispy noodles. We asked for them to switch the noodles for shredded radishes and carrots. They never added us if everything was okay but did they check in us to see if there was anything else we might need, such as cups for our tea. Had to ask when they set one of the dishes down. Would I go back? I would prefer to try other Chinese restaurants.

The food was really delicious. I got the 3 pepper chicken lunch. It seems like the same thing as Chongqing chicken. It's deep fried pieces of chicken (with some fat on) and it's really crispy. They stir fry it with 3 different kinds of peppers. It was just the right amount of spicy for me. It was spicy but didn't seem so spicy once you keep eating it. It was so savory and you could taste all the different aromatics they put in the stir fry. I could really taste the ginger. The white rice was even good and the egg drop soup had a nice flavor. A really great meal and I'll be back to try more.

The sauce had just enough numbing warmth without overpowering the dish, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. Beyond the appetizer, the restaurant offered a warm atmosphere and attentive service that made the dining experience even better. The presentation was thoughtful, portions were generous, and the flavors tasted authentic and carefully prepared. When it comes to food, I never judge a burger by its bun, so thanks to Yelp for helping me find it. The sign in the window says "Asian fusion" which usually sends me running as it's often a cop-out label for bad mixed-up Asian cooking, but this is authentic y'all, meaning true-to-tradition dishes with a sometimes more contemporary application of ingredients or flavors. The "fusion" part must come from the fact that they have a small Taiwanese section as well as the main Szechuan/Sichuan menu, alongside a few familiar Chinese-American favorites like sesame chicken or broccoli x protein, so you can get that here too. Everything we ordered was phenomenal! Great flavors, generous portions, cooked with confidence and finesse. Compliments to the kitchen - they really know what they're doing. Not a single dish was lacking. They even put out peanuts at the start and serve fresh orange slices at the end of the meal. Very old school. We loved it all: * Salt & white pepper crispy chicken ("Taiwanese specialty") - well-battered and flavored, and perfectly crispy * Taiwanese minced pork rice * Chicken red curry - fabulous, with fresh vegetables and just the right balance of spice * Golden dish (fish) - very special dish in a salted duck egg yolk batter * Beef chow fun * Marinated crispy duck Wish I lived closer, but will definitely come back when we are in the area. Best of the best - very highly recommended!

The restaurant is very spacious and perfect for large groups and families. There's peanuts, fried broad beans, and sunflower seeds at the table for you to eat while waiting for the food. The buffalo fish does have many small bones which they warn about, but the flesh is very more meaty than most fishes and I don't mind the bones. The spicy garlic base comes with tons of garlic and is the perfect amount of spice. We added the mung bean noodles, lotus root and enoki mushrooms. The portion for the add-ons are very generous!
