When I came to pick up my dress, I tried it on and it wasn't as fitted as I was hoping for. I talked to the owner, Le, and said it wasn't to my satisfaction and he was willing to alter it for no additional charge. I have been to other seamstresses who will charge for additional alterations if you are dissatisfied with their service. Although the alterations were higher than other tailor shops I have gone to, their customer satisfaction compensates for it. read more

I would give more than 5 stars if possible! After waiting way too long, I finally decided to upgrade my suit collection when I got down to one wearable suit. I met with Le and picked out 2 custom suits. The selection process was surprisingly fun and Le answered all of my questions in detail. Le promised the suits in about 5 weeks. After 3 weeks I realized the pants in my last suit had torn. I called Le to see if there was any chance my suits were ready. He told me no, they were not quite ready but he could fix my pants while I waited the next day. When I showed up the next morning to get my pants fixed, my 2 custom suits were ready! I'm addition to the spectacular customer service, the suits are incredible. The quality of the material, the fit, and the attention to detail are all top notch. The price also can't be beat. The custom suits I got were only marginally more than suits I got off the rack at Nordstroms but exponentially better in fit and quality. I will only buy suits from Le going forward. read more

Had such a hard time finding good-quality customized tuxedoes (or suits for that matter) in the district without losing an arm and a leg. I randomly stumbled upon KC Formal wear and am SO glad I did. It was recently (I think) handed over to new management, but Lee, who now runs the shop, used to work as a tailor himself, with years and years of experience. He offered us an incredible deal, especially for the work that he put into our tuxedoes to make them perfect. Every detail was paid attention to and nothing was overlooked. He even threw in a bunch of extras like cuff links and handkerchiefs to our surprise! HIs work took a little while, so plan in advance, and you should certainly call him every few weeks or so to follow-up but the quality is superb! I love going to small shops like this to avoid the over-priced hidden fees and crap quality that you find downtown. I will certainly come back here! Levan Le is an incredible tailor. As another reviewer said, if I could give a 10, I would! He is friendly, professional, and more than fairly priced. I drove up from Fairfax, VA because I heard how good he was. I lost a lot of weight, and needed the padded, structured shoulders rebuilt on an expensive Burberry camel overcoat. It was that or get rid of a perfectly good garment. Not every tailor can do this kind of work, and I am extremely picky. Needless to say, he did an exceptional job, and extended the life of a classic overcoat another ten years. Such an amazingly professional shop. We came here to get a wedding suit and a wedding dress tailored for our wedding in Greece. We had very limited time because we could not go shopping for a suit due to the corona virus shutting down all walk-in shopping in the area. The owner of the shop was extremely helpful with his suggestions and willingness to work with us to get our suit and dress finished in time for our wedding. This is my go to spot for alterations. Hems, taking in, etc. fair prices and fast service. I dropped by this past week for help with a stuck zipper. I figured it needed to be replaced. I had a wedding to attend and I knew the suit I wanted to wear but there was something about it that I didn't like. Problem was I couldn't place my finger on it. Then it hit me - it needed to be altered properly. Problem was, the wedding was in a week and as we know, altering a suit takes time ... BEAUCOUP time. Enter Nick at 'Kings Contrivance Formal Wear & Custom Tailoring'. Man, does this guy know fabric or WHAT?!?!? 1st off, my suit is linen - a pain in the azz to iron, let alone alter. Not as bad as silk but boy-o-boy, get ready ... Nick put all my fears to rest. I change in the suit and he takes out his 'chalk' and starts measuring and marking the suit up ("OMG! What are you doing, dude? This is CREAM and ur marking it all up"). I come back running late and grab the suit - no time to try it on at the shop. I get home and the pants are 'too short'. The jacket is 'too loose' ... OH NO!!!!!! Oh well, I'll have to make it work, I think. I grab the rest of my wedding attire (bow ties, ties, shirts, vest - hey, a brotha has to have options, right?!!?), and I head out the door. I get to the hotel, take my shower and start getting ready. What I didn't realize was that when I tried everything on at home, I had no shirt and no shoes on (which meant MUCH MORE than I realized). At the hotel, with the shirt, vest and shoes on, BOOM!!!! The suit fit perfectly. His measurements were 'DEAD ON' PERFECT!!!! The pant leg 'broke' EXACTLY where we decided to have it. What to do when you realize you can attend a black tie event the day before and not own a tux? Go see Nick! I called Men's Warehouse and was turned down and was expecting the same thing when I visited this small shop. To my surprise he was able to accommodate me and hemming my fiancee's dresses. When I went in to pick up the dresses the next day he told me 4 more people showed up for tuxes. If he has coats available in your size in stock, he will most likely hook you up. I'm not too familiar with tux rental pricing but I think Nick's pricing is competitive. The whole wardrobe which included tux, pants, shirt, vest, tie, cuff links, and shoes costed me total of $141.80. Hemming for the dresses was $45 and $50. My fiancee was very pleased with the work done on the dresses. He seems like a master of his trade too. If he can tailor a suit for someone tall as ex NBA player Manute Bol (7 ft 7 in), I'll bet that he can do one for you as well. Nick also didn't charge me at all for keeping the tux an extra day when I called him about it. I plan on using his services again if I need tailoring or formal wear needs in the future. read more

Awesome SUPER FAST AAA1 service. Levan Le sets the bar high. I called Mens W in Columbia on Wednesday asking if I could get a tux by Saturday. They told me they could not guarantee delivery in time because the tuxes are shipped from the warehouse. I called KCFCT on Thursday with the same question and Le said "Sure! I can do that!" I said "you mean if I come in your store on Friday morning, I can have a tux by Saturday noon?" Le said..."cmon in Friday...I'll take care of you." I didn't ask him the cost but I IMMEDIATELY thought ...Columbia...1 day turn-around, lots of loot...$$$$$. Get there Fri am right at opening time , and "my man" Le jumped into action. He had me measured and in a vested tux, in the color that I wanted, in about 20 minutes....with a surprising low price and a discount making the total price way below $200. I agreed. On first try-on we pointed out where improvements were needed, I gave him back the jacket and pants and he tailored them to perfection in about another 15 minutes. Le had me put it back on and it was magic! Exactly what I was looking for !! I was out the door with a full tux in ONE HOUR! Ordered 6 tuxes here for our wedding. Received one with a tie instead of a bowtie. The ring bearer's shoes did not fit. My husband was told his tux would be free then he was charged for it, and instead of just righting the issue he got a lecture and paid anyway. My groomsmen and I went to Nick last October for our tuxedo's and all came to one conclusion. If you like anywhere near Columbia and you need formalwear for prom, wedding, etc. or just need to have a suit tailored, this is the place you need to go. Heck, we live in Alexandria and we still chose him based on his reputation. Nick is the epitome of professionalism and is an absolute master of his craft. On top of that, he is more than willing to go above and beyond for his customers. --Need to pick up a tuxedo early? No problem. --One of the items doesn't fit quite right? He will tailor it on the spot. (He will insist you try everything on when you pick it up for this exact reason) --Can't get the tux back to him the day after the wedding? That's alright, just get it there before the truck comes to pick them up. --And my personal favorite, the one thing above all that evidenced to me just how much he wants your special day/event to be perfect? My wife and I could not decide what vest and tie color combination that we wanted but eventually picked one because we couldn't mull it over any longer. What did Nick do though? He ordered all 3 different combinations we had been considering and had them all in the tux bag waiting for me to try. I was amazed. All of these things provided/accommodated with no hassle and, more importantly, no charge.
