8.11.23 This was my…read morefirst time shopping here. I generally don't shop at thrift stores because I am a germaphobe, but I was next door at Ross and had time to kill. This thrift store has mostly used items, but you'll also find new items with the original tags still on them. They have apparel and shoes for men, women, and kids. Additionally they have home goods including toys, kitchenware, appliances, electronics, linen, books, sporting goods, and much more. I was pleasantly surprised to see a number of designer and high quality apparel with the original tags still on them. While other apparel items looked only lightly worn. Among the brands I saw were Vince Camuto, Coach, White House Black Market. Most of the apparel were between $5-$20. In perusing the dresses, I was impressed at how stylish they were. Most of the shoes I saw looked worn and dirty. I wouldn't purchase shoes unless they were brand new. I didn't buy anything this time, but will definitely come back to shop for apparel.

The Columbia 2nd Ave has some of the worst customer service I've experienced at a thrift store,…read moreespecially compared with the Laurel location. During our visit, my wife picked up a bundled stack of empty DVD cases that appeared to be with the merchandise, and instead of simply explaining that they were for store use, an employee abruptly grabbed them away from her. We were completely fine with them not being for sale. The problem was the unnecessary rudeness. Other employees were polite enough to double-check, which made the first employee's behavior stand out even more. The pricing is also far too high for donated merchandise. I tested several electronics and small appliances, and a few were defective or did not work properly, yet they were still priced aggressively. When used items are priced close to retail, customers should at least be able to expect basic functionality and decent service. I contacted the company afterward and received a generic response that technically answered my question but did little to address the actual experience. The Laurel store is much better managed and far more pleasant to shop at.

Updated version Hi All,…read more  I know that everyone is different & everyone has a different notion about suits & what to buy.   But, if you need and are looking for a new suit and you are not an off the rack fit or perhaps you like made to measure (MTM) suits that are well constructed (full or half canvas) and that fit well, then please consider Art Solop of Benchmark Clothiers.     Art is a very nice friendly gentleman who knows his business & he offers very good MTM suits at reasonable prices.     I've tried to have MTM suits made by highly rated online vendors & even at one vendor at a brick & mortar location in D.C. and they can't compete in quality, amount of customization & fit. He can do almost anything from different types of pockets to styling to various linings and other many varied customizations all at the same price.  He doesn't even charge differently for different fabrics unlike many others.   My father was a custom suit fitter for Barneys NY and then for a custom uniform company in NYC for many years & he taught me all he knows about how a suit should fit. That's made me pickier than most when it comes to suits, how they fit and their construction for better or for worse. So believe me when I tell you that Art Solop is good & his suits are really well made. He is knowledgeable about Shatnez and has ascertained from his manufacturer assurances that his wool suits do not contain any linen.  Of course this is not a guarantee and I am not advising anyone not to have their clothing checked.   I highly recommend trying Art and Benchmark Clothiers for your next MTM suit or shirt. He can help with off the rack suits as well for about $400.00 inclusive of pants finishing - hem or cuff). He will do tailoring on your old suits too. He just tailored two of my older suits (Not even purchased from him).   If you tell Art that Simmy sent you, we both get $75.00 g.c./credit.    https://baltimorecustomsuits.com     All the best!   Simmy

I cannot speak highly enough of Benchmark Clothiers and Art Solop. I recently bought three suits,…read morethree custom shirts, and several ties. Art came to my office and helped me select the perfect colors and styles for my suits, shirts, and ties. The suits are well made, expertly tailored, and look great. This is my first time purchasing custom tailored dress shirts and I don't think I will ever go back to purchasing off the rack. The fit is amazing and all the little extras from the thread colors on the button holes to the liner in the collar truly make them one of a kind. From the quality of the product to the friendly, attentive personal service, I would highly recommend Art Solop and Benchmark Clothiers.
