If I could give Kings in Mendham a -0 rating I definitely would!! Issues with bad gourmet cheese, breaded chicken cutlets that tasted like they were cooked in old dirty oil, and today I opened a fresh Red Roasted Hummis to find green mold! I have also been spoken to by a deli employee who was down right disrespectful! Kings prices are 25-30% higher than Shop Rite and you cant trust that the food will be good and safe to eat!!! "Tuesday's chicken special" The employee that makes the first batch of chickens should be reassigned to the deli. Every Tuesday I get to the store around 11 am and all the roasted chickens are burnt. I have to go back around 1 pm for the second batch that are better. However, today even the second batch were overdone and dry. read more

My grocery delivery for the 2nd time was not delivered. If you phone customer service you speak with someone, you will get the Philipines! That will never work, common sense tells you that. When one nice young man rang me to say the delivery wasn't going though he had been told the store had contacted me. They never did. I have shopped at Kings in Bville and now Mendham for as many years as they have been there. DO NOT use their delivery system. This is a SERVICE and KINGS DOES NOT PROVIDE IT WELL. I really like the wide range of high-quality products when it comes to meats and produce. Definitely the freshest and of highest quality. They also have great sushi and sandwiches, which they can custom make quickly. The blueberry pie cake they make is the best dessert there! read more

Didn't realize until I got home, but I was charged 21$ for a rotisserie chicken. In comparison, I just left Whole Foods and paid 8$ for an organic chicken. This grocery store is taking advantage of the clientele in mendham. read more

Kings use to be an expensive but high quality store. Since became managed under acme/Albertsons the quality has gone down. They seem to be keeping the Kings name but turning it into an Acme. More and more of the products including produce has moved to the Acme brand, much poorer quality than what Kings had carried. No longer worth the premium pricing. Many are now shopping elsewhere. Visited the Mendham store at 7PM, 8/21 to buy some fish but the fish display case was entirely empty. I asked the person there if he could get me some salmon, but he said that he didn't have any. To make matters worse, there was a poster board at the entrance advertising three fish specials. But Kings had no fish to sell. I almost erased it. Store closes at 9PM. Does the fish dept. keep different hours? read more

Customer Service experience. Yesterday (4:01 pm) I called the Kings to ask if they had Nutrional Yeast because it's not common and I needed it in a recipe. The lady that answered said she was pretty sure they had. I asked if she was 100% sure because it was the only item i needed and i didn't want to drive over if they didn't have. She said she was 98% sure so I asked her if she could look. She said no she couldn't look and that I would be better off going to a health food store. Really? I worked at grocery stores all through HS and college and if my boss ever heard me say that he would discipline me and remind me that without customers and their loyalty we wouldn't be in business. Great service, great quality. Flight got in late and by the time I got to the store the fish department was closed. Gary, one of the managers, personally cut me a piece of salmon, and made sure I had everything I needed. Horrible service! They usually only have two registers open no matter how busy. Both registers take huge orders, they don't seem to ever have any "10 or 20 items or less" registers open. It's incredibly frustrating when you're only running in for one or two items and have to wait 15-20 minutes to check out! read more

Come on....we all go to Kings knowing there is better quality other places and that we are getting ripped off. What I find amusing (no longer annoying) are the clowns behind the deli counter. What an aloof, clueless and unfriendly bunch they are!!! They seem very unhappy. I can't tell you how many times I go to the counter perfectly willing to but the pathetically uninspiring food they have on display, only to leave empty handed, unable to deal with the staff's lack of professionalism. Look, it's just Kings, let's not get too serious about this. When we want quality we drive the extra 6 minutes and go to Whole Foods. But is funny to sometimes pop into Kings and watch the buffoonery at the Deli counter. Priceless. read more

I recently moved to Morristown and am living near kings. I was very excited to have what I perceived as an upscale grocer within walking distance. Well no more. Their employees are surly and rarely smile. They do not seem interested in enhancing your experience or even caring that you are there. I have asked for change several times and they are not able to accommodate. All of this on top of limited produce which is in the downside. I have taken to stopping at shop rite on my way home where the people are nicer and the prices are much cheaper. read more

Kings is a very nice, clean, smallish gourmet super market. It was my go to over Shop Rite when I was looking for something special and unique that you may not find in a regular supermarket. As a rule, it is a very expensive place so I never went there as a general shopping trip for staples, but it certainly provided products that weren't available anywhere else or were of a higher quality. read more

i'd just like to say great renovation they have made. Items are a little pricey but they have superior quality. The manager Andres is excellent he always helps me with whatever i need, always smiles, always knows what he is talking about. Cant wait until renovations are complete. read more

I have a different view of the renovation. The selection is actually smaller. Since they have taken out displays, it would be unique to find the selection to be larger. They seemed to focus on obscure tastes rather than food that is main stream for the customer to prepare to their own taste. You had better like the way they preseason or prep foods because that is all that is available. So finding something you want is frequently impossible. The service has suffered as well. The store may say it's hours are until 8 or 9 but in fact they put things away almost two hours before. Salads are gone, deli is all wrapped up and the employees are cleaning dishes with their backs to you while they hope you go away. If you do get their attention be ready for an eye roll or sigh before they tell you they will have to unwrap it or they just cleaned the slicer. Don't bother trying to talk to the front desk. It is a waiting game. They hide in the back until one of the cashiers calls them out. Then they ask you to wait while they go do something else. read more

Multiple catering orders have been a nightmare as have been given food with expired dates on it through catering service at three times normal price. Multiple catering failures, yes multiple failures and yes my fault for returning, but close to home. Promised by manager, BM, would never happen again, it did. Talked down to by catering manager Tanya and Sean for serving me expired food and no one returned calls, "we were busy , you know how the holidays are" really you served my family expired food, what if I served that to you? Kings is a wonderful gourmet grocery store that has all sorts of rare foods from Europe and all over the world, as well as an array of different prepared foods, soups, delicious types of coffees, and a decent supply of different kinds of pastries. Are used to live in Morris Township, and I had gone there quite often, because it was pretty close. I very much enjoyed the atmosphere, and especially the different types of foods they had around the holidays. But the customer service was ridiculous. There what is this one guy Who worked at the deli wouldn't keep his trap shut. But worse than that was one of the night managers, who just didn't seem to know the concept of common courtesy, and customer service. He seem stressed, which is understandable, especially during the holidays, but just altogether absent. The rest of the associates were under the age of 21, and didn't seem to know anything about what they were doing. Although I don't live in Morris Township anymore, I will always remember this place in my heart as a very stupid place. read more

This place has prepared food which is great however, what is not so great is the price. You are definitely paying a bit over the top for the convenience. I for the first time in my life experienced racism at this supermarket. Firstly, it was my first time at this supermarket and ALSO MY LAST, throughout my search for my goods I was followed and looked at by employees. At one point, I even had an employee go out of his way to look over from the register area in the soup section to where I was standing in the cookie/snack aisle. As I approached the check out lane, the cashier lady with the british accent, so I think I heard, proceeded to look me up and down. I followed up with a greeting, but I received no response from her when which I knew she must have heard me. She proceeded to ring up my items in silence and put my items in the bag and left the bag on the conveyer belt. I swiped my card and the cashier handed me my receipt and at which I point I noticed that she had mumbled something under her breath. Then I had to REACH OVER the counter to retrieve my bag. I found this very strange and rude since I had noticed that for the previous customer she had left the bag in front of the register. Lastly, while I was gathering my items another customer approached the same checkout lane I was in. However, this customer unlike me was of a different race and was actually greeted and treated like a valued customer. I'm completely displeased by my service at this specific Kings. I plan to spend my money elsewhere, like perhaps the Kings in Florham Park or Morristown, where I am not subjected to such racial profiling. read more
