Well the other day I paid the delivery driver with a $100 bill and the total was only $25 (included $5 tip). The driver scrambled to find change. It took a while. In the confusion, I gave him $75 instead of the $25. I had a handful of 5's so I thought it was the bigger amount, $75. Wrong. It was as much my fault as the driver's. For all he knew, it could have been a very large tip. I DID tell him I wanted $75 in change. He walked off with my $75. The next day I called the manager after I realized my mistake. The driver came out immediately and returned my money. The manager/owner was on it!! And the driver was honest. Tipped him for being honest. And their pizza is great! read more

I ordered a pizza from this place as I only had cash on me. It was simple, large pepp pizza. Their photo showed it with loads of pepp on the pizza. Let me start by saying that the pizza here has excellent flavor! The sauce is definitely on the savory side, which is what I prefer as opposed to the bizarre choice to put a sweet pizza sauce on your pizza. The New York style pizza has a thin and crispy crust. Overall, a great tasting pizza! My only qualm with their pizza would be the fact that they use a cheaper grade mozzarella. This is evident because after the pizza sits for 10 to 15 minutes and the cheese cools, the cheese immediately becomes rubbery in texture. A good quality mozzarella will retain it's stringy and gooey texture, even after being taken home and reheated. For this reason, I give this place four stars. If they used a higher quality cheese, then I would go ahead and give the fifth star. To the owners, please upgrade your mozzarella to a premium mozzarella cheese, as we are paying premium prices for the pizza. We don't want to have to stop visiting your establishment over this. On another note, the salads at this place are excellent and they give you really big portions. I definitely like the Gyro and the bacon chicken avocado salad. Service is fine. If Kings starts using a better cheese, I will gladly give this place the fifth star it deserves! read more

Behold the pizza place where everyone shuffles their feet! Well by everyone I mean all the staff. I thought the floor was magnetized or incredibly sticky... Nope floor was fine. I would have given them no stars, but the garlic "knots" were OK and they gave me a full refund. My first time there, I was excited to try their pizza since a friend always raves about this place. Walked in and it was empty even though late afternoon on a Sunday. Reception at the front counter was less than enthusiastic from single employee in sight, even after I explained it was my first time there, etc. I grabbed a menu and my friend and I looked through it at a booth. After figuring out what we were going to order, I walked back up front to find the same employee now sprawled out on the floor in front of the concession area, restocking napkins. He appeared clearly pissed off I was interrupting him as he approached the counter. He took our order and explained a few items for us, and as he was about to ring us up some other guy took over. This other employee was older and clearly had authority, possibly a manager. He tried to tack on and additional $1.75 and after some discussion we changed the order slightly. We wound up ordering an order of garlic "knots" and a medium pizza, half pineapple and half fresh tomatoes. The order of garlic "knots" was served within minutes of sitting down. We were served 6 "knots," they were tasty and not too oily. One of the knots was so burned it was black, and we tossed it out. When the pizza arrived, it appeared more like a large, with the cheese so thick it looked like congealed glue. The side with fresh tomatoes had been topped with quartered tomatoes, instead of the customary slices once sees on pizza. The crust on the half with pineapples was completely burned. The older employee brought the pizza out to us, and became very argumentative when I pointed out that the crust was burnt. He stated that the pizza was "how they make it" and that if I didn't like it next time I should "ask for it light". I asked him if it could be remade, which annoyed him further. He agreed to remake the pizza, and stormed off with the burnt pizza. In the next few minutes we decided as we sat there waiting, that eating something prepared by someone who is seething at you might not be such a good idea. I walked up to the counter and told the older employee that I had changed my mind, and would like to cancel the pizza order. I informed him I wanted to pay for the "knots" and get going. Instead, he curtly provided me a full refund and we left. We have no plans to ever return. read more

King's Pizza is, by far, not the best pizza in Hagerstown, but it's close to where I live and better than some other options (national chains, that remain nameless). The pizza here is decent: okay dough, good sauce, but usually too much cheese. They give you the garlic dipping sauce for the dough (ala Papa John's) which can add a little excitement (and stinky breath). They have good subs and salads, I've never tried any of the pastas so I can't comment of those. Overall their food gets an okay rating from me; definitely not the best but not the worst either! This part of the North End of Hagerstown doesn't have a whole lot to offer as far as restaurants go (too many fast food and national chains due to the proximity to the highway), but King's is the only place that delivers, so they get three stars for that!! read more

My husband has eaten here for lunch a few times and has had good experiences; however, yesterday we were passing through Hagerstown and we decided to stop. This was my first time here and I was not impressed. The food was good. We'll at least get that out of the way - the food was good and so that's what bumped them up to a three star rating. So we got there and the girl working the checkout was probably in her teens or early 20's. We walked up to the counter and she just stood there, looking at us. I started to place my order and ordered a sub. The sizes on the menu are Small and Large. We eat at a lot of sub shops and sub sizes vary greatly, anywhere from 4-12" and "Small" and "Large" are not distinct units of measurement. Anyway, before I could finish telling her what I did not want on the sub, she cut me off and wanted to know what size I wanted. I asked her what the sizes were and she replied with "Small and large". Well! No kidding! When I asked for further clarification, I could tell I'd pushed her too far and she was pretty much done with me. I was certain she was going to tell the cook to spit on my food. My husband ordered next and we ordered a drink. Finalized our order, she gave us a number placard and we sat down. We had a short wait for our food and the lady who brought it out must have had the worst day ever as she herself was just as grumpy. She deposited our plates on the table and at this point, I realized we never received our drink. I informed her that we didn't get our drink and she ignored me and left. Drink never came. I didn't want to deal with the attitude at the counter, so I just let it go. While eating our food, I was facing towards the counter and many of the staff just stand at the counter staring at everyone eating. It's very strange and very uncomfortable. One guy walks around in sunglasses the entire time. I cannot tell if it's because he has a sensitivity to light, or if it's so he can stare at people without them being able to tell if he's staring at them. Every time I looked up at the counter, the employees were standing there watching the customers eat. I was quite ready to leave at the end of our meal! Every time we order from here everything is fresh and super hot and soooo yummy. This place should have more stars. I have had the pizza so cheesy large slices and greasy just like true new York pizza. I have also had the shrimp parm a couple of times and it's so darn good. It comes with garlic bread which has to much garlic for my liking but also a super fresh side salad and the entree comes with spaghetti and between 6 to 10 LARGE sauteed shrimp. Its just amazing love that it's not fried. We also had the Greek salad and it's very good. The gyro meat and large chunks of feta (I love feta) and their sauce is yummy.
