I love the food here. I have been to the Frederick location also, but this is much better. Food can sometimes take a little bit to make but it's all freshly prepared. The front counter staff taking your order is typically so so, but the people making the food are great. The menu is large but so great. I've had the hot dogs, calzones, sandwiches and pizza. Everything is amazing. You can't go wrong! They also have a full bar if you're into that. My wife and I came here a little before 1pm on a Sunday. Since we are visiting the area and were unsure of their COVID operations we called in advance. We were told that they were open for carry out, delivery and dine-in so we headed in. When you walk in you are asked to wait just inside the entrance and we were quickly greeted and provided a seat. We were the only people inside other than the two employees who appeared to be busy preparing to-go and/or delivery orders. We looked through the menu and everything sounded delicious! The interior is warm, welcoming, clean and cozy. My wife chose the regular sized Italian calzone and I ordered the 8" meat combo pizza. We learned that all the dough is made from the pretzel dough. Our orders arrived about 15 minutes later and looked really really good and tasted just as yummy! We both really enjoyed them and only wished we had more room in our stomachs to enjoy one of the stuffed pretzels for dessert but before we leave town we plan to stop back to grab at least one to go! Stopped in with the family today while visiting from Texas. The bread is amazing in no matter what you use it for. I love the homemade chicken salad sandwich. The salad was very fresh which was great. The kids were a bit iffy about pretzel dough for pizza but that was instantly devoured. read more

While thrifting in the general vicinity we sought the help of Yelp for lunch suggestions. I'm not at the point (yet) that I'm willing to dine indoors due to covid and since it was too cold to eat outside carry out was a must. Hubby and I have very different palates when it comes to food so finding something we could agree on was a challenge. When a joint incorporating pretzel into their food menu was recommended and close by it felt like an appropriate compromise. I viewed their menu online. You do need to download the menu (which I had to attempt several times because my phone is maxed out on memory) but was able to do so successfully eventually. While I called in our order you do have the option of ordering online. What set this eatery apart was their focus on pretzels. Hubby is a big fan of pretzel rolls and was happy to see several sandwich options on their menu. I assumed (and maybe I just missed something) that sandwiches were made with pretzels or pretzel rolls. More on that later..... Their location was a few blocks further than I suspected and in the heart of downtown Hagerstown. We drove around the block a few times with heavy traffic and couldn't find them. GPS kept telling us we arrived only we didn't see any signage. In the end I ended up parking 2 blocks away and walking the street alone. Hubby stayed behind with the car as we were at a meter. The entire area has metered parking and the closer you got to the "center" the harder it was to find a spot. Little did we know parking is free on Saturdays. Even walking I nearly walked pasted them. They are housed in a large several story building at ground level. The building appeared to be old and luxurious in its hay day and was nicely redone for the eatery. On the way in I noticed the designated parking out front for curbside pick up. The interior had space (all very spread out and safe due to covid) for indoor dining and a massive unattended bar. Our food was ready by the time I arrived. I didn't check it before leaving. We each ordered a sandwich and a large hand cut fry to share. I asked for salt packs since we were eating in the car, only they didn't have any. I was disappointed, especially during covid that carry out salt/pepper were not an option. In the car we opened our meals (which were packaged well with sturdy cardboard containers) shocked to find bread similar to a focaccia when we were both expecting pretzel rolls. I'm not sure if this was my fault or if it wasn't described on the menu as such but we were less than thrilled. The sandwiches were more bread than anything and very dry. While I did ask for mayo, hubby's cheese steak was void of any sauce and bone dry. The lettuce on mine was bib variety and fresh, the meat on both was a little skimpy. Fries were good but for a large not big enough to share and more the size of a fast food medium. They were nicely salted thankfully as they don't have salt packet's. Both sandwiches were more bread than fillings. The meal was ok but didn't make sense why being a pretzel place they wouldn't use pretzel rolls. A pretzel roll not only seemed more appropriate given their theme but better suited. While I was more accepting of my meal hubby was very unhappy. read more

writing reviews is not my thing specifically bad ones. But after long pondering here it goes, hopefully to help the staff and more importantly the "guy" in charge. A couple of weeks ago myself and the wife went there after listening to some music at the university plaza. when we got there only one table was eating by the front window, a family of five I believe , their was another young couple looking at the menu, no one else. We looked at the menu and order a couple of thins to take home, calzone and some pretzel bits. we order before the young couple so really before anyone else since the only other table was already eating. After we order the young couple order and a few minutes later the place got "somehow" busy. Now, (1) the food for the young couple comes out before ours, (2) food comes out for another table that enter the restaurant a good 10 minutes after we order. (3), it's now 55 minutes waiting (keep in mind it's just a calzone and pretzel bits), so I go to the counter and just ask the young lady that I would like my money back, it has been too long, she told me she wasn't able to do it, it had to be the manager (the guy I referred above), she lets him know, but he is busy I understand, but after about 10 minutes of him avoiding me and of course no food yet I called him (I could see him) and said come on man we have been here for an hour no food, tables got served before that came after us just give me my money back. To my surprise this so called manager or owner or whatever he is, instead of just saying I apologize for this situation, here is your money, no he started yelling that this is MDonalds, this is not fast food place, keep in mind it has been over an hour by now. I explain to him the details of when we order there was only table eats no and we order before anyone else after that, and surprise surprise he calls me a liar. We didn't lie and all this guy had to do was giving me my money at this point I didn't even wanted an apology I vê worked in the restaurant indu probably longer than this guy, and no matter what waiting over an hour for your is wrong , serving tables that came after you is also a big no and much less calling your customers liars. I am writing this to hopefully "help" the restaurant and him and staff. Wasn't our first time there, we liked it before that's why we went back, but of course never again. This so called manager needs some help on how to treat customers, just plain (VERY) wrong. read more

I know it's a pizza shop, but you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches with pretzel focaccia here. The focaccia is salty, a touch sweet, and pleasantly chewy; enhancing whatever filling you desire pretty darn well. Our go-tos are the reuben, five meat combo, tuna salad (I ask for it hot to make it a melt), and turkey/cheddar/avocado. Calzones are a hit too (for some reason I prefer them to the pizza even though it's basically the same thing in a different form??) and the meat combo is my number one choice. For dessert, snag a soft baked pretzel stuffed with chocolate chips, PB chips, caramel chips, or if you're feeling fancy: chocolate chip & BACON (uh, yes please). These are incredible, really recommend. Generally I would not recommend ordering cocktails-- stick to beer, of which they often have some good choices. They're open for carryout and will bring called in orders out to the car. read more

Very good pretzel (I chose the pepperoni and provolone) which arrived super hot and was very tasty. A good amount of saltiness combined with the cheese and the meat for a super starter. For mains, I ordered the barbecue chicken pizza. The sauce was not too sweet and there was plenty of chicken. I didn't think I'd have any left over but after the beer flight (6 pours for $10) and then another pint, I had half a pie that was this morning's breakfast. Amazing, fantastic, mind blowing, delicious, I'll never be the same. I cannot express the love I felt just walking in the door. The smell of freshly baked pretzels was a gift from heaven. During the daytime you walk up to the counter to order. On weekends and evenings you have a server tend to you. Their pizza is phenomenal. I got the bbq chicken pizza. The plain, salted pretzels are to die for. I can not describe it. The pretzel hot dogs (we got all beef) are godly. The calzone was also delicious and full of toppings. They have one stall restrooms that are clean. Parking is a bit tight because it's street, but you don't have to pay after 5pm. It's so worth it! This was absolutely delicious! We made a quick lunch stop on our way to DC. I got the 1/2 sandwich Italian and Caesar salad combo. My friends got the loaded fries and grilled chicken sandwich. They won't win any prizes for ambiance or atmosphere. Quite frankly the lunch staff could use a class or two in business etiquette and professionalism. However, where food is concerned I have no complaints. The menu is vast and full of choices. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are more than adequate. So far, everything I have had from their menu has been delicious. From order time to delivery the wait time is average to fast depending on what you ordered. They have become my place to go whenever I don't pack lunch because I know the food is good and I'll get it in a timely manner. When you only get 30 minutes for lunch, every minute counts and so far I have not been disappointed by their service speed and the taste of their food. The place is called Pizza creation and I've never had one of their pizzas. I've been slowly going through every sandwich on the menu, but I have not gotten to the pizzas yet. However, if what my coworkers are telling me, the pizza there is just as awesome as a sandwiches if not more. So I'm definitely looking forward to my first bite. read more

I went with four others on a weekday afternoon. We were impressed when we walked in: it's a big, beautiful space. So many of the buildings in downtown Hagerstown have great bones and Pretzel did a great job polishing the place up. My BIL thought it looked like Flagstaff, not Hagerstown. You walk in and a sign explains what to do: grab a menu and walk to the cashier to order (at the far end of the space). The folks wanted to sit down and we settled into a nice long table by the windows. We took our time reading the menus and a worker helpfully reminded us to order up front when we were ready. This was super smart on his part because some in our group hadn't realized this, despite the signs, despite me telling them what to expect. So good catch on his part--I could see people sitting down and waiting. And waiting. And waiting. My other half and I shared a 14 inch veggie pizza. It was a very good pizza. Not authentic at all--don't go to a pretzel shop expecting that--but it was delicious. It had a variety of fresh vegetables including broccoli. This is not a place that dumped canned food on your pizza. The hint of sweetness in the pretzel dough is a little unexpected, but it works. We resisted the strong urges to eat the whole pie but resisted and took 2 little pieces in a to-go box. My FIL got an 8 inch bianca pizza and devoured it. He was a happy soul. My MIL in law got some sort of steak sandwich that was giant. She liked it. She got the Old Bay french fries for an upcharge instead of chips but they were WAY too salty. She used a paper napkin to try to wipe them off and then pawned most of them off on the rest of us. My BIL got a chicken sandwich that he enjoyed.
