I have come here many times over the years. In fact, my dad and I used to come here regularly until he passed away in 2023. Cute little diner conveniently located off of hiway 81 in Hagerstown. We stopped for an early dinner and was kindly greeted at the door with smiles. The tap beer was cold and refreshing. Fun menu with options for everyone's cuisine desire. The steak panini was wonderful, and the pizza had a great crust and nice flavor with a little kick. Fries came out undercooked but our server Brandon took care of that! We ordered desert to go for our hotel destination treat so cannot comment on it at this posting but it looks divine! The food is absolutely delicious!! So much so, that my 17yo son has asked several times if we can eat there again. Food tastes fresh, ingredients seem top-notch, and our to-go orders were delicious! I do have to mention that the exterior design (or lack there of) does the restaurant absolutely no favors. I have driven by dozens of times, but the front looks so shabby, I would never have considered going in. It's a shame, because the dining room is actually quite lovely. We started with the Bao buns, so good! I had the Korean Pork rice bowl, and he had the short rib burger. You know the food is good when you are moaning and rolling your eyes toward the heavens! On July 30, I walked into an empty restaurant at 8:33 pm to be greeted by a waitress who just stared at me in disbelief. Knowing that they closed at 9:00 and surprised by her reaction, I asked her if it was too late to get service. She smirked, then turned to look at the clock, then turned back and told me they could do a "take-out order." I politely declined and backed out the door. She never asked how many people were in my party, there were 4 but there could've been 10! I love this restaurant! I eat there often. More than once a month. I won't be back any time soon. read more

Cafe Del Sol is a great lunch place! They have excellent Paninis, wraps, sandwiches and salads. You can also get burgers, pizza, pasta etc. Their house made chips are good. I think they would be excellent if they had Old Bay Seasoning on them. Today they had a lunch special of 1/2 a panini, a side or chips and soup for $12.99. It was very filling and good. Highlights include the Cabo (flatbread with grilled fish, mango salsa, slaw, and other sauces), the Cuban (although ask for less mayo and more mustard if you want it more traditional), really any pizza or calzone, salads, and soup. I have been here many times and I've enjoyed my meals. Today, however, I was disappointed bc not one waiter or waitress had a mask on. Not one. Although I am fully vaccinated, I still wear my mask to protect others. The last time I visited this restaurant, the servers wore masks. Not sure what changed... smh This in no way is badmouthing the service or their food. I just feel masks are still a necessity indoors with people congregating, especially with the low vaccination rate in Washington County. read more

My absolute favorite was the bao buns; I'm definitely coming back for more!! I also got the strawberry tres leches. Cafe Del Sol was quiet a surprise find in Hagerstown, MD. Not far from the confluence of I-81 and I-70 we found this gem tucked away in a very non descript location. We came for lunch and to our surprise, the inside was an eating oasis with tasteful decor and great smells wafting from the kitchen. The service was outstanding, including a quick turn around of our orders. Three of us opted for the 1/2 panini, soup and fries lunch, while the other selected a salad. Wow! we stopped here on our travels and I am so glad we did!! I had the pork tacos and I probably could eat them every single day! Yes! They were that good! During our travels, my wife and I happened upon this place a few times. Although the appearance from the outside is somewhat plain, the inside was inviting and well attended (a good sign). After reviewing the menu, I decided to go with a salad ... specifically the California ... and it was great! The salad was abundant and all the ingredients were so fresh. It was pretty good. Portion was average. A little slow on service as they were really busy at lunch. Wide variety of menu items - Italian - Mexica - Greek. I ordered a Gyro and Salad. The gyro had good flavor and had meat, feta cheese, tomato, onion and tzikki sauce. The salad had a great dressing on green lettuce mix with tomato and olives. Overall very good. The ambience was modern, upscale and We went around 1:30 pm, on the tail end of lunch time. And yet the place was packed. There was no table for us right away. What a complete disappointment. I arrived at Cafe del Sol today at 3:40 pm. A server came to our table within 5 minutes of us being seated and took our drink order. I advised her that I also wanted to order an appetizer, the ahi tuna tostadas. About 5 minutes later, she returned to tell us that they were out of ahi tuna and she asked if we wanted anything else, so we ordered fried avocados. We advised her that we also knew what we wanted to order for our main meal as well, and she said that she would put our appetizer order in be right back to take our order. I again explained that we knew everything that we wanted to order but she once again said that she would come back to the table to get the rest of our order. At 4:02, she came back to our table and brought our appetizer order and said, 'so do we know what we want to order'? Well yes ma'am. We do, and have known as we had previously stated. I asked for the combination meal that I always order every time I go to CDS, which includes half of a sandwich, soup, and a side item. The server said, 'I apologize, but that option is only available until 4pm'. I said- you can NOT be serious? And she said, 'I sure am'. I was astonished to say the least. I have been a customer at this restaurant for many, many years... but I can honestly say that I will NEVER go back. The service is crap, and the food has gone so downhill!! It was a restaurant that I could always count on getting good food and service from, but this particular visit - that didn't happen. I ended up ordering fish tacos, and my son ordered a rice bowl with steak. The steak was so tough like beef jerky, and my fish tacos were just ok. The fried avocados were repulsive (see picture). I have worked in a restaurant before as a server, and as a prep cook. Whoever sliced the rotten avocados HAD to know that they were in fact -ROTTEN!! Luckily - I broke one of them in half, because had I bit into this repulsiveness, I would have even been more livid then I already am. If you are considering going here, don't expect to get the same food or service as this time last year, because it's not going to happen! It seems that the staff just doesn't care any more. I usually love coming here but today was not great at all. Ordered an appetizer and got it fairly quickly. Asked for plates so everyone could share. Those took forever and we finished the appetizer by the time the server came back with them. I ordered a panini sandwich with no lettuce, tomato, or aoli. I got my sandwich and it had aoli. I asked for a new one. Took a long time. Everyone else was done eating and I had to go to the counter to ask for it. I was handed the sandwich with lettuce and tomato on it. I finally said forget it, I did not want a new one as everyone else was done eating. Took forever to get checks, no drink refill for offers, and no apology for ruining my lunch. read more
