I ordered the ribeye with potato rare plus-medium rare, I told the waitress, please don't overcook... the chef did not, steak came out good, and the cut of meat could have fed 3 people... no kidding, it was at least a 20oz cut... Quality was good, seasoning was good. Had a good crust and barely warm red center... juicy, I liked it. Hav ego understand different places have different definitions of cooking... outside of Texas I order one level less! Can always add a little fire to it... Baked potato was fresh and ingredients all good, bacon was actual bacon not bacon bits. Pricing was very fair, especially if you are coming from a big city... we had steak, shrimp and grits, a couple of drinks, and the bill was right at $100, where I come from that is a good deal. Waitress was attentive and did a good job. I was happy with the service... in my book, you get the food right, that is 80% of the job. Not fastest service, but still good. Had the best cheese sticks ever. Shrimp and grits was a very tasty dish. It was not "traditional" but it was in top 3 I have ever had. Come for the food! On of my favorites for a long time for a weekly drink, a very nice appetizer (or salad) and a great piece of steak or seafood. This is one of the few places in the area that can consistently cook a "blue" steak. Kings has always been a favorite place if mine in Oxford. Great service and great food. Nikki was our waitress and she has been my server several times and as always was great. My family got the all you can eat shrimp with sides and it was great. On a Graduation weekend the only place we could get a reservation was at king's steakhouse. We were seated promptly by friendly host who also was our server. First we have noticed sticky and dirty floors and crumbs left on multiple tables that we could see and on the seats of the booths, clearly left from the night before because we were the first guests of the day during lunch. Friendly staff but the food quality just keeps declining. They were having a special for $40 today. 10oz filet with one cluster of crab legs and a side. Sounds fair enough, except it was not a filet and it was not good. It was literally tougher then a piece of well done sirloin and I ordered it rare. Other guest had the 8oz which wasn't the special and it was the same meat. Guys you have to do better. No kitchen staff came to check on the issue , no discount, just a sorry it wasn't good. The place had 3 servers working and the amount of business they probably only had 2 tables each. Our server was the same as we the last time a very country and looking server. The server visited our table 3 times in over an hour, another server served our dinner and then he came bye after we flagged him down for condiments. Wasn't thrilled when we went on a Saturday evening. The place wasn't busy but service was disappointing, especially for somewhere with an automatic gratuity on a ~$40 meal. Took about 20 minutes to get our drinks, and they forgot an entree which took another 20 or so to get out (and it was a salad). I came for the all you can eat catfish for $15. The fish did not have the thin and crispy batter that I was used to and they brought out one piece at a time. A catfish buffet is a way better deal. I finished my entire portion in 5 minutes and 11 seconds. I paid 29 dollars, which translates to roughly a dollar out of my pocket every ten seconds. On top of that, I received a carrot about the same color as the underside of a leather shoe, accompanied with canned mushrooms sautéed in a poor excuse for soy sauce. I may have had better food at McDonalds. This place is so very average I struggled giving it 2 stars. It was SUPER loud to begin with. I asked the hostess if we could get a table for 3 outside and she never responded to me and next thing I know we were sitting inside at a ackward table in front of the kitchen hallway. The menu is ridiculously small and not appealing. If you want a steak, great, overpriced for the place, but good. If you want shrimp cocktail, forget about it. If you want any kind of salad DO NOT GO HERE there is no salad option AT ALL! So weird. My sons ribeye was good but over seasoned, my husband wanted something small so got the add on lobster tail and he said it was good. I got nothing but a baked potato and thats hard to screw up and it was hot but tough inside and I have made better ones. On the whole not a good experience for the price. I had house salad with chicken. Maybe 5 chicken tenders in the salad. My husbands side salad was the same size. 1 oz dressing on the side not enough for an entree salad. BIG issue was wine choices. They were out of the pinto Grigio I requested so substituted house brand. It was worst wine I've ever had. Sent it back. For. $45+ meal it was terrible. Wish we had gone to our second choice.
