The bread was soft and the place was clean. It was a tolerable experience but I'm not sure I'd be back for a few reasons: 1. The window graphics say wings are available, but the menu board inside does not have them listed. I asked the cashier and he says they are, in fact, available, but he was real hesistant on admitting that. 2. The menu board advertises two different sizes of "soup of the day". Neither size was available when I went due to "it being too hot outside today, so they didn't make soup". (PS, I live in AZ, when is it *not* hot. Also, I eat ice cream when it is cold out, so I don't follow the logic on his excuse) 3. The ratio of bread to meat on the meatball sub & turkey deluxe was 50/50. Too much bread with not enough meat/toppings. Again, as mentioned before, the bread was soft and fresh, so there's some points for that. 4. The pastrami sandwich does not include pickles. Had my husband not been craving a sub and his favorite shop, Jersey Mike's, was nowhere to be found, we would have driven right by this nondescript joint. My husband yelped it and we trusted y'all when we rolled up. It was our pleasure when we stepped inside to meet Shah, the kind proprietor of Kings Subs. He rattled off a few fan favorite subs upon request and we chose the Big Boy, minus the mayo, on Italian bread. Think of a cold cut and it's on that sammy. Everything was fresh and tasty. I have been in AZ for 10 years and work close to this business, I have been to this sub shop infrequently but it has always had good sandwiches! Stopped in today for one since it had been a bit and was surprised that they had a couple people rate the owner as rude. The owner has always been very pleasant. Paid for my lunch by Apple Pay and mentioned that paying sure had Changed from our "day" (showing our age) but he recalled his early days of working a cash register like I remembered doing, long story short, be kind and engage people and put the phones away and find they are doing you a service and treat them as such. This is the 2nd time I have come here, first time I found it by complete accident and grabbed lunch for my son. He said it was good but he's the type to pretty much like anything so I told myself I would have to come back to try. I work down the street from here, It's definitely a mom and pop shop, and does seem to have a steady flow of customers. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak on Italian bread, the bread was so soft and delicious. My sandwich was pretty good overall and the prices are good. I will definitely be back.... I did keep seeing people grab the pizza... I'll have to try that next time. read more

I love this place, the owners are the best , they have the freshest on deck sandwiches I always make sure I go at least twice a month because they are so good! especially in the summertime when you want a light and filling meal. I have no idea how I missed Kings since I taught down the street for decades and I am always on the lookout for a great sub/sandwich place. However, alas, I apparently did. I actually stumbled onto it by accident after running an errand in the neighborhood and looking for another place I thought was this one. I walked in and realized it was not the place I was thinking. But Hey, that worked out well. A lost was a find. Ha! Anyway, the place is one of those quintessential, " Do not judge a book by it's cover" type of places. It is old and not very pretty. The bathroom is not that great for sure. Ha! I will say that upfront so expect that. The neighborhood is not too great either but I never feel unsafe over there. I only say that because the drivers are worse than the usual worse PHX drivers, if you can imagine that, and saying a lot. Ha! Just be careful and try not to make a left out of the strip mall. Okay, so about the food, It was really good. The sandwich I got was not bad. Roast Beef sandwich. I would like to come back and try more of the items that they have to offer. The menu has a good size of selections for such a small sandwich shop. They all looked very good. People have commented on the pizza. Hmmmm, I am a pizza snob. I am always trying any pizza in town that I have not tried already so I definitely want to come back and try it. Check Kings out. However, I would say it is not one of those places you would travel far to try so don't make an extra trip unless you happen to be nearby. read more

Looks kinda lonely on the outside but the food and the prices are great in my opinion! I got the vegetarian sub & it was loaded with veggies & very fresh ingredients! (I forgot to ask for banana peppers tho). I also got a slice of cheese pizza and it was delicious!!! It was the last piece of cheese they had so it was kinda cold but honestly the flavor was good so it didn't matter to me. Plus I eat cold pizza lol. You could prob ask to heat it up tho. There's parking right outside. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu options are extensive, including a Gyro sub (which my friend had and was great), I opted for the King Club. The bread is REALLY good and the meats and veggies, tasty and fresh - Certainly a superior sub. The place is clean and straightforward, with a pleasing atmosphere... The prices are very reasonable. So the sign says NEW NAME SAME OWNERS. My opinion it should be new owners. I stopped in because it was near my office and I was craving a sub. The communication with the lady behind the counter was awkward and it seemed like they were doing me a favor by taking my order and were upset and a bit pushy that I was unaware of their ordering method. I was the only one ordering so I wasn't holding up the line, I placed my order and got my sub, I did not specify any condiments on my sub so all I got was meat and bread, I wasn't asked if I wanted either. I want to be kind, because this guy is super nice. I have been here DOZENS of times. (I worked across the street when it was Cousins, and down the block when it became Kings) HOWEVER............. The only sub I'll stick with is the pepperoni...ANYTHING else and you are taking chances! They just got pizza and they say they serve by the slice, but they don't really. My slice was way way ....WAY over heated. It took 15 MINS!! Which at the time was half my lunch...thank goodness it was only mins away from my job. It wasn't heated in a toaster oven, no way... it had to have been chopped off of some other larger frozen piece and heated in a microwave in the back. It was unedible. I'd had so much junk that day that I was ok, but ugh...horrible. The bacon I got on (can't remember the sub, but I remember the experience) was in 'chunks'... not slices...(??) Like it was off the cheaper parts of something. I think he's a nice guy, but I don't think he really cares about serving quality. I was told by someone once, that the reason he renamed it "King's Subs" was because he wasn't following Cousin standards and pretty much had to buy out and disassociate. I think he just wants to work and make money and is willing to serve crap because he knows the area is at a disadvantage for quality places to eat... :-( Thank goodness I discovered a burger joint down the street.... wow... far far better. read more

I go to kind for carry out once a week. The Subs are great (usually the Philly, melt, or roast beef). They never disappoint!

First time eating, except the fact that we have been waiting 15 min for a pizza and a sandwich, the food is so amazing, so exotic. Yummy!!!
