Large pepperoni and jalapeño
Kaho G.

Food is yummy and you can order pizza's extra crispy! We like to order the Big Geno for gatherings always is more then enough for all the kids and everyone loves it... service is always really nice and friendly and the restaurant is very nice and cool after coming in from the Az heat to wait for pizza.. Definitely would recommend this pizza place it's a new family favorite! It's not always good thing (can't be eating pizza everyday) but who cares the food is sooo good.

Chicken wings well done mild. These wings are trash, no sauce, all oily with just barely cooked wings.

Chicken wings are raw, pizza is oily. They is to be good. Overpriced and made with no quality.

I'm ashamed it took me this long to write a review of Submarinos. This place is fantastic. On my first visit I tried a slice of their meatlovers and a slice of their Sicilian. Both were excellent. On my second visit I had their "Assorted" sandwich, which was fantastic. The biggest surprise of them all? Their burger. Yup, a pizza joint that makes a killer BURGER! They make their own buns in house, and they look like giant garlic knots. They've even got shoestring fries, which I love. Even their cookies rock, so give them a try.

My favorite pizza spot nearby. It's just so good. The pizza, wings, calzones, subs and surprising enough, the burger. They have a great burger served on break that's like the knots, it's delicious. Friendly employees and comfy inside. Never had a bad experience here and I've been here 10+ times. I went to a pizza party where everyone brings their own pizza and I picked this place, brought a pepperoni and jalapeno. It's was easily the most popular, blew barros and the other bullshit out of the water. Love this place.

The Super White, with spinach and roasted red peppers swapped in for the tomato slices and red onion slivers.

We found Submarinos through a post in the Arizona Pizza Lovers group on Facebook. I had read up on the place in advance, and knew that it had a lot of great things to offer. We started with the garlic cheese bread which, I will tell you, has to be the best garlic bread, and garlic cheese bread, that we have ever had. They get their baked goods delivered fresh every morning from Capistrano's Bakery in South Phoenix, and you can tell it's fresh. Then they make the garlic butter in-house, lavishly apply it to the bread, let it soak in, then chill the combo to allow the butter to re-congeal and form a layer within the bread. They then bake it to order (with or without cheese), and the result is phenomenal. The bread is soft on the inside, has just the right crisp on the outside, the Roma mozzarella is fresh, flavorful and gooey (and is a healthy but just-right amount), and then that layer of buttery goodness delivers a punch for a finish. They serve the bread with a large side of fresh, thick, house-made marinara sauce, also outstanding, more savory than sweet. Heaven in a basket, and I mean that. (It went so fast that I didn't even have time to remember to capture a photo. The closest I could come was the remnants of the sauce cup!) I then moved on to their meatball sub (my wife saved room for the pies). Same bread, same sauce, freshly-made meatballs, covered with a liberal amount of the same cheese and baked. Meatballs were moist and flavorful, and everything played well together. Delizioso! 'Nuff said. (I managed to snapshot the back end of this one.) Then the stars of the show arrived at the table, hot and fresh. They were arranged in a double stack, with a half-and-half cheese and pepperoni/sausage pie below, and a Super White pie above. The half-and-half was the 12 Days complimentary: the cheese golden brown, the sausage well-seasoned and all the meat cooked just right. The crust was baked to a nice color and crispness, with the requisite, foldable flop. The Super White was comprised of an olive oil and garlic base, with ricotta and mozzarella cheeses and the same savory sausage. It normally also comes with a liberal covering of sliced tomatoes and red onion slivers, neither of which appeal to us and which we thus swapped out for roasted reds and spinach. I then had asked for an extra crisp (well done) cook on this pizza to both cook the heavier ingredients longer and establish a firmer base to hold them, and the crew happily obliged. Everything was done to order, and it couldn't have been executed better. The manager, Lacey, bent over backwards to deliver for us. As we had a substantial amount of leftovers, she brought us take-home boxes and even refilled our marinara dipping sauce cup and provided us with an equivalently-sized side of ranch (you can see from the photo that these cups are not small). As we went in the middle of the afternoon, the clientele level was very low, so she also had the luxury of patiently chatting with us and answering any questions we had. She was extremely personable and we could tell she had a passion for serving great food and making customers happy. Short story long, Submarinos was an excellent find for us. Thus far, in a long line of great west side pizzerias, we rank it our favorite.

Lunch special -Small Philly
Rebekah D.

Very welcoming, I came in during lunch. It seemed like there were a lot of regulars or they are just that personable. The guy working the kitchen came up to take my order since another worker was on the phone and the other was cleaning. I liked how it was very clean. She swept up the dining area about 3x in the hour I was there. The food did not take long, I just ate slowly for once. There's Pepsi products, Gold Peak iced tea. I had a lunch special, a small hot sandwich with a drink and chips. The sandwich I had was the Philly, but they also had things like a Chicken or Eggplant Parm. The guy taking my order said the Philly was one of their best sellers. I have a big appetite and I ate the sandwich but saved the chips for later bc I was pod off just the sandwich. It was nicely done, not too salty which is always good. Definitely not too greasy which is generally a concern of mine with Philly sandwiches. It was tasty. The bread was toasted, and had a decent flavor. It wasn't too cheesy, which I'm sure some of y'all might say, you can never have too much cheese. I'm just saying it was balanced. I definitely want to come back and try other sandwiches or maybe to satiate my sweet tooth. They have cookies y'all. Yasssss.

Eggplant Delight Pizza

Love this place!! Best take out pizza for a night in at home, we've never actually dined in. We fight over the last slice in this house! It's not on the menu anymore, but the staff is always so kind and makes the Eggplant Delight for us still. It's truly a delicious pizza and I'm grateful for a vegetarian option that goes beyond just peppers, onion, and olives. We also love the garlic knots, especially with extra red sauce to also dip your pizza crust in.

Their smallest size whole pizza is 16 inches. I got myself one of those with 3 toppings and it cost me $22.30. It had 8 slices in it and 3 of them made me full which means that it's $8.36 for a meal. The only topping I felt meh about was the ricotta. Otherwise, service was friendly and they made my pizza in 18 minutes of time. Parmesan cheese and crushed red peppers are also free unlike some other chain pizza places out there.

While the service was adequate, the food more than made up for it and quickly became the highlight of the evening. We started with the Sicilian Strada Board, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Beautifully presented on an impressive five-foot board, it offered an abundant assortment of flavors and textures. From the perfectly crispy calamari and creamy polenta to Tomaso's signature meatballs, every item was thoughtfully prepared and incredibly flavorful. The artisanal cured meats and cheeses paired wonderfully with the bruschetta, Roman artichokes, Sicilian olives, and sweet fig jam, creating a memorable appetizer experience that was perfect for sharing. We also ordered the Cured Meat and Cheese Board, which was equally impressive. The selection of artisanal meats and cheeses was excellent, complemented by fresh grapes, grilled ciabatta, Roman artichokes, olives, and fig jam. Every bite felt carefully curated and highlighted the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients. For my entrée, I chose the Cacio e Pepe, a classic dish executed beautifully. The freshly cracked black pepper and pecorino created a rich, velvety sauce that coated the pasta perfectly. Simple in concept yet incredibly satisfying, it was a wonderful example of how a few high-quality ingredients can create something truly outstanding. The cocktails were also exceptional--easily a 10/10. Expertly crafted, balanced, and delicious, they complemented the meal perfectly and elevated the overall dining experience. The Sicilian Butcher offers a vibrant atmosphere, generous portions, and food that genuinely impresses. While the service could have been a bit more attentive, the outstanding cuisine and phenomenal cocktails make this a restaurant I would happily return to again and again.

The decor is a bit dark, but chic & colorful. Our server, Esmerelda, was fantastic: funny, attentive, polite. There was a guy there who seemed to be the Jack of all trades. He brought us our food, I saw him behind the bar, and even bussing tables. He, too, was friendly & smiley. Cocktails: they had a great selection but we went with plain ol' Cokes. That's okay, we'll partake of their boozy drinks when we visit again. Food: parmesan truffle fries were aah-mazing. I even told Esmerelda they should add a pizza with the garlic aioli. The buffalo mozzarella had a bit of a kick to the sauce; we could have used more toasted bread to dip into it. We ordered the heaven and bianca pizzas. The crust was thinner than normal, which I was happy about, and the flavors of both were delicious. Dessert: despite not finishing the appetizers & pizza (no worries, we thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers!), we opted for a gelato flight. It was divine, and hefty samples. You wouldn't think 4 oz was much, but of gelato, it was plenty. We selected chocolate, strawberry, salted caramel, and mango. If you haven't tried Roma 23, I highly recommend it. Even if you don't live close by, it is worth the drive.

When we did manage to get in, we ordered a glass of pinot noir and Pelligrino to drink. The waitress brought out a glass of white wine and insisted this was their pinot noir... even the bartender confirmed. So the staff is NOT wine savvy, I wouldn't trust their recommendations on pairings here either. They didn't have any Pelligrino left, so I ended up getting an arnold palmer. However, when they brought the check out, the Pelligrino was still on the tab and we had to ask them to take it off. We both got pasta, the lasagna and the chicken masala, and a caesar salad. The noodles tasted like it was made in house, which was nice. Chicken was not overly breaded and the sauce was light. The salad had too much cheese but I think some people just like that on their salad. I'm interested to try their pizza at some point in the future, assuming we can make it in time before they close ;)

First the Pizza, I must say, the toppings were plentiful to say the least, it must have had close to an entire sausage on it, loads of pepperoni and a lot of mushrooms. I did have to add a bit of red pepper as I like a bite to my pizza. A few shakes of parmesan and I was off the races. The salad arrived shortly after the Pizza. Nice salad with lot of different thing, lettece, carrots, olives, cherry tomatoes, onions, radish slices. Overall, a good and plentiful lunch for $14.95. I did not sample any wine, but it appeared that this was a main staple of the restaurant, they have wine tastings once a monty. Looks like the place has been open for awhile and I am sure they have a following. I would give it high marks, good food, clean, friendly wait service and reasonable prices.

The food, decor, and ambiance are fantastic. My family and I ate at L'Amore 2 nights in a row, and had we discovered it earlier in our vacation, we would have gone every single night (not kidding). While we've had equally delicious meals at other restaurants (all over the world), we have NEVER experienced such friendly, accommodating and welcoming service as what we received at L'Amore. I said to my husband "this must be what it feels like to be a member of a private club", and he agreed. We have an adult son with autism who will only eat a few dishes at restaurants. I called several restaurants to see if they serve chicken tenders and french fries; ALL of the restaurants we called said no-- until I called L'Amore. When I explained our situation, I was connected to the kitchen, explained our situation, and the chef immediately asked his staff if they had any potatoes to make french fries. (French fries are not on the menu). They said yes, and the chef said they'd be happy to make french fries for our son. When we arrived at L'Amore that evening, the owner/manager came by our table to welcome us. Our server, Sal, could not have been nicer, and addressed our son by his first name all evening. His co-manager assisted our son in accessing his iPad via their WiFi. When we returned the second night, the young male concierge welcomed us by name (even though we hadn't told him our name yet), and both managers visited our table that night. Sal was helpful in navigating the menu, recommended a wine by the glass that is typically only served as a bottle, and was incredibly kind and attentive all evening, without ever being intrusive. My husband and I were so moved by the kindnesses shown to our family. We'll never forget it, and look forward to returning to L'Amore on future vacations. Thank you, L'Amore for rekindling my faith in humanity.

It came with grilled ciabatta, arugula, shaved red onion, and a Calabrian vinaigrette. The burrata was incredibly creamy and paired perfectly with the tomatoes, while the crunchy ciabatta added a wonderful contrast in texture. My husband chose the Sicilian meatballs, which were served over creamy polenta with rustic marinara and grana padano, also a very solid dish. For our entrees, we had the hot honey & smoked prosciutto pizza and the strozzapreti, a pasta dish with herb-roasted chicken, mushroom, spinach, parmesan cream, truffle, and pine nuts). Both were fantastic! The pizza nailed that sweet and savory flavor profile, and the crust was absolutely perfect. The strozzapreti was also delicious -- rich, creamy, and packed with mushroom and truffle flavor. Last time we visited the North Italia Phoenix location, the pasta was a bit too soft and lacked that proper al dente bite, but this time it was cooked flawlessly. Unfortunately, the desserts were a letdown. We tried the hazelnut torta and the tiramisu, but both were overwhelmingly sweet. The tiramisu tasted soggy, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a long time instead of being freshly made, and the chocolate balls on top felt unnecessary and cheapened the dish. The service was also a bit of a mixed bag. Somehow our desserts were brought out before we had even finished our entrees. As a result, the ice cream on top of the hazelnut torta just sat there melting by the time we were ready for it. It made the end of the meal feel rushed, like they were trying to turn the table over quickly.
