Our family love kings wok express. Their food is usually hot and fresh throughout the whole day even when they're about to close especially if they're busy or on the weekends. They keep adding fresh food. Other places you can tell the food has been sitting under the hot labor for a while, but at kings wok express I never had that problem only once, but it was late. Also if they run out they'll make you a new one. Most of their dishes are good. It can get pricey though if you add a lot since it's by the pound. And sometimes if you don't speak up they pack that $hit! Their drinks are pretty good too and I like how they don't use powder for their thai tea. Ambiance is pretty chill and quiet just people talking. Oh they also have a Mongolian noodle thing where you choose your noodle, meat, and veggies and they cook it for you. Their food is fcking delicious you can taste the flavors. It's a clean environment. The service was great. They are also open on Christmas which is great when you don't feel like cooking. Their prices are pretty good. I got 2 plates and drinks for about $30 bucks which is great cause normally it's like $40 to $50 for 2 people. The place is kind of like " Genghis khan mongolian bbq" there's an option for you to do it yourself or have someone else do it for you. Compared to other fast Chinese food places I would rate King's Wok Express with four stars, but compared to most Chinese restaurants it's more average, probably just a three star experience. There are three basic food areas. Normal combination plates, a Mongolian bbq, and smoothie drinks. There are the classic fast-food Chinese items. From several visits there, the best item I've had is the Kung Pao Chicken. Personally, I didn't care for the Mayo Shrimp, shrimp mixed with pineapple and mayonnaise, but someone else I was eating with really liked it. For the Mongolian Wok experience, enter the items you want on a clipboard, and someone from the restaurant will select the items from the food counter at the side of the restaurant. I tried this one time and the result was rather lackluster, and I've not tried it again. Hands down some of the best fast food Chinese food we've had in a long time. The folks there are very helpful. Even allowed me to try a sample of new item they had. Love the fact that they were very transparent with all the foods and container sizes. Super clean ambiance and fresh food! I picked up food for a gathering and the girls were so nice. I really like this Chinese buffet/Mongolian BBQ restaurant a lot. The food is consistently very fresh and tasty, prices are good and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It recently became my go-to for a healthy and affordable meal near home. It's on the NE corner of Carson St. & Western Ave., situated on the east side of a modest strip mall there (where mall parking can be tricky, but street parking is also free). I'm not an expert on Asian foods, but in my life experience this place covers all the standard Chinese fare well, and the Mongolian-style cooked-to-order option is fun. Either way, it seems both healthy and appetizing. I wrote this review 8 months ago, and it's just as good today. Just 30 minutes ago...... I phone ordered a chow fun tray and asked if they make that. The Chinese lady says yes. I ask her it's chow fun noodles right? The wide flat ones? She answers yes. My husband was working in this area and saw a long line for King's Wok so he assumed the food would be good. He ordered chow mein, general tso's chicken, orange chicken, fried chicken and wontons. Going up to the register, he did not realize they charge $6 per pound. They literally weigh your food. Chow mein - 5/5. Big size noodles with flavor. General Tso's Chicken - 5/5. Big size, great flavor. Orange Chicken - 1/5. Big size but flavorless. Fried Chicken - 3/5. Great crunch, needs more flavor. I mainly eat Chinese food for the orange chicken and fried chicken. Due to the Covid-19 Guidelines, they no longer allow us to scoope food which it understandable. However they still sell food per lbs. When I order 2 servings, the lady put a lot of food and also teriyaki saurce that resulted $21! I never paid more than $10 for just a Chinese wok in my life. New, different and affordable are the first three things that come to mind when I think of the newly opened King's Wok Express. This place was formerly a Hong Kong Express and is now under new ownership. It's not your typical Chinese takeout place either. It's all "self service." They have a array of Chinese food as well as Mongolian Wok items. You get the container and fill it up with the food items you want. They then weigh your food items and you pay. It is $3.69 per pound. It's like Yogurtland but Chinese takeout style I thought the concept was pretty unique and a pretty good deal. They have all the typical Chinese take out dishes like orange chicken, kung pao chicken, mapo tofu, beef with broccoli, eggplant with garlic sauce and green beans. It's nice to be able to mix and match. On my first visit here I got to try a little bit of each of the following: the teriyaki chicken, orange chicken, spicy chicken and green beans and mushrooms. I thought every thing was good in flavor. The green beans were nice and crispy. The spicy chicken definitely had a kick to it. Aside from making your own combos, they have appetizers that you can purchase. The appetizer prices are amazing. You can get a fried chicken stick for 65 cents and egg rolls for 65 cents! This is a great deal! Speaking of great deals, the best deal that I saw here was for their slushies, smoothies and drinks. Slushies are $1.99 and smoothies are $2.49. You can add 50 cents for boba or rainbow jelly. Thai tea with boba, thai tea, ice coffee and ice mocha are all also $1.99. I got to try their passion fruit slushie with boba and it was so refreshing! This is going to be one of my go to places for boba from now on. $2.50 for a slushies with boba can't be beat! This restaurant is affordable and the food is good. It is a ready made Chinese carry out or dine in. I've been coming here since it changed owners and it has definitely improved. The people who work here are very hard working and clean. They have always been courteous and helpful. They offer many choices. Great orange chicken, terriaki chicken, and the honey shrimp is really good! The plates are priced by the pound and for rice, noodles, and two entree's it's about $10.00 and it's a large amount of food. It could easily feed 2 people. I just left this place, but the guy "serving me" came from sitting in the lobby eating, on his phone and doesn't even bother washing his hands. The least you could do is use sanitizer!
