My friend swears this restaurant serves the best ramen in the South Bay so we had to try it for ourselves. Seating is limited and it fills up quickly so we got there at 6pm on a Tuesday and secured a table with no problem. The selection of ramen is quite large and the staff is friendly. We all ordered the Garlic Bomb with Spicy Miso broth. They offer spice levels from 1-10. I got a spice level of 3 and could have gone 1-2 levels higher. The ramen does come with 1 chashu piece, so I ordered an extra 2 pieces and the boiled egg. It definitely is really tasty and worth waiting in line for. read more

This time I had the Yuzo Tomato Wagyu Ramen and, who, the flavor was unique and delicious. First time I tried this dish and so glad I did. Really filling and leave me wanting for more (which will be next time). Service quick, friendly and attentive. The price for such a great entree was very reasonable, as well as their other ramen dishes. Parking at the location. Is hit-and-miss. The immediate parking area shares at least 5 dining locations so there are a lot of cars. But the lot is large so just park a little distance away and don't stress about not finding a space right at the entrance. I go there every time I'm in the area and occasionally make the drive just for their wonderful meals. The restaurant looks nice, it's clean and well taken care of. Their Ramen is very good if you like spicy I recommend get a level higher than 4 we chose that one thinking it would be extremely spicy ( it wasn't ) well at least for our taste. I absolutely love the Shacho Ramen here I know it's probably not traditional or whatever but it's broth with the Sesame paste in it just tastes so good to me. It has been years since I have been to Kyo-Ryu . Recently I was at a nearby Home Depot for an errand. It was a cold and chilly night and ramen seemed perfect. With Ko-Ryu right there; it was meant to be for me to get ramen here once again. Wow! I was quite impressed with my ramen dinner here. I honestly found myself asking why it's taken me this long to come back. I got the Shacho Ramen. I was so impressed with how big the ramen was. It came with two large pieces of pork shashu, lots of ground pork and noodles. The ramen also had sesame paste as well as sake in its broth. The flavors of the ramen were abundant and it was definitely very enjoyable. I got it mild and it had just the right spicy kick to it. It was definitely a great ramen and did the trick for a chilly night. Aside from the Ramen; we also got the Chicken Buns here. Their appetizer comes with two. I was expecting the Chicken Buns to have crispy Chicken karaage but it was a grilled version instead. The Chicken Buns were ok but was a bit on the sweet side. The champon, like other reviewers had already mentioned, include cheap ingredients like imitation fishcake and crabmeat and completely not worth the price. Wouldn't be back. This is hands down one of my favorite ramen spots in the area. The broth is always delicious and flavorful. The bowls are filling and packed with tasty ingredients. I usually do take out since I live close by. I noticed the interior is nice and cozy when I pick up my food. Their signature ramen is my go to and the kale noodles are my absolute fav. This place is super small, service is great and we love the fried chicken curry ramen. It's very rich and flavorful without being overwhelming. They put the chicken on the side so it doesn't get soggy. We usually go to the location in San Pedro it is bigger but the food tastes the same. Most rudest customer service lady behind the counter! She claims to be the manager!!! The lady would not let us eat our to-go order inside the restaurant. We preordered as there was a lot of us and we were on a time crunch and wanted to make sure we had enough time. Ends up we had more time to eat than originally anticipated AND it was raining outside. This lady would not let us eat THEIR food we bought at THEIR restaurant inside THEIR restaurant. She wanted to keep the tables open for dine in customers. That would have been fine if they were busy but there were only 3-4 tables occupied inside the restaurant at the time. They had another whole side of the restaurant open with 10+ tables vacant. Our group spent good $$$ there and it was raining, and she wouldn't budge. Owner of this restaurant needs to have a serious talk with this "manager" to treat her paying customers better and have better service skills. Got take out today. We got a few Koi ramen, Vegetable ramen, Chanpon, Spicy miso ramen, karate and Gyoza. The noodles were cooked perfect. Soup was light on flavor. (The lids to the soup was mixed up) When I think of Chanpon ramen I think of shrimp and scallops etc. This one was imitation crab, kamaboko (fish cake) and squid. Karage came with a sauce, first time for us. My vegetable ramen was very good. Parking on a weekend here is a nightmare! I went in and got the take out, the lady at the register showed me where it was, a huge box plus another bag. They did package it nice! No spillage! Thank you to the blonde server (sorry I didn't get your name) for offering to help me! She was busy but still noticed I was struggling and took the time to ask me if I needed help. I ordered a Champon Ramen. As you can see in the picture, the imitation crab came in a plastic wrap. When I told the server, she apologized and took my ramen away. I waited about 3 minutes. I've been going to the location on Crenshaw pretty regularly for the last couple of years primarily because of the convenient location and nice service. I went there today with my vegan date, who ordered the vegetable ramen with kale noodles (instead of the normal egg noodles). Her order came to the table with egg noodles. No big deal, she told the server about the mistake and sent it back to be exchanged. When the ramen with kale noodles arrived, they were clumped together in blobs that had obviously not been prepared or cooked properly. Not wanting to send her meal back for a second time (we try not to piss off someone who can piss in our soup), she ate what she could and paid for the meal. She asked the server for an email address or other method of contacting the owner and was told that was not possible. It doesn't look like the owner, Jay J, responds to his Yelp reviews, so we're submitting this review to let you know that you have lost a couple of long-term, regular customers due to our inability to give you some private, constructive criticism about quality control in your kitchen. read more

This place totally surprised me! I was not expecting the ramen to be that good. I happened to walk by as I was headed to another restaurant, and decided to look at the menu. Since it wasn't too crowded, I decided to give it a try. They're located in the Torrance Crossroads Shopping Center near IHOP. It's a small restaurant with approximately 5 tables inside and a couple of tables outside. My advice would be to get there before their busy hours so you can eat the ramen when it comes out piping hot. I ordered the Garlic Bomb ramen with miso broth for $13. I love garlic and I wasn't planning on kissing anyone soon, haha! The ramen came out in less than 10 minutes and the broth was milky white. It coated the noodles perfectly and had the most amazing flavor. The garlic was surprisingly not too garlicky, but it was well integrated with the other ingredients. The texture of the noodles were chewy and there was lots of slurping going on in that restaurant! It comes in an oversized bowl, but don't be fooled by the amount that you get. It's actually a decent size! I noticed they had a wall of "Legends" and I'm assuming the people on the wall ate way too many bowls. The service was not the most attentive. There could be room for improvement there. I would return to try some of their other ramen options, along with some of their side dishes. A DineLA ramen run brought me to their location on Hawthorne Blvd and the experience there was memorable. I have since been back there a few times - they really were good food runs! Fast forward a few years later, I found myself on this side of Torrance. I was surprised to find one located here. I have been and gone to a few spots in this general area: Home Depot, Gen KBBQ, PIck-Up Stix (waaay on the other end), etc... why I didn't notice this place is beyond me. But I'm glad of the discovery. Party of 4, we were famished from running a few errands, and the majority of the group decided on ramen, being a cold SoBay night and all. There were a couple of tables open to accommodate our party, so it was nice just getting out of the cold and getting seated immediately. The menu is comparable to the one located on Hawthorne Blvd, so I pretty much had an idea what to get. The rest of my party, however, needed a couple of minutes. To hustle things up, I put in an order for a couple of apps: pork siomai and chicken karaage. PORK SIOMAI: Yeah you only get 4 pieces, but you get 4 big pieces. Much larger than the usual ones you get from other Asian digs. We were even able to cut each of them in 4's for small bites. Prepped and served hot and fresh. Came with soft dough and very generous filling (given its size and all.) It was good, but not great - the filling was a little dry and needed a little more umph. It can be better. CHICKEN KARAAGE: Like the siomai, it was prepped to order. It came through hot, so we let it sit for a minute before taking bites. Nice crunch on the outside and seasoned soft on the inside. But like the siomai, it needed a little more umph as well. Good, but can be better. GARLIC BOMB RAMEN (with a side of soft boiled egg:) It is what it says it is: garlic BOMB! The broth was infused with garlic and great depth. The noodles were cooked a perfect chew. The chasiu had parts of slight dryness, but good overall. The one thing missing: the egg. When I asked for it, they mistakenly put it in someone else's bowl. It was fine, sure, but I still wanted it, so I simply just put in another order. Man, that egg was cooked perfect. It added to each bite I took. FOOD: 4. SERVICE: 4. Not very much interaction, and other than the egg gaffe, better than average. VALUE: 4. Pretty comparable to most ramen places. PARKING: Huge lot shared with others, but this place is really popular, so it could be a challenge depending on the day and time you come through. Plan accordingly. OVERALL: 4. It was a good first run! It hit all of our hunger pangs just right and we left satisfied. Needless to say, they are now in my list of good eats should I find myself around this area again. read more

I would give 0 stars. the older tweeker blonde waitress made me very uncomfortable. im a three time legend at the San Pedro location. because I don't carry the photo with me for "proof" I was treated very poorly when I told them. they talked very loudly about me trying to "get free" toppings the entire time i ate until I got receipt.
