    Giant Chicken Egg Roll
    Jenn G.

Giant Chicken Egg Roll for the Win! Whenever I go to Redondo Beach Pier; I try to make it a point to visit Mini Chinese Food for their egg rolls. They offer some gigantic chicken egg rolls for $4. Some may think $4 for one egg roll might be steep in price; but it's actually a pretty good deal as the chicken egg rolls are not only big in size; but great in taste. They also make the egg rolls fresh to order and so you are guaranteed to get a nice, piping hot egg roll. Aside from egg rolls; I have tried a few of their combo items. Their combos are also huge portions and good for sharing or for two meals. I'll be back soon again for some egg rolls!

Orange Chicken ala carte Combo #8. Shrimp Stick & Teriyaki Chicken

I went to Redondo Pier and had a meal at a restaurant called Mini Chinese Food. Eating outdoors while soaking up the sunlight was such a wonderful experience. I tried the Chicken Teriyaki & Orange Chicken combo and the Shrimp & Fry combo, and everything was absolutely delicious. The shrimp, in particular, was incredibly fresh. The owner was working hard all by himself, yet he was so friendly and provided excellent service. If you ever visit Redondo Pier, I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Mini Chinese Food is a great place to pick up some fast food and enjoy a relaxing day on the pier, just grab the outdoor seat at the nearby tables. The menu includes a variety of combo plates ranging from $9.99-$15.99. Choose your favorite plate among panko fried shrimp, panko fried fish, charbroiled shrimp, teriyaki chicken, orange chicken, and chicken egg roll. Every combo plate, with the exception of #19 Panko Shrimp & Fries, comes with 2 sides: choice of fried rice, steam rice, or vegetable chow mein. But, they're flexible to do all rice or all noodles if you don't want half rice/half noodles. The food comes out fast and hot. Considering beachfront shops, the price point is good with large portions; each plate is enough for 2. Best bang for your bucks are: #10: 2 Panko Fried Shrimps, Teriyaki Chicken, and Shrimp Skewer $12.79 #21: Teriyaki & Orange Chicken with Fried Rice & Chow Mein $10.99 The shop is also available on major food delivery services including DoorDash, Grubhub, UberEats, Seamless, and Postmates.

Delicious gigantic prawns, teriyaki chicken and chicken egg roll on a huge bed of fried rice and noodles, YUM!

We always enjoy eating here! Quick, plentiful, and delicious. The owner is an amazing chef! And she is always so friendly and accommodating, as are her family members. I usually get the combo with the giant fried prawns, teriyaki chicken and chicken egg roll, on a generous bed of fried rice and noodles. Lots of different sauces to enjoy with your food, and ice cold drinks! Outside seating only. But the tables have umbrellas. We were even caught in a rainstorm once while eating there and stayed nice and dry under the umbrella while enjoying our meal. Excellent views too. Going back tomorrow, can't wait, it has been too long!

Service was amazing. Food came out very fast: Food was amazing. Nothing bad to say other than the tables outside could be bigger.

After a night of drinking and not eating (thanks, Oriental Breeze), I needed some food ASAP. It was about 11pm and there was barely anything open on the pier. Luckily, Mini Chinese came to my rescue! They only take cash, so I had to borrow some from my friend. I ordered the fried shrimp plate. The food was out in just a couple minutes. Took a seat on a table outside and devoured my shrimp and fries. They were soooo good! I liked that they had a big bottle of cocktail sauce on the counter so I kept going back and getting more. I thought maybe I loved the food just because I was drunk and starving, but after looking at the other reviews, seems like everybody likes this place! Can't beat a yummy dinner for less than $10!

I've lived in Redondo for awhile and never tried it but I have been curious. I went today for an early lunch, the gentleman was super nice, the food came out quick (always a good thing with a 2 year old) and it was delicious. The portion was huge! (The fries for the 2 yr old were really good too) We will be back!

Been coming here for years for their fried shrimp and chicken plates. Can't go wrong with anything on their menu but here are a few of our favorites, #7 orange chicken & fried shrimp, #9 Teri chicken, #19 fried shrimp & fries.

Our usual not-so-usual go-to for Chinese in the South Bay had been Seashore at Calle Mayor and PCH but I remembered the food being somewhat bland on the last visit several months back. We have also enjoyed Lunasia (for Dim Sum) and Ruiji farther east on PCH but it has been a long time (at least for Ruiji) and the reviews and pictures for Lotus looked really good. I also liked the All-Day Happy Hour! $3 house wines, beer and hot sake as well as the complimentary (and delicious) garlic noodles with $50 purchase ($11.95 value). We ordered the Crispy Crabmeat Cream Cheese Wontons ($10), Spicy Orange Crispy Chicken ($21.95), Kung Pao Chicken ($21.95), Sweet and Sour Pork ($20.95), Beef with Broccoli ($20.95), Mongolian Beef ($21.95) and Crispy Honey Shrimp ($25.95). Yeah, the prices, I know, but again the All-Day Happy Hour and the free noods! The food was a hit...everything was great, fresh ingredients, packed with flavor. The Crispy Chicken wasn't spicy so don't worry if that's not your jam...the Mongolian Beef was probably my favorite and the crispy honey shrimp was lightly fried "to perfection". I hate that phrase but it is appropriate here, truly. Service was excellent. The food came out very quickly and our server was fantastic. It was my 87 year old Mom's birthday and they brought out a cheesecake and candle for her too. We did have tons of left-overs so it will go a longer way which helps with the cost. HIGHLY RECOMMEND; they've definitely earned the top Chinese spot for me.

In short, I upped my rating and we'll be back in less than 2 years.

It's not tart and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. They put the right amount of sauce so it is not drenched. Pair it with the garlic rice and the salad that crops and fresh no dressing is even needed. Order this and you will be happy. The regular white rice is good too! Yelp had this place on its list of recos, but there was something about this place that drew me in... ... and it turns out, I have actually been here before. But it has been about 30+yrs since, waaaaayyy before my Yelp years! (SIDE STORY: My GodMom and grandparents used to live a couple of blocks away from here and we often ordered food here back in the day.) They are incredibly popular. All their tables were occupied (granted, there were only three or four) but patrons coming through were non-stop. Staff were efficient as well because given the line (there were three people ahead of me) they got us outta there pretty quickly. I went for half white rice, half noods, black pepper chicken and fried chicken/wings. (NOTE: they packaged the wings separately so it doesn't get soggy from the black pepper sauce - love this!) They were good at providing disposable utensils as well as sauce packets. It didn't take long before I was on my way back to work. Noods had nice flavorful chew. Rice was fluffy. Fried chicken/wings was crispy and savory with a slight hint of sweet. But the black pepper chicken was AM.A.ZING!!! There was so much flavor packed in every bite and couldn't get enough of it! There wasn't a lot of fillers either, so that's a plus. Highly recommending this! FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 5. They give you enough for a second meal. PARKING: Lots of space shared with others. Not an issue. OVERALL: 4.5. I couldn't stop thinking about the black pepper chicken that I just had to come back the next day to have it again. Paired it with orange chicken on that second run. Not as great, but it is one of their more popular items. (Most people ahead of me ordered it and the pan got refilled during both visits.) So it was a delight coming through here again as it brought back tons of memories. I even remember making many stops at the laundromat next door. Also drove by my auntie's old house. Ahhhh, good times! I shall return! If only for the delicious black pepper chicken!

We arrived during lunch hours and discovered they offer lunch specials, which were surprisingly affordable. I have to admit, I'm usually skeptical of very inexpensive lunch specials because, as we say where I'm from, "sometimes cheap ends up being expensive." In other words, I worry that lower prices might mean lower quality. That was absolutely not the case here. The biggest surprise of the meal was the dan dan noodles. Wow. They were absolutely delicious--easily one of the highlights of the meal. Honestly, everything we ordered was very good. The service from our server, Carlos, was great, and another server who was blond and spoke Spanish was even more attentive. Both were very friendly and helpful. We were so hungry when we arrived that we completely missed the "Wait to be Seated" sign and almost walked halfway through the restaurant before realizing our mistake--our apologies for that!
