Trim on walls and windows were also pretty dirty. Dust bunnies under the furniture. Didn't realize there were window shades as well as the light curtains on the windows until the second day. Was a little uncomfortable that first night but after we found the shades it was cool! lol :) Decent linens but was hoping for better quality and better mattress. Ample supply of towels. LARGE copper lined shower and big jacuzzi tub. So nice after a day of sight seeing! They had some candles around the tub but they were all used up. Coffee pot was located in the bathroom right next to commode which was a little weird. Hair dryer provided as well as an iron and ironing board. Wish that was listed! Small dorm refrigerator with a tiny freezer compartment. Great pastries provided on our first day and vouchers on the others. If you want a full breakfast with your voucher try Java Ranch! They had one for about $7 and the voucher is for $10. This cottage is great for the rate charged. $5 cheaper on the weekday. Provided two free bottles of water and two free juices as well, all waiting cold in the refrigerator. I would return because the rate is good and it was a cozy little cottage.

Do not book through their website or another like hotels.com without first calling the hotel's phone number at (830) 997-3330 and confirming with someone they are back open and accepting reservations! What an awful experience it would be to arrive and find you have no place to stay! As I said, we have lovely memories of coming here. My husband and I first visited in the summer of 2002 and last visited in the winter of 2010. We stayed there a few times and our families stayed there once while we were planning our wedding in the area. It's an extremely reasonable price, just on the outskirts of town so you can avoid a lot of tourist traffic and still get around, clean, quaint and best of all, they are pet friendly! It's the best way to keep cost of a visit to the area down, while still staying in a safe and clean area. However, I have to dock a star (would've been 2 but I decided on 1 in case it was out of managements control due to health issues) because of the poor communication that is affecting others. We were in Fredericksburg for our anniversary at the end of August 2020. We were driving around, nostalgically stopping at places we used to visit and pulled in here. The place reflects they've been closed for months, especially with the covered pool and the gazebo that needs a power washing. It was sad to see, but not as sad as going to google to find out if it was a permanent or temporary closure and finding that there were several reviews of people booking rooms and showing up to a closed location! Unacceptable! Your website should reflect the closure on the first page and hopefully an ETA for reopening, but at least a message about the closure- those poor would be guests! I genuinely hope they reopen again in the future and if they do, they are worth a visit because Fredericksburg has continued to increase prices at all other accommodations, including RV parks, restaurants and shops and this is really the best way to reduce the cost of your trip.

The patio is shared with the other rental unit but we never saw our neighbors during our stay. There was also a hot tub with a privacy curtain. Even though you share the courtyard area you have your own private hot tub and the other unit also has one. The bed was very comfy and the shower had a massager head that made the water massage your back when showering. My husband loves that part. Bed is very comfortable, but it's rather tall for shorter folks and could use a step stool you could pull out for greater ease in climbing in bed :) Now, for issues that would make it not a 'return trip' for us: First Issue: When we rent a home,that includes a living room, kitchen & dining, we expect this home to offer 'complete' privacy. It was advertised as having a 'private courtyard', but not made obvious that there were two rental residents within the home that would share the same private courtyard area to include the hot tub . Yes, there was a wooden privacy fence around it, but having someone else within that privacy fence cancelled the 'private' part from my perspective. Fortunately, no other resident showed up during our visit, but the anticipation that someone else could pop in or we come home and find other people in the hot tub, made it uncomfortable for us. You would either have your privacy intruded upon, or you would feel you would be intruding on their privacy. Second issue that didn't appeal to us was the uncomfortable furniture where tv viewing was located. I understand that the hostess/owner wanted a certain furniture style, and it was charming, but so very uncomfortable for watching evening tv... Last issue that wouldn't have been a 'deal breaker' if the privacy issue and furniture issue wasn't there, and that would be there is NO wi-fi and NO dvd player. Yes, they have tons of channels to watch as we were reminded of when asking about a dvd player, but we had brought some awesome new movies we were looking forward to watching while vacationing and were unable to do so :( My issues may not necessarily be an issue for anyone else, but we were the ones paying the bill, so I like to get what I'm thinking that I'm paying for...that's all. Sky Texas Hill Country Resort was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we booked to the moment we checked out every employee was SPECTACULAR! Always friendly smiles and excellent hospitality. The resort is beautifully nestled amidst the rolling hills, providing breathtaking views from every angle. The accommodations were top-notch; we purchased two cabins, and they were spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated with a touch of rustic charm. I especially loved the back porches where I could sip my morning coffee/tea (all provided in cabin) while admiring the stunning landscape and one of three ponds. The resort offers a variety of activities to keep guests entertained. We enjoyed renting the electric cart to tour the 250-acre well-maintained trails. For those seeking relaxation, this place is the perfect place! They have a sparking pool, games and other activities listed on the website and in office to keep everyone entertained. Family and pet friendly. There's a small menu you can order from their bistro as well as a general store with snacks and other items. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive, ensuring a delightful experience. They offer three ways to stay: RV, Cabin, & Nature pod. We stayed in two of their cabins. It has a queen size bed with two twin beds located upstairs in the loft. Full size refrigerator, stove/oven, stackable washer/dryer, Keurig, shower, toaster, all utensils cups etc. outside is a fire pit and picnic table. Three ac units and fan to keep the cabins cool. Fast Wi-Fi, smart tv, and all things needed for a comfortable stay. Before we left, we toured the nature pods, and they were gorgeous! So, we booked a stay in one for next month! They have exotic animals on their preserve that can be seen throughout the stay. I highly suggest renting one of their electric carts to explore. Overall, Sky Texas Hill Country Resort is a perfect getaway for anyone looking to unwind and soak in nature's beauty. Arrival day is the first issue when we went to putting our luggage away, panties were found in the under bed storage. Next day after visiting the pool, tried using the dryer to dry our towels and more panties discovered inside the dryer. Now really start to nice strings of dust throughout which is concerning at the least. Panties under the bed were picked up by the staff but after the second discovery, just gave up and knew housekeeping was a problem. Texted pictures to management staff as instructed by the front desk worker and it's been almost 2 weeks and still no word from the manager. Place suppose to be pet friendly as well but my dogs and other campers next door had plenty issues of burrs getting stuck to our dogs paws which in turn made them want to go back inside. I wouldn't bring my dogs back because of the burr ground issues.

If you look on Google at the business listing for the Buckhorn Cabin, or the photos I submitted on yelp here, you'll see they related evidence that correlates with the review I'm posting.You'll see a very thick coating of dust and dirt under the couch , that has not been dusted and cleaned in at least a month and would take about 30 seconds with a dust mop . There is mold growing in the bathroom behind the tub in the grout . There is a lot of fixtures that are loose in there are many fixtures with lightbulbs out . We pay close to $1000 for three nights I would least like to think that the maintenance issues were addressed in the place was cleaned up to at least a basic standard . If these issues were fixed we will definitely stay here again but the attention to detail here is surprising . ** UPDATE - Katalina from the management office called to offer her apologies and was surprised to hear the issues. She was very professional and very kind. They compensate us for the trouble. Due to the response and attentiveness, we will definitely be staying here again. I changed my 3 stars to 5 stars.

They said I needed to call booking.com. Booking.com said they would send an email confirming that it is ok to cancel the room, but they can't cancel until they hear from the hotel. But here is the crazy part.... the manager for the hotel is on vacation and will not return until the end of Jan. That is over 15 days during which no one can check the email and approve the cancellation. This is HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Someone at the hotel should be able to confirm that our room needs to be canceled. THE HOTEL CANCELED ON US. WE DID NOT CANCEL ON THEM. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WAIT 15 DAYS TO GET A REFUND.
