I truly enjoyed my stay here last weekend. It's super convenient to the sunset grill which has great breakfast. The man and woman that run the front desk were incredibly friendly! The room was clean and it had coffee and fridge. The price can't be beat. It is a "MOTEL" so don't expect the Hyatt. Tried to get a refund and was not able to get one. This is disappointing and disgusting. I've tried getting ahold of them and getting ahold of them through booking.com and they won't answer. Even booking.com had issues getting to them, and they told booking they wouldn't give me a refund. This is an issue. A nasty one at that. Terrible customer service. DO NOT BOOK!!!! Terrible hotel. I booked through booking.com, and the hotel called me and said that we couldn't stay there because we would arrive too late, AND they couldn't cancel the room. They said I needed to call booking.com. Booking.com said they would send an email confirming that it is ok to cancel the room, but they can't cancel until they hear from the hotel. But here is the crazy part.... the manager for the hotel is on vacation and will not return until the end of Jan. That is over 15 days during which no one can check the email and approve the cancellation. This is HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Someone at the hotel should be able to confirm that our room needs to be canceled. THE HOTEL CANCELED ON US. WE DID NOT CANCEL ON THEM. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WAIT 15 DAYS TO GET A REFUND. read more

1 night stay, booked thru booking.com, great price for the area on a Saturday night. It is a quaint little motel. If you are not too picky, it is a good nights stay for your money. Kind-of had a bug spray smell. I couldn't quite figure it out. But it didn't stink! *room was clean, just old. Parking lot very inconvenient. hotel door only lets you lock the door knob when you leave making me feel like someone could easily break in while we went out. My husband surprised me with an overnight romantic getaway to Fredericksburg! We stayed here and though not fancy by any means, it's clean and comfortable. The bed was great. The people who own it are super nice. One gripe is the people next to us were smoking and we could smell it in our room. So gross. Overall though, awesome! read more

Not a super posh motel, or a super cute eclectic place. I gave this 4 stars because it was great for what we needed and I thought some of the other reviews were a little unfair. Main reason we stayed here is because it seems like all b&bs in town, or at least all that I called, required a 2-night stay. We were coming from San Antonio and didn't need 2 nights. It is a small bed and room. But it was clean with a flat screen tv, working fridge and microwave. It is a good value and comfortable place. Clean and convenient to Main St. Wasn't impressed with the way you have to pick up your room key after hours. Left in box in front of office. Anyone could have picked it up, opened the door and been inside. Not safe. Also the beds are very hard and pillows are worse. I'd take your own pillows if you stay there. Pros: friendly staff, great location and quiet complex. Cons: way overpriced for the setting as the hotel is fairly old and has few amenities. We spent $157 for one night. There were (clean) diapers behind the nightstand, the coffee pot was half full and some sort of mystery green stain on the toilet paper so I'm not convinced that there's attention to cleanliness. I would be pleased as punch to pay no more than $75. read more

My little brother's best friend got married a couple weeks ago. Most of the hotels in Fredericksburg have a two night minimum stay, including the hotel and cottages where the wedding was being held. Living so close, I only wanted to spend one night and didn't want to invade my brother and sister in law's child free weekend. Enter, the Sunset Inn and Suites (thanks to booking.com). I wasn't expecting a whole lot for the price, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The owners were VERY friendly and accommodating. The room had a mini fridge and a microwave (more than what I can say for where my brother was staying!) and it is SUPER conveniently located to the downtown area and the wedding venue. I also got a decent night of sleep (cut short by the fact that I had to get back to Austin early-ish to watch the first Packers game of the season). Also, free WiFi! The parking situation for check in is a little confusing, there's not a "drive through" section and I couldn't really figure out to turn into the left driveway or the right one, as there was a pretty significant incline betwixt the two. But, not a big deal, really. Yup, I'd definitely stay here again. read more

First off- you get what you pay for. I got this room off of Expedia....was is marble counter tops and five star breakfast? No. But I didn't want to pay for that Service- 5 stars- person up front was very nice and answered all my questions. Room- decent sized and the bed was super comfortable. They did have a 20+ inch flat screen but we did not use it. Water pressure was ample and the water was hot. The air worked fine and it was good experience. Deg worth the $60 we paid. We actually got a much better value than what we paid for. You should be out drinking wine and eating, not worrying about your room. Would stay here again. Also have free wifi. read more

Good clean solid place to stay. My son and I needed a place to stay on really short notice. I called and asked, and Donna (the Manager) was very friendly and helpful, taking my reservation over the phone without requiring a credit card - just my name and cell number. We arrived 3 hours later, and she greeted me by name as I walked into the office (apparently we were the last ones to check in and they were full up). VERY friendly and helpful, with lots of good advice on places to visit and eat. Room was nice and clean, more Than I expected for a bargain weekday rate. The ONLY downside I can think of is that parking is limited. At worst, you'll have to park at the far end and walk a whole 200 feet to your room (which is Gods way of telling you that you need exercise, hahaha). If that's a complaint, then you need to get out more often. Would absolutely stay here again! read more

I hate leaving bad reviews and I'm pretty easy to please, but this property was well below expectations. It didn't bother me that this place is older (not quaint) and in desperate need of updates. A clean room is really all we needed and this place failed miserably. There was hair all over the sheets, a thick layer of dust on the lamps, mildew in the bathroom, and bugs all over. I told the owner about my experience and his response was, "It won't happen again." Well... I definitely won't be staying at Sunset Inn & Suites again. read more

We stayed at this hotel for a girls' weekend the Saturday before Christmas. Every other hotel in the area was either sold out or very overpriced for the holiday season. Upon arrival, I was checked in in less than 5 minutes by a very kind and sweet woman and advised where to best place was to eat the next morning and gave the WiFI password without me having to even ask. After walking into the room, I noticed the HANDWRITTEN card on the bed side table thanking us for choosing Sunset Inn. It was very wholesome, kind, and welcoming. The hotel isn't going to be the most updated but it is immaculately clean and quiet. Checking out was a breeze the next morning and we felt at home the entire stay. We will stay here again when we come back during the summer because this place has a hold of our business! read more

When we got in the room the first thing I noticed was the bathroom light was out. We called the office and a guy came and replaced it within five minutes! There was also a dead baby roach sitting in the tub, but I didn't think to much about that... Turns out I should have. Our room is infested with roaches. So far I have had 2 crawl on me and have killed 5 that were just running around the room. That not even counting the countless dead ones already sitting in the corners. There was also an old chicken nugget sitting by one of the beds which is really weird considering that no one in our room had had chicken nuggets. The fact that the room was so dirty made me feel very uncomfortable, especially with all of this COVID-19 stuff going on. I personally will not be staying here again and I highly recommend that you don't either unless you enjoy sleeping with roaches crawling on you! read more

Tried to book a room here, no one was at the front desk for 30 minutes or more. Rang the door bell, called the number, and no one answered after we had booked. My wife called to cancel our booking due to no one answering and having two fussy kiddos. which ended in a woman on staff named Joycelynn calling my wife manipulative and yelled at the both of us saying she refused to give a refund even though they were not present during office hours. This was the absolutely BEST little motel for the price! My fiance and I have stayed in nice B&Bs in Fredericksburg before, but they can be pretty costly. But for the Wine & Food Festival this year we were just doing a quick weekend trip and didn't want to blow a ton on a room. This motel was perfect. It is very clean and well-kept and the management was very friendly. The A/C worked great, our queen bed was very comfortable, the pillows were soft and fluffy, and the bathroom was clean...older and dated, but clean. I didn't care about the decor, that wasn't important at all, it was a nice little motel to stay in and we had a great time. This will be our go-to Fredericksburg motel for any time we don't want to spring for a B&B. The Sunset Grill restaurant next door has a fabulous breakfast/brunch too! read more

The room is small, but it has all the basics for a good night's sleep - I've had worse beds, showers, Wi-Fi and coffee for more than twice the price. No frills, no continental breakfast, but no complaints either. Enjoyed our stay so much we extended 2 extra days. Management is super friendly and service oriented. In a city where there are so many places to choose from don't overlook this gem. The rooms were all updated a year ago and the management has chosen very nice furniture. Warm, welcoming comforters, and outdoor amenities. F'burg is a tourist trap to say the least. Sunset Inn & Suites is no exception. We came here for the wine country and fell victim to a supposedly good rate. Unit very poorly maintained. Drippy faucet. AC barely works. TV is old. Phone is missing most of the buttons. Mold in the freezer. The FREEZER!!! Too many other deficiencies to mention. If it's posh accommodations you seek or you're just down right particular, look elsewhere. read more

This was an excellent an inexpensive hotel to stay in for one night owned by a nice couple that run it. The room includes a fridge and a microwave. The blankets, pillows, and beds are quite comfortable and clean. Also, the location is ideal for visiting downtown. My only complaint is that there was a dirty tissue crumpled on the bathroom floor and a towel still hanging up, which we presumed to be dirty. This is the second time I've stayed at this establishment. I've enjoyed both stays and would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. The rooms are decorated nicely and they are very comfortable. It's right next door The Sunset Grill, which is phenomenal. It's also less than a mile from downtown and close to a nice HEB and a good Mexican restaurant. Very goo place to stay with kids or just for a getaway with your significant other. read more

This is just my first night to stay here and I still have till Monday to go, but I couldn't help jumping on 'Yelp' and writing my review now! What an adorable, quaint, clean and 'comfy' place to stay. This is a family owned establishment and I mean that in the best way possible. They truly went above and beyond for me and even broke a rule for me (I just won't say which one...lol)! I love the outdoor set-up as well. Of course no one wants smoking in the rooms anymore these days, but they put cute little benches outside of each of the rooms and have a very welcoming patio area with great seating just outside the office so that any smokers (or just those that want to come out and socialize) have a comfortable place to hang-out. The pricing is comparable to the quality and amenities as well. These guys are great! I would recommend this place to family and friends and I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The owner's run the motel and they treat you like family; leaving a note on your pillow thanking you for your business, leaving light on and also the tv. The beds are comfortable and the ac cold. Also, the grill next door has a great breakfast with many variations including gluten free and vegetarian. Its really not far from anything. Love this place! This was our second stay and we'll be staying again. We were there for a HS soccer tournament and couldn't pass up the chance for a return visit. Yes, this is an older hotel but it's very clean and well maintained. If you enjoy the service and attention of a Mom & Pop place you'll love it. A personalized welcome card on the pillow, spotless grounds and owners who are happy to see you seem to be the norm here. New paint, linens and carpet, what else could you ask for? The Sunset Grill next door has an awesome breakfast but is only open until 3pm so plan dinner elsewhere. The whole area is quiet and safe yet close to everything so don't pass them up!
