Everything is really nice! I walked in and was blown away by the transition from (dang near) historical Corky & Lenny's deli diner to this pretty, minimalist restaurant! Wowza is all I can say. The colors are calming, the seating is all semi private and with a wonderful surprise and peculiarity, though you are nestled together in "elegant diner-style booths", yet you cannot hear any other tables' conversation. Very nice. Service is swift and helpful. We had young Leo and he most attentive, regardless of our very slow ordering was... it is a lot to take in... they have a full menu with a la carte, an All You Can Eat menu, a hot pot menu and a drink menu. So many options that your 1st visit could be overwhelming. Everything we ordered was fresh tasting, spot on and presented nicely! I started w/app Shrimp tempura, fresh salad (horrible dressing... they called it sesame, nope. It was yum yum sauce), 2 Salmon & 1 Negiri, the Infinity roll, the Philadelphia roll and ate every bite. Heck, the thought of paying a serious penalty for not eating what you ordered by paying extra is a means to your mission. Eat STRATEGICALLY. I do wish there was a better fish-to-rice ratio, but it's understandable given the value. There are few things I wish they could make improvements on. My sister ordered hotpot with sichuan spicy broth base and that did not meet her expectation. It was too oily, which made it less enjoyable. It was like half oil and half broth. Decided to try the newest Kintaro location for lunch and it did not disappoint. It is absolutely stunning how they remodeled the old Corky & Lenny's it still has the character of the old restaurant but with a new flair. I visited for lunch where I ate a plethora of delicious sushi and had steak hibachi which was phenomenal. Fun dining spot, good for large groups. Love the option to do sushi + Hot Pot + KBBQ if you desire. There is something here for everyone. With the new Kintaro open in Woodmere it seemed like a good time to check it out; located in the space that used to be Corky and Lenny's Kintaro has brought a completely different vibe. The decor is very modern and even a bit futuristic, lots of bright colors, neons and plenty of sparkle. All of the tables are set up with a grill in the middle and individual heaters for the hot pots at each seat. Booth seating seems a bit too far from the table and the leg room is limited by the bottom of the table. This Kintaro offers a choice of AYCE sushi, hot pot or Korean BBQ; I was going to try the BBQ until I noticed that at lunch the protein choices are very limited; for me there were just 3 seafood options. Instead I got the sushi, Kintaro has a paper menu where you make your choices, apps, sushi, and kitchen entrees. I started with miso soup and the calamari, both of which are solid choices. The soup is warm with good flavor, the calamari is breaded and fried with a sweet dipping sauce. Sushi at Kintaro has always been good, I tend to get a nice assortment of Nigiri and a couple of the simpler maki; I do avoid anything with cream cheese or which is deep fried. The nigiri sushi was good, the fish fresh and vibrant, the rice pellets were well sized to not overpower the fish. The maki sushi is well prepared, nicely balanced and attractively served. One thing that I have found at Kintaro is they often miss an item or two from the order sheet, fortunately you can always place an additional order to get what you want. Other than the missed items service was good. I enjoy Kintaro and each location has a slightly different vibe and even some different menus. The Woodmere location is certainly good looking, the sushi was up to snuff we will have to see how they do with the AYCE BBQ; they should take a look at what other Cleveland restaurants are offering to be competitive. If you are looking for some good Japanese/Korean food at reasonable prices Kintaro is well worth checking out. read more

My sister and I stopped by for lunch and really enjoyed ourselves. I only give it 4 stars because I feel like the paper ordering is not very efficient. I feel as though they would benefit more from something like a tablet. Other than that, I loved the place. My sister and I got all you can eat KBBQ and Sushi. Very good price for all the food that was offered. Next time, we will probably just do the all you can eat sushi. I feel like that was the star of the show. Very tasty and many items on that menu. Our server was really nice and seemed caring to her customers. The restaurant has very nice and comfy decor as well. It is bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Perfect for a large family and the tables are not crowded next to each other. I plan to come back soon for lunch as I seem to be craving their sushi ever since I left. This was my first time trying this type of cuisine. The atmosphere is gorgeous. Everyone's so friendly. The staff explained how it works and was patient. My server was awesome. So attentive and courteous. The food was amazing. Great flavors and cooked to perfection. I tried their chicken hibachi, sushi rolls and crab ragoons. I wish my stomach could hold more it was so tasty. Their prices are very reasonable. I recently visited this restaurant for the first time and decided to try their all-you-can-eat option for $29.99 per person. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The food itself was just okay, nothing particularly memorable or worth the price. The service was even worse our waitress seemed annoyed from the start and didn't take the time to explain anything, which was especially frustrating for us as first time customers. She only came to our table twice the entire meal. For a family of four, the bill came out to $112, and it felt like a complete waste because my kids didn't even eat the all you can eat meals. The restaurant was so cold we needed our coats. The food was just horrible. The salad was watery with huge chucks of lettuce. A single 1/2 slice of tomato. My husband and daughter ordered steak medium rare. It was very overcooked. They asked for their steaks to be remade. The server brought it out within about 4 minutes. It was also so tough and the taste was horrible. My husband left his meal. The shrimp was tough and overcooked. When I got home I immediately vomited my food. It's all you can eat sushi, hotpot or Korean BBQ. I've been to their original location. Happy to see they have been expanding to multiple locations across the northeast Ohio. This location also offers all you can eat Korean BBQ which is pretty new to me. The quality of meats was what you would expect at all you can eat places. It was pretty average. We like the variety they offer. Also, they let you share if the entire table is doing all you can eat. If the table wants to share Korean BBQ with other all you can eat options, you have to pay $5 extra. We definitely will come back again. read more

The food at Kintaro KBBQ in Beachwood was alright -- nothing special, but decent enough. The real issue was the service, which was honestly terrible. Several items we ordered never came out, even after reminding the servers multiple times. When we brought it up again, they actually told us we never ordered them, which was frustrating and unprofessional. We had to ask repeatedly just to get basic things that should've been handled the first time. For the price and the type of restaurant it is, I expected much better service. Vegans and vegetarians beware!!! I am visiting Cleveland and wanted to bring my family to experience hot pot for the first time. As the resident vegan, I called ahead before coming in for dinner to ask about veg broth options and was told tomato, miso, or hot water. I was super excited to have a few options, but unfortunately this was not quite accurate. I ordered the tomato broth, while my non-vegan fellow diners ordered the chicken broth. Everything came out quickly, was very fresh, and the server was helpful. At one point, our soup had cooked down a bit, so the server topped us off with more broth. We noticed that she refilled us with the same pot, despite ordering different broths so we inquired and were told that all of the broths used the chicken as a base. I told her about my phone call, and she explained that the options shared on the phone can be made with hot water instead of chicken, but that must be specified to a server, however, I was told they were veg friendly as is. Not the same thing, and really not ok!!! I should have been told "All of our broths use chicken as a base, but these ones can be made with hot water upon request. Talk to your server!" We called over a manager, who was apologetic (and maybe who I spoke to earlier?), and were given $4.50 off and a gift certificate that they would not allow us to use same day (not very helpful for an out of towner). They brought me a new soup and it was good, but really unfortunate that this went down when I tried to be prepared and took the extra step of calling ahead. There are posters on the wall and red font on the menu reminding you that you will be charged for over ordering. So , the atmosphere is ruined right away. Have been to the other Kintaro many, many times and this one once before. Sushi is good quality (not top tier but good), but good for an all you can eat place so VERY good value for the money . Service was also very good. I would have given it a higher ranking, but: 1) we tried the sashimi fort he first time and it was lower quality fish/left over pieces compared to the sushi which is usually pretty consistent. 2) The plates were dirty. When we asked for replacements the waitress was very polite but we got dirty plates again,then again. Took 3 times to get clean plates without soy sauce or left over wasabi on them from prior diners. Yuuck! 3). They charge $1 or so more at this location (no big dealbut regardlessof price I would drive a bitmore to go to the other locaiton until they fix a few things To improve: get another dish washer or pay more attention before sending plates to the table and do not use the remnant pieces of fish for the sashimi. Comment: kind of fun that the yellow tags are still on the televisions that have been mounted on the wall - look for them if you visit. read more

My friends and I went to this specific Kintaro because of how nice it looked online! I would definitely recommend. It was clean, service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves overall. We did the all you can eat sushi and Korean bbq. The food was great. Our waitress was very attentive and explained how everything worked and we appreciated her checking in often. This is our second time at Kintaro after previously going to a location on the west side. Food was pretty good. Location was new and had good lighting and decoration. Service was strange, ordering options weren't explained at all. Some (just a couple) of the items we ordered didn't come. For some reason the menus are paper but they reuse them, so by the time it goes to the kitchen once and then placed back on the table it becomes a bit wet and gross. We asked for coca-cola and were told 'we don't serve that at this location yet', then the next waiter proceeded to offer and bring us cokes. After a few issues with diner-server interface are worked out, this place will be great. read more

I can understand when things get busy, however. I have never had bad service until I came to Kintaro with a relative for a celebration of work. And again, I can understand if things get busy. Although, Renee, our waiter, was not doing so well at her job (example: other waiters were taking our orders, (bless the blond guy) and then we never received our menus back for the All-you-can-eat after ordering). I have been to a few to know that we were supposed to receive our menus, and I just hope for the future that 'said Waiter' understands to make sure all tables are well instead of walking pass the table waiting with a quick 'Is everything okay?' So, if said waiter was not happy with the tip, we tip based off of good customer service. Not poor customer service, I do not believe in rewarding bad service.
