It's about time I updated this review. But it's been a bit since I have been here. We struck out on Friday night on 2 places we wanted to go so this was a sub in. We were in the middle of Solon so we decided on Imperial Wok. Busy Friday night but we beat the majority of the crowd and sat right away. Ordered a combo plate moo goo gai pan, fried rice, egg roll, wonton soup, coconut ice cream. Server was very prompt and fast. Food comes out hot and fast. Tastes good. Really there are no complaints. Everything was good. I enjoyed my meal. Took some home to enjoy another day. Prices are average. I do have to say the portions are a bit smaller than they used to be. But I almost expect that now. Parking is always packed. But you typically find a spot. Overall, no real complaints. read more

Mother's Day at Imperial Wok was a success. We had a larger party of six and we got a large circular table for us. We had a reservation for right when they opened up. We were seated right away. The hostess gals were pleasant in greeting us and seated us. A high and open ceiling, plenty of color and lighting. A very nicely kept restaurant. We asked our waitress if there were any gluten free options and she said, "Yes, some naturally, some things can be modified. My Mom had the naturally gluten free Pad Thai. A classic that she always gets and enjoyed it with the chicken and shrimp. I had GF Chicken Fried Rice. The portion was plentiful. I had a couple leftover portions in the following days. I enjoyed just as much as the initial serving. Sweet and sour chicken was crispy and plentiful. My dad and brother aren't much for describing food. My brother's girlfriend and her mom loved their food. They enjoyed the whole experience of having bother moms there for mother's day. I have driven past Imperial Wok plenty of times. Been to plenty of the surrounding restaurants and businesses. Glad I was able to get in with family and friends and have a full meal. I could see myself coming back and having some Chinese cuisine when I'm not driving out to somewhere else at five dollars a gallon for gas. Great overall experience! read more

I've only tried takeout from here but I have tried it now 3x and it is...dismal. If I had to rate it from the first time I've had it, it would've been zero stars but the subsequent orders were not quite as bad. My date got takeout from here--the most standard order possible: sesame chicken, lo mein and appetizer of potstickers. The lo mein was offensive. They used skinny rice noodles and used all oil but no seasoning. The noodles were bland and HARD; like, just no. How do you mess up lo mein??!! The chicken was also bland and drowning in some radioactive orange concoction that was all corn starch. The "potstickers" were undercooked and burnt at the same time. Like, what? The tips were hard but the body of the dumpling was like chewing on uncooked dough. Lordy lord, it was like made by people who had only heard about Chinese takeout. I had some dishes again at a party and another time ordered in at a smaller get together. Okay, quality was slightly better and comparable to Panda Express (current, not how it was before). Presentation looks like it would be better but then you bite into everything and it's just not that good. Solon, we can do better! Can we get a better and more authentic Chinese place? Average hometown Chinese food that lost it's fastball years ago. Been awhile but my wife and decided to pop in. Standout is the beef sticks, egg rolls, hot and sour soup. Sushi, fried shrimp weren't that great. Too much breading and sauce. Ambiance is lacking. Service was solid and fast. read more

WHERES THE FLAVOR!? Me and my friend ordered Egg Foo Young! I ordered 2 different types, Chicken and Shrimp. She ordered Ham. First off, the gravy seemed extremely light colored and we thought ... Ohh thats different, hopefully it tastes good. NO it was very bland. The patties were seasonless to the 10th power! Fried rice look like brown rice that was scoop up and put in container no meat no bean sprouts no vegetables nothing and fried rice just plain rice .General Tso chicken ,sesame chicken, orange chicken look like chicken tenders cut up with sauce just poured on it. To be totally honest, I was so disappointed with this dish, that I can't even recall it's name. My husband tried a bite as well and agreed that it wasn't good and also didn't like his dish. This dish had several different types of meat within it and none stood out. I didn't like the sauce and boxed most of it. I also thought the environment wasn't very visually appealing and lacked warmth. Our server was friendly but not super attentive throughout the dinner. I know my parents love it here, so it's possible that my husband and I had an off experience, however, we won't be back. read more

I was surprised at the quality of the food at this restaurant. It's the best and hardest Wonton Soup I've ever eaten. We had Szechuan Chicken and Chicken Cashew, which were large, serving, and tasty. Between us, we could have just ordered one! The staff was pleasant, and the restaurant was unique and clean. All in all, we enjoyed our brunch, and I certainly will be ordering take-out or sit-down there again. Their service is also speedy, so if you are on a lunch break and crushed for time, don't hesitate. We have such a beautiful variety of restaurants here in NE Ohio. I don't know what's going on but our last 2 takeout orders were horrible. My sesame beef was hard, crusty strips of beef ( wasn't strips in the past) that were so overcooked it was like eating jerky. The sauce was bland and sparse. Waste of money. Couldn't even eat it & actually threw it out. In our previous order I got sesame chicken and it was the same. Overcooked, impossible to chew and bland. The fried rice and low mien was good but the chicken flavor for the General Tso's and Orange chicken was bland. The chicken tasted like chicken tenders with sauce. Good, honest Chinese-American food and sushi. We've been fans of Imperial Wok for many years, from when they were in their original location in the plaza behind their new(ish) location. Never much of a wait, even at peak hours. management does a good job of running this operation and it shows. The food is always hot and fresh and everything is prepared well. Especially tasty are the sushi offerings although the sushi chef is not there all day. I believe between the hours of two and four sushi is unavailable but you should double check. My only complaint is that the last couple of times I've ordered spring rolls they were a bit undercooked and a little soggy. Still, this is a go-to location for us. My wife typically gets moo-goo gaipan and she loves it. I'm big on the Kyoto roll and spicybrainbow roll sushi. Try them out! read more

I'm a regular here, and lately they've been slipping. Last night's dinner was an example of it. Food took a long time to even order and even longer to show up, I got a bowl of soup for an appetizer and it was good. My bowl sat empty for ten minutes before I finally asked the sushi chef if he could remove it. Another 20 minutes later we watched our server do shots with another server and patron. I knew our meals just had to be ready, but hadn't arrived. I asked my server to check on them, and lo and behold they came to us luke warm. A real bummer. I won't go back anytime soon. read more

Friendly service by Fannie. Spot on and attentive. We started with the PuPu Platter for two. It was more than enough for all three of us. The ribs were tangy and tasty. Food is hit or miss. An entree is good on one visit . Another visit, the same entree is poor. Slow service.

Several years ago the woman that owned the restaurant for many years sold it to an American claiming to keep the same chefs and menu. Since then each time we have eaten there it has been going down hill. The wontons soup is still usually delicious, sometimes the wontons are too soft or mushy. The flavor in the dishes are bland such as chicken chowmein and pepper steak. The egg rolls used to be the best on the planet but now are no better than any other mediocre Chinese restaurant. What made me post a review today after all these years is tonight the portion of pepper steak was very small with mostly onions and a few pieces of steak. The chicken chowmein was all bean sprouts with a few pieces of chicken. We used to be able to have leftovers but not any longer. I understand the cost of food is is increased but this is making me seek out another favorite Chinese restaurant. They have a great business so probably some of the negative reviews don't really have an impact which is unfortunate. read more

The only reason this is getting a two-star review is because our UberEats driver delivered to the correct address and within the most timely process possible but with an incomplete order. The order was in a cleanly stapled bag from the restaurant; so clearly nothing wrong from the Uber driver's end. The food order was shy of two orders of pork fried rice as the side to our two dinner meals and one full size order of BBQ Pork Fried rice. Instead, we received the meats from two of the orders, which were bland at best, and a large container of vegetable fried rice that contained very few bits of veggies and tasted only of butter. My son played baseball all day yesterday and when we finished he asked to get take out. I called at 5:15pm, placed an order and they said it would be ready at 6:40pm. Wow, super busy I guess, but OK. When I arrived at 6:40, they couldn't find my order. When they eventually sorted out they took order under the wrong name, they said it wasn't ready yet. At 7:15pm, I asked them to check again. The girl behind the counter just shrugged and said "I can't make them cook it any faster". WHAT?! Another lady heard this and saw my facial reaction and said she'd check right away. She went back and what do you know, it was ready. Look, I get that places are strapped for help. I get that it was a busy Sunday night. I get that this place is the only Chinese food in Solon. But why be so rude and thoughtless to the customers who support you? I watched two other people get upset and leave because their food also took so long. We have come to Imperial since my daughter was little. She's 23 now and we still love this place. It's changed over the years and looks completely different but the food is still as good as it's ever been. My absolute favorite is the wonton soup. I wish they'd just pack me up a vat of it to bring home. The rest of the food is good but I've always been in love with the soup. No other place has been quite as good. read more
