So I rolled into McDonough trying to avoid a traffic jam on my way from Macon to Birmingham, Alabama. Going down Main Street. I guess I saw this place that said world's best hamburger champion. I was craving a burger so I stopped. Wow! I was not disappointed. I had the regular burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato and it was yummy. It's a cute diner decorated in 50s decor and my waitress was very very pleasant. My burger was very tasty and my sweet potato tots were yummy as well. They come with marshmallow fluff, which I didn't try but sounds like it might be yummy if you like marshmallow fluff. Anyway, great temperature on the food served promptly and great service. I highly recommend the next time you're in McDonough to stop at Kirby G's. read more

Kirby G did not disappoint. So I tried it once for take out and I had to go inside and sit. It was just that good. My waffle bun double burger knocked it out of the park!! It's a $20 burger with fries. Is that normal? We've tried the award winning burger 5 years ago and again yesterday. Consistency yes. Both burgers were very similarly disappointing. There must have been some magic in that 2018 World Championship burger. But the magic seems to have faded into the past. Today it's an undersized soggy bun, skimped on the cheese and the pulled bacon was cold and tough. I really hate to see this regression. I chalk it up to shrinkflation and our macro economy. Sign of the times. I recently saw an article encouraging a cross-state trek to this Cheeseburger as a destination. Unless you have a Time Machine that could take you back to 2018, make your own burgers at home and save $20 and $4 a gal fuel. read more

This was a surprise find in McDonough after picking fruit at Southern Belle Farms & a pleasant one at that. With old fashioned music & pop culture themed decor spanning 50s-80s, they definitely met the "diner" feel. I got the Smash Detective burger - pretty basic like I like it, with cheese, sautéed onions & special sauce on the side. Decent onion rings too. Wife got the Mary Jane's bacon jam with fries & was very happy with it. Grandson got a kid's meal burger & also enjoyed. Hannah took good care of us, giving a couple suggestions as well. It's off a downtown square so parking can be a little challenging but it's worth circling a few times to find a spot. read more

Stop what you're doing!! This places is legend!! I swear the ambiance and atmosphere from when cresting the threshold sets you in a 50s 60s diner themed diner. The service is impeccable and the food was so good. I've visited the diner multiple times and I always enjoyed it to the point that I couldn't wait to return!! The owner which you couldn't tell makes it a point to make sure your dining experience meets expectations of a Michelin star restaurant. I can go on and on but don't just take my word, give them a try and I bet you will understand exactly why it took me so long to make this post!! read more

Saw this place on Facebook and thought I would try it. DISAPPOINTING! The burger was so burnt to a crisp almost. All I could taste was the burnt meat. It was so burnt and caked on that I was able to pull some of the burnt off. I was trying to give the burger a chance and hope that it at least tasted okay. I was wrong. It was a to go order and I didn't go back mainly because distance but if you are okay serving someone a burger that was coated black on one side then I really wasn't expecting much when I return it. The fries were fried so hard there was nothing on the inside of them, it was fried up. They have signs stating the won a Burger Award in 2018 but that was 2018 because in 2025, they are not winning a thing. Very Disappointing. I had high hopes. read more

My first review was five stars when I went here about three years ago when I first moved to Georgia.The next time I went, I ordered a burger. I asked for no cheese on the burgers and when I receive them, they had cheese on them. They took the burgers to the back and just scraped the cheese off, but it was still cheese on it and gave it back to me. So I have not been back since and the food from what I'm reading on current reviews has went down and the prices went up so I'm not interested in paying more for food when you can go to Chili's and get a decent burger with an app and drink for $10. read more

After finally ordering it took a long time to get our food. The food was pretty good. We had a variety of items. When ordering dessert, we were shown an ice cream list. Order a flavor, then waiter comes back saying they're out of it....3 times. Finally my companion said "Then what DO you have?" Had I known the prices went from $9 to $17 a burger , I would have went to Chick-fil-A instead where it's tried and true and spent a fork ton less. Quality was blah. 1 app + 2 burgers + 1 small salad + 1 beer + 2 sodas + 1 small milkshake rang us $88.00 I stared at my receipt for a good bit trying to do the math and make sense of this. We left disappointed and upset on the money dump. It was nice when it was nice years ago. Do not go here and expect a quality meal and service, NOW. My husband came in and ordered food this evening for the 2 of us. He ordered a bacon cheeseburger and he asked if fries came with the burger and was told yes but when he paid, he was charged $4.50 for 16 fries. He ordered nachos for me. On the online menu it said the nachos came with cheese, bacon, peppers and sour cream. Whe I got home and opened them, there was a mound of burnt chips drizzled in a little cheese and mystery meat. My wife and I stopped into Kirby G's Restaurant for lunch. I had the Jerry Lee Steak Sandwich with Fries and my wife had a cup of Chili and fries. The food was perfectly cooked, seasoned properly and the temperature was spot on. Service was good. We will eat there again. Would have liked the presentation to be on a larger aluminum tray to allow for the food presentation to be enhanced. This is my personal opinion only. read more

EXCELLENT FOOD! When you think of a "diner" you think of cheap greasy burgers but this is not a typical diner. It's a little on the pricey side but their costs at least match the quality of food you are getting. Their burgers are amazing, my daughter LOVED the pearled waffle, and I crave their fried green beans! I can't say enough good things about the food here. Our first visit, the waiter was so helpful with helping us decide what to order, learn a little about the place and what sides paired well with certain entrees. I have been here several times and tried a few of their burgers and never been dissatisfied. My kids really like the food here as well which is a plus. The burgers are done how you want them done. They do not over press them so they remain juicy when they come out. They have some wonderful options and some great themes for the burgers as well. Of course their award winning burgers are great but their normal ones are great as well. The burgers a the right blend of over loaded to be just messy enough with out being impossible to eat. They are very flexible with modifications to the burgers if you do not like a specific topping on one the themed burgers. On top of the burgers they have some great sides and tasty milkshakes. The service speed is slower than some while faster than others so over all acceptable. The wait staff is friendly but the diner could take up the theme a bit better by having the staff dress in some sort of themed uniform or something to go with the diner theme. The location is fantastic and the inside has some great thematic decorations; however, the counter and floor and front seems just a bit run down, not too bad, but KirbyG's could take this aspect up a notch. Long gone are those days but, Kirby G's will never let us forget where and when the American classic diner burger came from. Interior: The restuarant is theamed with pictures of classic stars of the 1950's era plastered from wall to wall. Each booth is marked by a 50's era colloquial identification ex; Chuck Berry Ln, Teeny Bopper St, ect. There are props of rotary dial pay phones and vintage advertising signs posted on the wall by the bar. The restuarant is divided into 3 sections. 1 section is upon entry more family oriented dining with a non-alcoholic bar paralleled from booth seating. Just past the back wall is the second space that's more adult targeted with a full alcohol bar and multiple beers on tap also paralleled across from booth seating. The third space seems to be reserved for a more lively crowd in search of live performances bands to accompany the dining experience. All in all this is a cool place with alot of eye catchers. The establishment is clean and accomdating. Customer Service: The service was phenomenal. The waitress were nice and helpful in every way. The food was delivered without delay, the water was refilled and, periodically they followed up to ensure all service needs were met. Quality: I orders the JOANIE'S SPICY PIMENTO CHEESE BURGER Topped with bacon & Spicy Pimento Cheese Dip. Though not quite spicy as I expected the burger came out hot and fresh as one could hope and expect. I ordered the 1/3 lb patty cooked medium. Pleased to say it came out perfect; not too pink, no blood. The burger was juicy and tender served between to descendantly butter toasted buns. I requested that my fries be fried hard for that extra crunchy crisp and as requested they came out awesome. All in all Kirby G's is a small town American heartland local. We used to bring our family here all the time for burgers and milkshakes, which were always good. However, the last time we went, a large group came in wearing guns on their hips and sat down at a nearby table--and they were not law enforcement. We were extremely uncomfortable and told our server we didn't feel safe having our children there with so many firearms in plain view. Burgers wrong temperature, burgers not served as described in menu, slow/no drink refills, no napkins, dirty table. This use to be our favorite spot on the square, no more. The food here was amazing! Id have given this place 5 stars but the Coca-Cola I got was flat and after j then ordered a Sprite, that was flat, too! The food, though will make me come back in a heartbeat. I ordered the chicken melt on texas toast and the chicken was so succulent and tender that I was totally surprised because most chicken breasts are kind of dry. The hot dog was great as well and the fries were seasoned perfectly! My boyfriend got the 1lb burger and ate the entire thing but I tasted it and that was delicious also. I used to eat at KirbyG's occasionally but hadn't in quite a while. Now I remember why. I remembered the service has always been slow, but My wife and I were not in a big hurry. So, we thought we would give it a try again. The service is still slow. When we arrived, there was only one other couple in the entire place. It didn't take too long to place our order but once we did, it took an additional 30 minutes to get two burgers and fries. Unfortunately, the service is only half the issue. The burgers were very small. We ordered 1/3-pound burgers and either they were not 1/3-pound burgers or they are using awfully fatty beef that shriveled them to very small patties. My wife's burger was supposed to have cheese. It came with a paper-thin piece of cheese, barely larger than a silver dollar, stuck to the bun. I wasn't even sure it was cheese until she sent it back and they put a razor-thin (but full) slice of cheese on the patty. My burger was supposed to have a runny egg on it, but either they are using yokeless eggs or it wasn't runny. Neither burger tasted very good at all. To add salt to the wound, the fries were cold when we got them. Overall, I will not be returning and felt it was bad enough to warrant my first negative review in a very long time. read more

Ok little spot. A good lil drive from Douglasville though. The restaurant has a retro vibe to it. The highlight of course is the food. The kids ordered wings and fries and I will say the wings are huge!!!. Hubby had the bacon pimento burger and I had the donut burger. Now from the picture you'll see that I ordered a bun on the side but surprisingly enough I didn't need it. The donut burger was actually good. The sweetness of the donuts paired really well with the saltiness of the meat. The fries were good as well. They were hand cut and loaded with cheese, ranch dressing and Texas Pete seasoning. Our waitress was so attentive. Now they do automatically charge gratuity for a large party. All in all we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return again one-day. read more

Went here for a work function. Walking in, I wasn't to excited about the choice but was completely won over by the killer burger! The waitress was great, decent selection of local brews on tap. The owner came out several times to talk to us about the different options and follow up to see how we liked it. I went with a 2/3 Breakfast Burger without a bun. Many places cannot pull off a bunless burger because it has to be really, really good. I can tell you these guys nailed it! Spicy Aoli was spot on, burger was cooked medium rare as requested, egg was runny as requested and the bacon was perfect to top it all off! We started off with cheese fries and fried pickles that got us rolling. The hand spun shakes were very good. We ordered chicken fingers, chili and burgers with the chips that were very good. To top off the experience we went all in and got ice cream cones. (2) Banana Pudding (1) cookie dough and (1) rainbow sherbet. We would all recommend stopping in for a great dinning experience. My husband and I stopped into this place on our way back home to Florida. The decor is a 50's diner which certainly has its place and was rather cute. We asked our waitress what craft beers they have and she responded with "I don't know anything about beer. I'm not the one to ask." Well dear, you might want to write it down since your menu indicates that I need to ask my server about the beer list. We ended up walking to the bar and choosing from there. Furthermore, it turns out they offer local beer and never bothered to mention it to us. Thankfully the food was good. I wouldn't call it "the best burger" but it was cooked correctly and the flavor profile was good. We both had the ol' blue eyes burger cooked medium.
