    Western omelet with grits.
    Shasta G.

Quite an experience in extremes. Starting with the best, service was friendly, facility is a little stark but clean and in good repair. The western omelet and grits were tasty and plentiful. The homemade sausage was flavorful and huge portion. Things started to go downhill from there. The biscuits were too moist, almost gooey, not flaky at all, doughy. The home fries looked deep fried but not crispy at all and unseasoned. The deal breaker and bad enough to scar the whole meal was the "gravy". No seasoning, library paste. Inedible.

Good breakfast with large proportions. This was ham and two hot cakes. Also entree with two eggs, grits and toast. The coffee is very nice too. Definite come back here for another breakfast delight.

The food is delicious however, there might be a wait. They have an excellent pot roast and fried chicken to die for!

Just an FYI. Maritza and Frank have moved just a few miles up the road to College Park and have closed this location.

We used to have family in the area, but unfortunately haven't been down here in 5 years as a result of them not being in the area anymore. When we used to stop in, the service was unbeatable. Everyone would treat you like family, and would get you your food fast. Now, since the restaurant is under ***new ownership***, we are not sure if that is still the case. Our server was great (she remembered our family even after 5 years (connected the dots to us)), but the rest of the employees and the community within the restaurant felt a bit stuffy. They used to have the best coffee. It is still good now, but something changed (not quite as good). Their pancakes are unfortunately rubbery, but contrastively, they have great bacon; crisp with a bit of fat, that's how we like it. Their hash browns have not changed one bit. They are still crispy!! Some stuff has changed in the atmosphere of the restaurant. They generally have the same theme, but some of the signs have changed. If you get lucky, you may get to eat your food with Shaquille O'Neal in the restaurant! He lives in the area, and comes in every now and then to get some food and pay for everybody's meal. What a great guy!

Not my first time here, but it is my first review for them! This is really good pizza! (Is there…read morebad pizza?) very traditional, thin, Neopolitan style crust. Not huge, but two or three people could enjoy. (6 slices cut) I wanted to try something different so we got two and boxed the rest. Shelby greeted and seated us, and although she lacked a little knowledge on the beer menu, she made up for that with a trip to the bar to investigate our questions on sour beer, and came back with two excellent samples! We settled on a Dr. Robot and the Charcut-a-pie. I loved the toppings and balsamic drizzle. Goat cheese and arugula just go together. A little honey and I was in heaven! The crust on this one was a little well done, which disappointed but, the overall flavor was on point. Next, we sampled the Spicy Italian. I'm usually pretty good with spicy things, and while this was no exception, it did have both of us in a small sweat! If you are averse to spicy, stick with something else. This crust was also cooked and not over done. I'm not sure what McDonoughs' obsession is with vaults, but it seems to be a recurring theme around the square. You'll find vaults or at least doors that look like vaults all over. The rest of the decor inside and outside was well done. Exposed brick gives it immediate rustic charm, while black floors, raw wood art, and leather stools wrap the package nicely. I definitely like their lighting! Oversized bulbs hung around the pizza oven bar (which you can sit at if there's space) and giant hoop rings finish the rest of the space. It isn't that glaring light that spotlights your table, it's just a nice warm ambient light that makes you wanna pour a vintage red into a wine glass over and over. Oh! I almost forgot, they do have an outdoor patio up front, so on those less humid days and nights, I'll definitely be hanging out there!

The restaurant wasn't very crowded. Our waitress was great. Very high energy. She offered great recommendations. Everything was perfect. We ordered Cheesy Bread as an appetizer and we split a Philly Fry Pie pizza! The drinks were also good -especially for the price. This is definitely a place we will come back to in the future.
