It's a great place if you're a biker chick or guy and you love inhaling second hand smoke. I was there recently to see one of my favorite blues bands "Motor City Josh and the BIG 3! Great band, exciting and very entertaining. I could only stay for one set or I was going to lose a lung. The smoke is sooo thick up in there...damn! I thought no smoking was allowed in bars anymore. Second hand smoke makes me sluggish so I wasn't able to dance as much as I would have had it not been so smoky. There's a nice patio, but of course nobody was out there smoking. The place is huge, much larger than when it was known as "Blue Sky" 10+ years ago. It's a nice room; lots of things going on, great sound, serves food, pool, etc. I wasn't able to stay long enough to try the food. I'd go back, but only for a minute. Ok, so it was my first visit to Motorheads and I really didn't know what to expect. The first thing that caught me off guard was that it was in a small strip mall next to a furniture store and a grocery store. I digress but I'm getting to my point. I walked in expecting to see just another biker dive bar, given the name. Don't get wrong, I love dive bars but this wasn't one of my usual "drink at own risk" kind of bars. It was bigger than I'd expected with plenty of sitting areas away from the main bar anchored in the center of it all. I can see coming here with a family in the daytime but probably not after the sun goes down. I took a seat where I feel most comfortable, at the bar. The bar staff was nice and friendly but the liquor options are mostly mid-range and definitely not top shelf (hint: Bombay Sapphire). The crowd was friendly and chatty on the night I was there and the band "Griffin Rhythm" was amazing. My friend and I had only planned to stay for an hour but we got comfy and didn't end up leaving until after 1am. Oh, oh! If you are a poker player, there's some serious Texas Hold'em in the 2000 sq. ft. room off the main bar area. This place is the business! Motorheads is open 7 days a week and stays open late. Remember the old saying, "don't judge a book by the cover" ...well, I'll have to go a couple of more times to but for now, I'm giving Motorheads my Matthew Mcconaughey stamp...alright, alright, alright! read more

Went to Motorheads a few weeks back to being my learning experience with Texas Holdem poker. Very friendly staff and great people. I have and will continue inviting friends and others to this place. The owner is great and doesn't give an attitude like he is better than others. My personal thanks go out to Steve and his customers for giving me a place I feel welcome and as a small part of their big world. As for the food, what can I say ? First, the positives: bar is big, they book great bands, the food is good and reasonably priced, the place is clean, the band sound is pretty good, vibe is inclusive and safe (not really a biker bar or a true dive bar--I'd have no problem going there alone). Now, the negatives: service is hit or miss. There is a female bartender there that is a real piece of work. Don't know how she keeps her job as she will completely ignore anyone who is not a regular of her liking and we have experienced this EVERY time we go there so she is always this way. Most of the floor waitstaff is pretty good but, again, hit or miss. They take care of the regulars first. Smoking inside makes the place almost unbearable by 11:30. Ventilation is non existent. Nasty. There is a very nice covered patio with tables and chairs out front that the smokers could easily go to if they made it smoke free. Stage and music area is tiny tiny tiny. You must walk past the stage to get to the restrooms. Embarrassing and awkward. Cover charges can be absurdly high for the basic concert setup that you get. They take table reservations on concert nights (nice) but they rarely answer the phone when you call and we have had our reservation "lost" twice. This is important as we drive an hour to get there since we live out of town. We will continue to go there as it is the closest place south of Atlanta where we can hear some of our favorite Atlanta area bands. But I wish they would address some of the issues that make it less enjoyable. read more
