The place has a very cozy atmosphere with both tables and takeout, but the takeout side doesn't take away from the table service at all. I had the Shrimp Francese with lemon and white wine sauce--six very large, juicy shrimp over angel hair pasta. My wife ordered the Eggplant Rollatini. I usually make sure we order different things because she rarely finishes hers, which means I get to try it... or enjoy it the next day. Our Irish waitress was very nice and attentive. My husband and I and a dear older friend of my mom's made a reservation for 6;30 Pm. She lives nearby in the assisted living at the Kendall. She highly recommended this restaurant. We had travelled all the way from Tuckahoe, New York, We were kindly seated and was warmly greeted by a nice waitress named Irene. I had a nice shrimp dish with a side of broccoli. My husband had a delicious Chicken Scarpariello dish. Our dear friend had a delicious house salad and pasta with clams. The portions were ample and delicious. The ambience was terrific. and cozy. Ah Donatos. Simply amazing food. Its a small "pizzeria" tucked away on Pleasantville Rd in the Village. The staff are amazing! The owner is hands on and the food is GREAT! I've eaten there maybe 100 times over the years and NEVER had a meal that "wasn't right", I look forward to every meal there. We go there probably 5 times a month for dinner. Ordered 1 plain slice and one Detroit pepperoni slice for my wife. For the slice, I liked the whole crust side more than the slice. Pizza dough was good. Wife's Detroit was very crispy crunchy on the bottom. Very tasty. Cheese did not harden quickly. I would come back for the crust of the pizza but not the slice. 7.0/10.0 slice. My girlfriend had told me that "this is the best Italian food ever" and I have to agree. Hubby and I ate an early dinner on a Saturday night and loved our meal. We also liked the ambience. They appropriately dimmed the lights after we sat down (nice touch). As it was so early (blush) it was very quiet. He started with an excellent Pasta e Fagioli and me with probably the best Cesar Salad I've ever had (subtle but delicious). Two oven fresh bread rolls arrived before the appetizer. He then had the Chicken Scarpariello with a side of excellent potato croquettes and I had the Gamelli Fiore (rope shaped pasta with broccoli rabe, sun dried tomato and chicken). Both were superb. Mine was so large I ended up taking half home. Hubby then followed up with the New York cheesecake and a decaf American coffee. I ordered an extra hot decaf cappuccino that arrived exactly as ordered (only prettier - see photo). Fortunately the dessert arrived with 2 forks so I can report on how good the cheesecake was! Service was wonderful, not overly fussy while still attending to our every need - the perfect balance. Drinks were frequently replenished. We loved our waitress. Really loving the food here. Phil does a really great job of making family style dishes such as the Gnocchi Al' Amatriciana and Pollo Piemontese. The Risotto Sardenia was pretty good as well. All of these dishes were flavorful and memorable that will have you coming back for more. Be sure to ask Phil for his wine recommendations with each of the dishes. You won't be getting the cheap tasting wine, but you will get a good wine at a reasonable price. If it's great casual Italian food you want, then this is your place. Had dinner with a friend here. Had never been so wasn't sure what to expect. I was craving pasta and it did not disappoint. I had fettuccini Alfredo and my friend had penne ala vodka. Tiramisu was fresh and very good. This is a small dining area but it's quaint. It feels like it's a step up from a pizzeria although we could see the delivery guy leaving every so often with peoples pizza. Seems like it's a neighborhood favorite. Great place. We mostly order pizzas with gluten free crusts and they do it better than anyone. Salads are great too, this is really good quality, not your average pizza place but a real restaurant. Worst customer service from the owner. Ordered a pie and was told 1 hour wait, which is not a problem. I was in the area after 30 mins and walked in to get a status update so I could plan my remaining errands properly but owner was very rude and nasty to me.
