It is chicken you can get from any other chicken place. It is freshly made, but that is the only positive I have for the chicken. We tried the strips which were dry and the wings. 2/5 We tried the soy garlic and red hot spicy sauces. The soy garlic was an okay processed sauce. The red hot smelled and tasted like it is ketchup based, so for me, gross! It was supposed to be really spicy and it was not. 1/5 The curly fries were hot, fresh, and seasoned well. 4/5 The mandu was store bought gyoza and it did not come with a dipping sauce as mandu usually does. 2/5 The lunch special was a good price but otherwise this is definitely overpriced. My favorite spot in town for Korean fried chicken! Kiri Kiri never disappoints. The chicken is always made to order, so I usually order ahead on Toast to save time. I always get half garlic soy and half sweet & spicy--both perfectly crispy, flavorful, and super fresh. I was craving crispy fried chicken, so I was happy to see this relatively new place and stopped in a quick lunch. There was no line to order. The food took about 15 min to prepare. I got the sweet and sour chicken tenders. They were pretty good - I felt like they could have a little more sauce and needed more flavor, but nonetheless they were crispy and I enjoyed them. The portions were huge. For around $12 I got around 8 large tenders - a great value. Overall, I'll be back the next time I'm in McAllen. The portions are huge. We were two people and we shared all of this and had fries left over. The food was really good. Tenders were sauced really well and they were spicy which I liked. The curly fries were fried perfectly and the dumpling were dumplings. I think they all taste the same. I would have liked a dumpling sauce to dip them in because I'm not a huge fan of soy sauce. I went yesterday to eat in person and it tasted great; 10/10 would recommend, but what happened when I was there was unbelievable. The cook came out to the front and started yelling using horrible profanity towards the cashiers working. It was incredibly unprofessional, disgusting, and made me uncomfortable. even Then my food had taken close to an hour to get, and you can just hear a lady presumably the same cook laughing loudly using the same profanity. Hopefully the manager does something about that person soon, until then I would not recommend going. read more

I've wanted to try this place for more than a year and finally got around to trying it. Not knowing what to try I settled on chicken strips. Ah yes, but what flavor??? The young cashier named their top two choices so I chose the Soy Garlic. Sides are mostly fries or chicken vegetable dumplings - think deep fried potstickers. Four to an order. I also added a drink. The dumplings arrived. Piping hot. But no sauce at all. I grabbed a couple soy sauce packets from the limited number of condiments available. They were tasty but nothing I haven't had before. But... no sauce and only four. A little strange. My chicken strips arrived quickly. It was a pretty full basket. Maybe seven or eight. Very similar in size and coating to Cane's chicken fingers. All breast meat, cooked well, juicy but again, hardly any sauce on them. Strange. I did note that a lot of the sauce had collected in the bottom of the basket so I began dipping them in that so they were somewhat better. I ate five or six plus the dumplings and I was full. Here's the thing though. The strips, dumplings and drink were $21!!! That's a lot considering I can get a six piece meal with fries, coleslaw, garlic toast and a drink at Cane's for about $12!!! So Kiri Kiri is pretty much overpriced in my opinion. It's a good drive so that plus the high price means I won't be back. Too many other more reasonable priced restaurants in The Valley. read more

The service is great, they'll gladly give a recommendation as well as customer favorites if you ask! They were so sweet & attentive; best service by far! Can't believe it finally happened, but Korean Fried Chicken has reached the Valley! Kokio has been blowing up on social media and I've seen so many people complementing their Korean Fried Chicken. My GF and I placed a phone order for a half chicken sweet and spicy, soy garlic tenders, and a corn salad. If you're not a fan of coleslaw, then be sure to avoid the corn salad because the corn salad was just coleslaw with pieces of corn mixed in. Luckily, the chicken was amazing! The skin was crispy and there was a good amount of sauce infused inside the meat. If you're looking for a good amount of heat in your chicken, then choose sweet and spicy because it provides a good kick of spice. Our half chicken did get a bit soggy when we got back home due to the large portion of sauce drizzled on the chicken. If possible, definitely try to dine in. We also really enjoyed the tenders which usually come with 7-8 pieces. The soy garlic wasn't as sauce heavy compared to the sweet and spicy, but it still had a nice crispy skin and juicy chicken meat. Overall, if you haven't tried out Korean Fried chicken before then be sure to stop by Kokio because their chicken is truly authentic. Early Visitors Beware The food was great. I definitely recommend their sweet and spicy wings over the tenders. The corn salad is great as well. My biggest concern was their ordering system. It takes a long time and needs a lot of work. This may be staff related, but here is my story. Ordering System: I arrived at 11:40AM and was the 6th group in line. They took the order of the first 3 groups at about 12:00, but they had to continue to wait outside. About 15-20 minutes passed, and those groups were asked to go inside and pay. After another 15-20 minutesm they took the order of the next 2 groups, and they had to wait outside another 15-20 minutes before asked to come inside. Finally, they took the next 3 orders (mine included), but we had to wait outside until they called us. I did not enter the restaurant to pay until about 1:30. To their defense, people were ordering in bulk to-go, but there were plenty of empty tables, while people were made to wait outside in the heat. At some point, they sold out and turned people away who had been waiting in the heat. I'm 100% sure this restaurant will do well in the long run. I just wasn't impressed overall. The curly fries were pretty good. The sauce was alright, but I didn't care for the breading and how it was fried. The chicken tenders tasted dry to me. If I decide to try again, I'll try the wings. The staff was nice and the food very hot when it got to me.
