I had an awful experience with Lakemont Eye Care this year. Every year, my daughter and I have eye check-ups at Lakemont Eye Care, and this year, doctor Stephanie Ho suggested ordering sunglasses for my daughter, reassuring me that they would be totally covered by insurance. We were happy that we could order professional sunglasses and started to make an order and choose lenses and frames for sunglasses. The salesperson assured me that I did not need to pay any co-pay, and it would be totally covered by my insurance (I would not order kid's sunglasses if I needed to pay even 10 dollars out of my pocket). I picked up sunglasses in 2 weeks, and my daughter realized that her lenses were a little strange and she was uncomfortable with them. It looked like the lenses were with a prescription, so I was really surprised and emailed the doctor with the question, "Why do lenses have a prescription since my daughter has 20/20 vision." Doctor Ho assured me that "Yes, it looks like Margarita's sunglasses are prescription. If you want to purchase glasses with your insurance, they do require that any glasses billed have a prescription in them. Her prescription is relatively mild -0.25, so it should give her a bit better vision, but should not affect her regular vision". No one told me that the sunglasses would be with a small prescription; even my daughter does not have any problems with vision. Also, no one told me that I needed to pay a $10 copay (patient material) neither when we ordered nor even when I pecked up the order! They just called me in the couple weeks after I picked up the order and said, "We forgot to charge you co-pay!" Seriously? I feel like they deceived me! It looks like they wanted to earn money from my insurance because I would not order sunglasses with a prescription and additional payment out of pocket! The salesperson does not adequately explain all your custom options etc. Very disappointed with the customer service, and I will never return to Lakemont Eye Care! read more

I don't take the time to write reviews, but this place deserves it. I came here on a hot day riding bikes with my kids. They stayed outside while I went in for a quick consultation. We were joking around about how it would be so nice to have popsicles today. And as I went in for my exam, the front staff told me they would look after the kids outside. And then they went across the street to buy popsicles for them!!!! Amazing. These guys are great. But even beyond that, the optometrist was exceptional. Very thorough and did not rush me at all. I have gone to Lakemont Eye Care two or three times for eye appointments and contact fittings. However, I will not be returning due to the unprofessional nature of the staff. My doctor was both knowledgeable and friendly, and I thought she provided wonderful customer assistance. However, while the rest of the staff are friendly, they are also extremely unprofessional. Last time, I heard the staff talking about another patient behind his back, commenting on his profession and his income. This seemed like a huge violation of the patient's privacy. During an earlier visit, one of the staff members complained to me about her job, which seemed improper and unprofessional. Often no one is at the front desk to check patients in or out, and the staff tends to talk in the back room amongst themselves. Although the staff appears friendly, the whole atmosphere is highly unprofessional. The service Lakemont Eye Care provides is good, and in general, they make sure patients get seen quickly. The location of Lakemont Eye Care is also fairly convenient. However, last time one of the staff members tightened one of the screws on my glasses, but she stripped the screw so badly that I had to have it replaced at another glasses store. This makes me wonder about the competency of the staff. In short, Lakemont Eye Care may be convenient for a quick trip to the eye doctor, but the staff makes it difficult for me to want to return. read more

Best experience in eye care I've had to date. I've never left a review for an eye place, but feel the need to do so for Lakemont to tell you you need to go here. The people are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They made the eye exam and purchasing of new glasses easy and enjoyable. Dr. Sharon Cheriyan changed my prescription just slightly and it has made a world of a difference. For over 5 years not one of the doctors I've seen have been attentive enough to catch this. When I came out of the exam, someone had already picked over a dozen frames in the style I had been looking at. She picked so many great frames that I had a hard time choosing. I ultimately picked one I would not have grabbed myself, and I love it! During the wait period there weren't any updates, complete radio silence. They delivered on their promises. I received a professional eye examination for not only contacts (what we had agreed upon) but also glasses. The staff promptly checked me in upon arrival and had all my paperwork pre-completed. I briefly waited while they were finishing up with another patient. The optometrist and aides then swiftly but meticulously walked me through the process, and I even received good news that my right eye slightly improved upon receiving my final prescription. Sometimes a business doesn't get it right the first time but their true character and values show when there is an issue. I went there with my mom and they kicked me out because I was wearing a shield instead of a mask. They said that masks are only acceptable and shields don't count even though we showed them on the sheild that it said "isolation protection mask". We left and will not be returning. read more

It's been a long 4 years since I last had an eye exam. The last office I got my eyes checked at closed shop and my prescription was long gone. Lakemont was able to get me and my husband in on a Saturday with back to back appointments. There are two things I hate at the eye doctor: 1. Checking ocular pressures 2. dilating+numbing drops. The two times I have been to the eye doctor I hated it. They have to dilate your eyes so it looks like you have those huge anime looking pupils and then you get more eye drops to numb the eyeball so they can shove a huge blunt object on your cornea to check pressure. To hell with that. When you get an eye exam here they use mild eye drops which don't leave you looking all doe eyed and instead of that evil bastard eye pokey thing- they use puffs of air. I think my eyes returned to a mostly normal state after three or four hours. Not bad for someone who has super sensitive eyes. I also got offered some water or a diet soda if I desired while I waited. The eye exam went by quickly and they didn't waste and time getting the husband in right after I was done. Good selection of frames, but as with most small eye clinics...there is a turnaround on getting a new set of glasses. I almost forgot to mention, the doctor gave me some eye drops to use for my morning eye blurriness. They work great. read more

I've been looking for an eye place ever since I got insurance, and this place just happened to be down the street and just happened to be in my network of providers! The whole staff is very inviting and were very accomodating. They got me right in, no wait at all. It was my first visit so I got all the stuff like pictures of my eyes (very bright flash) and of course my exam. When it was time to pick out glasses, Steven (I cant remember if it was Steve or Steven...oops) Was sooo friendly and helpful! He was very honest about which frames looked good and which ones didn't look very good. They were having a special on frames so I got a regular pair and a pair of Sunglasses. They also found the best way to save me on the out of pocket expenses. I wish I could see the optomotrist more than once a year... read more

Doctors are fine but I didn't like the check-out staff. She was rude. I went with my son for checkup and had our masks on. My son was just adjusting his mask and she came right when he was adjusting and started to lecture us on keeping masks on. We were also told to get out if for any reason we need to take our masks. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against masks but the delivery was outright rude. Also, it made us uncomfortable that the time my son took to adjust was just 5 seconds or so and he was not completely without mask. We were worried that she was stalking us. This is too creepy for any of us in family. We planned to order glasses here which we did last time for the whole family (we spent more than $1000 out of our pocket after insurance for just my younger son's three pairs and we bought for all family members separately) We come every year for checkup and order new glasses. This time we decided not to order glasses here. As a person of color, I try to look these situations from an angle of racism. From other comments in google reviews, I can safely assume I don't think her rudeness was due to any racists attitude. It is probably more to do with poor customer service training. With staff like these you don't need to wait for COVID to close your business. She can wind up this business entity just with talking to customers :) read more

My son is rather shy and tends to be scared of going to doctors. Dr. Erika Tydor and her staff were simply wonderful with him. They were gentle and caring to the point where my son felt comfortable to ask questions (which he normally does not do) and they patiently answered all his questions. They seemed very knowledgeable.
