I booked a permanent eyeliner service at Kiss & Makeup. All scheduling and payment are done through the studio's app, which made communication difficult -- the makeup artist refers calls and questions to the app. The app canceled my first appointment, failed to collect a deposit, failed to cancel an appointment, and later created a new appointment without my approval, leading to a "no-show" charge. The eyeliner faded within a few weeks, and I didn't get a response after canceling the touchup and sharing feedback. Positives: Groupon price was honored, the studio is easy to reach, and parking is convenient. In summary, the results didn't last as expected, and the app made the process frustrating. Better communication and support would improve the experience. read more

Been seeing Monica for over 10 years already. Get powder brows and lower liner. Very gentle, kind and knows what she is doing. I definitely feel like she cares and always ask questions and to see how I feel. I always get compliments from friends about my brows. I've been going to Monica for years! The first time was about 5 years ago for eyeliner. Couple years later I went in for eyebrows which was one of the best decisions I've ever made and I absolutely love my brows. Of course because I wear makeup and wash my face and spend time out in the sun it does fade a little just like any other tattoo so maintenance is necessary but differs for each person. Today Monica touched up my eyebrows by microblading (it's been about 3 years)and I'm even more obsessed! Monica is super friendly and professional. She is very reasonable and if there are any issues she definitely goes out of her way to make it right. Also for those worried about pain, a nice little tip/trick Monica taught me was to put lidocaine on before heading in to your appointment with her. She will add more when you get there making sure you're numb and ready to go (for lips and brows only! Yep, I'm a guy leaving a review about makeup... sort of. I'm writing this for my wife who saw Monica to have her eyebrows filled/tattooed. I guess I look at them more than she does so maybe I am qualified. I was really against permanent makeup because I see it all the time and it doesn't look good... Monica is very good and I can't recommend her enough! This review is long overdue. I've had my permanent eyeliner by Monica for about 5 weeks now. Her studio is nice, inviting and private and is easy to access even from Portland. Monica was a sweetheart and took the time to hear what I wanted and she delivered exactly the results I was looking for. I wanted something natural because I usually don't wear much makeup. But as I get older, my eyes really needed a lift and pop of color! The process took about an hour to do top and bottom lids. It is not painless, but you forget it in a few hours. I had relatively little swelling and I wouldn't even say that I need a touch up. She recommends that you are patient and wait for the results in about a week. Everyday I liked the outcome more and more - so be patient! When I returned back to work after the summer, most people commented on how rested I looked! If you can handle a bit of discomfort, for a short duration, then go for it! I don't regret it at all! read more

Monica was upfront that the eyeliner ink might not take. After it scabbed up, it fell right off, ink and all on half my eyelid. Monica was nice and she did a touch up a couple weeks later and it still didn't take in the same spots. She offered for me to come in again but I declined because that was a lot to subject myself to. After a few months, the parts of my eyeliner that did take, faded into a blueish black like an old tattoo. My sister had her eyes done in another state and it's lasted 4 years. I guess it's just the type of ink used. So long story short, I'm still using store bought eyeliner to cover up the parts where the ink didn't last. read more

I love Monica! She is a very sweet lady who does an amazing job. I don't wear makeup at work but wanted a little definition to my eye lashes which meant I needed a small line on my eyes. I asked for natural looking brows as I am the furthest away from glam- there is. When I asked to see the magnification mirror as the procedure was being completed, Monica told me, "I should slap that out of your hand, I don't let people do that. You should just look at the mirror on the wall." I really did not want to write this review, but I feel it's needed. I started this permanent make up journey with Monica on a Groupon and That was my first mistake. At each step of the way for eyebrows and eyeliner, I felt like I had to be very clear about what I wanted and I was told she was in agreement. Any time I questioned her about the results, I heard a lot of rationalization & justification. I kept thinking to myself she is a professional so, this is got to go right eventually. I was wrong. I wanted very much to like her and trust her work. I wish I had never gotten my Joan Crawford eyebrows. My left eyebrow has a mark below where the eyebrow ends, And she told me all that will fade don't worry about it. In retrospect I should've paid attention to my gut and finished the first service and had someone else try to correct it. I went back several times and each time I felt it was so difficult to get validation for my perspective; what would happen instead is that I felt like I was bossed into submission, each time trying to put my faith into her words. I am not writing this review to be mean. I'm actually very sad about the whole process. I did not feel she listens very well, and was very defensive toward me about her work, while trying to appear cordial and nice. Next time I will pay attention to my instincts. read more

Monica is the best!! I was very ill many years ago and lost my eyebrows and they never grew back after my illness. After years of drawing them on I decided to get them done permanently, but had a not-so-good first experience and spent another couple of years drawing over my permanent eyebrows to cover them up. I had seen Monica years back for laser hair removal and had heard that she was doing permanent cosmetics and was amazing at it, so I figured I'd give it another shot. She was able to fix the botched eyebrow tattooing I had done previously and my eyebrows now look beautiful!!! I loved them so much, I came back and had her do my permanent eyeliner and I love it just as much!! It takes me only minutes to get ready in the morning now, I just throw on some BB cream and blush and I'm out the door thanks to my permanent makeup! My experience with Monica was excellent! I'd been thinking about getting permanent makeup for my eyebrows for probably 6-7 years since losing nearly all of mine because of a medication, and I'd always been afraid to allow someone to do something permanent on my face that I'd have to live with whether it was well done or not. Monica was very reassuring, took things slowly with me in terms of making the decisions involved in shaping, color, etc., and really put me at ease with the process. She also takes the more conservative route in terms of starting smaller and lighter, with the premise that we can always darken or go broader.
