Two years ago we noticed the roof in the kitchen (below the master bath) was deterioting. The home was original 1972, so obviously had a shower pan leak. We contacted Kitchen and Shower Expo and had them do the work, which entailed replacing the shower pan, some carpentry work, and retiling the bottom section of the walk in shower ($8k). Less than 2 years later, the grout around the drain for about a foot and a half is COMPLETELY gone, it sags a bit, a cut tile by the drain is broke, and now I see a brown spot developing on the ceiling directly below it, indicating a leak. I am a firm believer that crap happens... It just needs to be fixed. We contacted them, and while yes I understand it is out of the 1 year window, they refuse to fix their issue without almost $1000 payment. Fine... The contract says 1 year, they can do that, even though I feel it is a poor business practice not to see that this as something beyond the contract. As she said, "We have never seen damage that bad in such a short period of time." She says it's lack of maintenance, the 3 other companies that have see it in person say otherwise. Being that, I just want to make sure future customers see what COULD happen to them, and weigh the risks. Now, Star will probably come on here and say we didn't maintain it... The original shower had been here for 51 years, and other that your typical wear and tear, the grout was good condition. She's also going to point out a piece of tile that broke off in the corner of the shower, and insinuate it fell off the side trim because of lack of upkeep. That piece of tile was one of the pieces that broke off around the drain, NOT the side trim. I have inspected the wall trim... No piece is missing. They did a fine job along the wall. No complaints there. So, long story short, 51 years, grout was still good. Kitchen and Bath Expo replace it, and less than 2 years the shower itself is worse than it was before. Is this a one off situation? Maybe. It's up to you if you want to risk it. read more

First of all let me say that JULIA at the front desk was a top notch and a total book of knowledge when it came to remodeling a kitchen.... She definitely knew her stuff!!!!! Even when the process got frustrating for us and we became agitated, she stayed very cool, calm and very very professional until we were satisfied.......We really enjoyed working with her during the entire process.....Now for the downside of working with them..... The guys they sent out to do the work weren't so great.... The first day they left cigarettes and other debris in the yard along with the old sink that they took out ( right beside the porch). The installing of the cabinets wasn't too bad of a process but what came next was. They lost pieces to our old garbage disposal, the lost electrical out let's that were supposed to be out back, AND left a phone jack just hanging by the wire on the wall.... If I'm paying 20,000 + for this service I think I should get my money's worth by all means ‍‍ When asked about these things they said that the could come out and do it for a RIDICULOUS charge..... The next part of the process was the appliances.. The guy who came was very very unprofessional... First of all we were having a over the stove microwave out in and needed an outlet for it... He came and said he was just putting in the outlet and wasn't installing the microwave which was in our package....He stayed on the phone the ENTIRE time he was there...‍‍‍ The last part was the plumbing....... The guy who came out was very professional and did what he had to do... He was the one who noticed that the pieces were missing from the disposal......He had to go to he depot and replace it....... When putting the dishwasher back he said the guys who did the cabinet install didn't leave a pathway for the hoses , and said he had to cut holes in our new cabinets ‍‍‍ Of course we refused and it took h and extra hr or two to find an alternative direction... Finally everything got in place.... So we thought. The dishwasher wasn't bolted down and slid out every time you opened it......Also the water line wasn't ran right so when the dishwasher came on it didn't get any water..... FINALLY someone ce out yet again and fixed the problem and we finally have our kitchen..... This process was definitely nail biting and a giant headache...... It's nice and glad we got thru it but I wouldn't wish this on anyone or recommend anyone who's paying the money that we paid.. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. Poor customer service, poor customer interaction. The order of a couple simple pieces for two bathrooms took over 6 months to complete. When delivered, They didnt have one piece done yet, two of the pieces were terribly botched. They had scratches all over the place. Then they tried to repair them and left chemicals on them too long and stained one of the good pieces so badly it had to be replaced. Finally, they broke a sink out in the truck before they could even bring it in. The senior manager came to the house to check it out. She was visibly disappointed with my experience and said they would make an adjustment for all the missteps and all the trouble we had. They delivered all new pieces several days later. But as you would guess, the billing clerk called me right away and asked for the final payment and that there would be no adjustment to the bill. I asked her to please check with the owner/Senior manager first. She called back 10 minutes later and said there would be no credit or adjustment. We had great experiences with them 2 years ago - but watch out. Something has changed. read more

We just finished having our Guest bathroom remodeled and what a great job they did. We used Panda when we remodeled our kitchen about 8 years ago and we knew the quality of work Panda does. We are extremely happy with their product. Our installer was very professional and his demeanor was outstanding, even when we had "hiccups" that often occur during a remodel. My experience with this company is still ongoing and down an irreparably negative trajectory. Though my services were completed in October 2016, I had hoped they would make things right, but refuse to do so and also now have threatened to destroy our credit. This company is a joke, all head up by the owner, Star Chen. My grievances are two major ones: First, that both the owner and employees failed to ever step foot on my property to asses progress, needs, possible issues, and categorically REFUSED via email and text message when I implored them to do so several times. Refused. Instead, they blamed me for tasks not getting completed by contractors (because I was supposed to know what they were doing and tell them????) and when the contractors failed to wait for an inspector to show up, going forward with work before the electrical was permitted. At the project completion, basically when they were sick of me asking them to come back and complete things right, they finally showed up at my door to do a walk through. Since we were having so many issues during the construction, they brought along someone who was introduced to me just by his name. I thought it was the real owner of the company. Unfortunately, I later found out he was their lawyer. They brought their lawyer, without informing me of who he was or his intent, to my home. I wondered if they were then going to make things right and finish the job, but no, they just complained that they had been working on my project too long (6 weeks). While there is nothing missing from the job, some of the finishing touches were half done. We also have a cracked tile they refuse to replace, though it was cracked during installation Had they had someone on site to oversee the work, they would have caught it before they decided that I wasn't worth their time. In short, the refusal to take ownership of the contractors' work, refusal to "do it right the first time", and blaming of me, the customer, for issues had gotten me so disgusted with this company that I couldn't even write a review until some time had passed and I calmed down. Well, that happened until we realized that it's the beginning of the year and we never received a statement from them asking for payment or showing how much we paid. So the second grievance is that now they are trying to put us into debt collection. Yes, 6 months later, after we agreed on an 18 month no interest plan, paid over $10K upfront (more than 50%) and never received a bill after our first payment. So, we called them up--"hey, we haven't received a statement since our first payment. What's up?" Only to be told we were behind 2 payments (what??) and they were charging us late fees. They insisted they sent us a statement via email (not mail), and they did not. They lied and the keep backing their lies up with insisting they did. The proof is in the email archive - you did not send me a statement at any time after our first payment of the first 2 months. Again, we've only been in payment for 4 months now. And what shows up in the mail? A notice to send the debt to collection. Unfortunately for us, there is no legal recourse for treating a customer so poorly, but there is a place for me to let others know our story. The balls of this owner to treat her customers, they people paying her income and livelihood, like this blows me away and I write this review to prevent anyone who would like to work with a respectable place from utilizing Kitchen & Bath Expo. They have no regard for their customers, their work, or their business practices. Save yourself a couple of headaches, a trip to a lawyer, and money (overpriced cabinets, attempted to charge me 3 times the amount for electrical work that I got another contractor to do for a third of the price), possible problems with the city permitting office, and last but not least, being treated like a deadbeat and never buy from them. read more

We used Kitchen and Bath expo to renovate our 30 year old condo with new porcelain tile wood plank flooring, ledger stone fireplace surround and granite base, kitchen backsplash, complete bathroom renovation including new tile shower, and master bathroom update with new double vanity, mirror, tile and lighting. The project was completed in just four weeks on time and on budget. We loved the product selections that Star chose as well as the expert installation from her contractors which made a major renovation an easy process for us. Pricing was reasonable for the amount of work completed with no surprises. Ongoing communication throughout the process from Star made it an easy renovation. I chose this company because I was assured they would take my master bath renovation and manage it efficiently. This has NOT been the case!! Do NOT use this company. They started a week late knowing we had tenants moving in the beginning of the following month. We realized the glass for the shower may not be ready, but were told everything else would. They sent ONE person as our "contractor " to do the work and he rarely put in 4 hours of work a day. 8 weeks later the bathroom isn't finished. One of the light fixtures arrived with broken glass and is still hanging up (4weeks now) without replaced glass. They measured the glass for the shower incorrectly and now the tenants who have been without a master bath for 4 weeks have to wait even longer. The bathroom was left in disarray with the glass that doesn't fit and trash in the brand new tub. It's been a simply ridiculous process. Communication consists of promises for action that doesn't happen, us finding out about problems that WE have to bring to the owner's attention, and constant reminders of things not completed. On top of all of this, they're expensive. Please do yourself a favor and heed our advice--looks elsewhere for someone to remodel your bathroom!! read more

I have had Panda kitchen and bath install kitchen and bathroom cabinets in four of our homes. I am extremely pleased with the quality and finish of our cabinets. They have held up beautifully. They were very professional and helpful in suggesting several ways the cabinet and appliance layout looked and worked best. We did not have them do the plumbing and electrical work because my husband did it, so I cannot rate that. The installers, in our case, did not speak English very well, but they knew what they were doing and if I had a question or concern, I just called Star and it was immediately addressed. Remodeling a kitchen is a daunting challenge. After five months of research, I came across widely varying costs, many levels of expertise and a lack of confidence in getting the job done correctly at a fair price. I finally visited Panda Kitchen and Bath in Virginia Beach. I dealt with Star Chen who had an excellent answer for every question and presented additional information that I had not thought about such as the placing of a two-part crown molding to deal with dry wall ceilings that are not always completely flat. She had software to map out the details of the kitchen (as did Home Depot) but I received the full attention of someone who has a good reputation at stake (I checked out the reviews online) and was always available when I stopped by or called on her place of business. I felt that the person at Home Depot was doing a good job but there were issues such as making appointments to see your "person" and working according to their schedule and a lack of flexibility in details and options. Star presented me with many options and was the only person who freely gave me a cabinet sample to use for matching to the various granite slabs that we were considering. That was instrumental in not making a big mistake in the final granite that was picked out for the kitchen. The cabinets appear to have an intricate 'dovetail' construction and features such as auto closing mechanisms of the drawers and cabinet doors. Panda also carries their own granite but I visited the various stone yards and picked out a slab at Marva Marble and Granite. The Granite was delivered to Panda's factory where it was fabricated and installed by Panda. This was all done at a fair price and was done on time in the schedule that was provided by Star. The business is well run and they keep their prices in check by controlling the supply chain. They own the factory that makes the cabinets and have connections or ownership with the other parts of the supply chain. This translates into a fair price for the consumer. To give you an example, I had one gentleman present a high price tag for the cabinets. The reason was simple; he was buying the cabinets from a retail store in Portsmouth who was buying the cabinets from a factory in.... This is simply too many people getting a cut of the action. The kitchen was finished about a month ago including under cabinet LED lighting etc. We had our final checklist completed and 'so far so good' with an excellent warranty policy. I don't anticipate any issues but I will update this review if there is anything to report. read more

We did have a few minor setbacks, but the company made sure that everything was done right and to our satisfaction. AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!! I would like to echo several of the reviews from below. It is obvious that there is no communication between the workers and designers. And when there is communication between them, it isn't reflective of the customer's input...it seems that the company handles it's customers without regard to customer input. I haven't found a good answer to trying to communicate with the company in person, by phone, or by email. I have decided to not try anymore. I can NOT recommend this company and will provide specific details when I get the chance to anyone that will listen. I have also paid in full, it was an expensive mistake that I hope others will avoid learning themselves. When/If any of the work fails, I will not contact them to try to fix it...I'll have to hire another company to fix it since I have zero faith that good follow-up work will be or can be performed. read more
