Sensational store! I love browsing any baking/kitchen supply store and this was fantastic. It smelled absolutely incredible while I was walking around and found so many fun bits and bobs o can't wait to come back for. The prices are incredible - I needed some cupcake boxes and was shocked that my entire order at Kitchen Creations was a 3rd of the price of Michael's. I seriously love this place!!! I've been decorating cakes for about 11 yrs now and always went to Margie's in Trenton for my supplies. I recently moved out this way late Spring, and wasn't really looking forward to commuting 45-50 minutes to get my supplies at Margie's. I looked online and found Kitchen Creations. Kitchen Creations is the Margie's of Farmington Hills! They're closed Sunday and Mondays, but it doesn't really pose a problem to me since most of my orders aren't due until Friday-Sunday anyways. Plus, since I know they're business hours I can plan accordingly. It really makes life that much easier. They have everything I need - boxes, boards, foil, icing color, sweetex, cookie cutters, candy molds...they have it all. The only thing they don't carry are the scalloped edge gold round cake boards that I would normally buy at Margie's. It saved on having to buy foil to cover a board when doing a birthday cake, but it's just a minor inconvenience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Huge selection for whatever your craft is! Do beware on the parking lot though. There's a dance studio next door that tends to fill up parking spots. Plus people tend to drive a little fast thru the adjoining parking lot & Firestone - just be a defensive driver when it's busy! read more

I can only find certain candy decorating items that i need here, however walking in the walls are still patched from more than 15 years ago, fresh coat of paint and clean carpet without holes would make it look so much more appealing and clean. One of my 2012 New Years Resolutions was to learn to make royal icing sugar cookies so I went in and asked the ladies for assistance. They couldn't have been nicer. Helped me with some starter supplies and made some good suggestions - like not trying to do the martini glass for my first try because of the thin stem and it would be hard to do. family owned Cooking supply store. good prices & selection. Service is best received by one of the owner's daughters (Blair or Shanell), fyi. They are hard to see from the street, but they are back there. They have everything from cake decorating items to cake pans to cookie cutters to designs to baking utensils to you name it. If they don't have it, they'll order it. they also have food items like specialty chocolate, fondit, and all kinds of other stuff that I don't even really know what it is or was. Sometimes you can twist one of the owner's daughters to bake you something delicious (like specialty cakes). That's worth a mint alone right there, let me tell you. :) If you are into baking, you should check them out, definately. 5 stars. read more

This was by far, one of the most bizarre experiences. I walked into a shop that looked like it was undergoing renovations, but that's just how the store is. The inventory looked like it was at least twenty years old (it's a great place to find a cake topper from your childhood), which made me uncomfortable thinking about placing it directly onto any baked goods. And while there were two women working at the store, and I walked up and down every aisle slowly, hoping to find something worth buying, I was never greeted or acknowledged. read more

I'm teaching myself how to bake. Its taking a lot of trial and error, along with the help of some great baking blogs and the amazing Martha Stewart. (I think she's awesome, don't judge) When I need any baking supplies to help me in my trial-and-error baking, I always turn to Kitchen Creations. When I was starting out, I would find myself at Michael's, buying whatever they had from their small selection. But, I hate Michael's; the store confuses me and overwhelms me. I'm so, so, so glad I found this place. Kitchen Creations does one thing and they do it right. The store is jam-packed with anything you need for baking and they have quality items vs the sub-par products you often find at Michaels. (Ateco brand vs Wilton). I personally head in here for americolor food coloring and meringue powder. I also love that they have the to-go packaging to pack cupcakes and other treats. I have to say, I give the staff here one big fat "meh." I don't find them as awesome as the other reviewers do. I never have had the urge ask them for advice or help. For me, this place is all about the selection and caliber of products. Despite the "meh," I know for sure that I'll keep on coming back because of the products offered and because its a hometown business. read more

This place has great products. However, their customer service could use some No, A LOT of help!!!! I was treated very rudely as I got there 7 min till opening & when I walked in (as the door was not locked) the woman yelled at me & said she had things to do & the register wasn't open yet. I said I wouldn't be purchasing anything till well after 10 cuz I was shopping, she then mumbled under her breath & said nasty thing to her co-worker about me. I put my things down & left. No one needs to be treated poorly!! NO ONE! We must be happy & grateful for life & treat each other w respect. This place doesn't care about their reputation or how they may have made others feel. The two ladies practically threw me out at 5:05pm. I explained to them I left work early just to come to their shop as I stood there with about fifty dollars worth of items in my hand and still needing about another 50 or so dollars more. Her response to me was that they closed at 5:00 regardless of anything else. I said okay and set my things down and started to walk out the back door. She said to me I already locked the back door can't you go out the front. I said I would prefer to go out the back door where I parked because it was raining out. She huffed... Not exaggerating and opened the back door. I would give them zero stars if I could. Please spend your money elsewhere. read more

It's true, they have a lot of stuff - probably more stuff then the small space that they occupy will allow - it is displayed poorly - a little messy. Their prices are high and they have odd hours. For a business, I think it is unprofessional not to even have voicemail set up on their telephone - no answering machine with store hours and directions - nothing - it just rings. Not too keen on their return policy - or shall I say no return policy either. Seems like a family owned hobby rather then a business to me. read more

This is a GREAT specialty store. They have most everything you could possibly need for baking. I've been here a few times for cake pans, cookie cutters, edible images, etc.. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because my OCD cringes every time I walk in the door. The shelves are not well organized and you have to sift through a lot of the things to find what you're looking for. The staff is very helpful though so if you're looking for something specific, ask and they usually know right where it is. Happy shopping! read more

This is a cook's best friend. It's for all types of bakers and candy makers. Even if you're just starting out or have been baking for 35 years. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful too. I'm always able to get answers to my questions. It's wonderful that it is located right here in Farmington too! I highly recommend Kitchen Creations; even if you have to drive far it is worth the trip. Make note of the hours so you don't show up on a day they are closed (Sunny and Monday). You can call ahead to make sure they're open. I love this store and have been shopping here for years. You need to spend $10.00 to use a credit card; but have no worries because you will. read more

I was in charge of making chocolate covered pretzels for my girlfriends wedding shower.. I am not from the Farmington Hills area, so I underestimated the traffic(which was more than horrific, added 35 minutes to my drive, NOT estimated on googlemaps). I called the staff 45 minutes before my arrival to let them know that I was not where I thought I would be by the time... I told the girl that I was stuck in traffic and about my plans; I gave her the number of pretzels I needed to make, and how I planned on decorating them. I asked that she have the items needed at the counter so that I would not be the last customer strolling through their store just minutes before closing(I have worked retail in the past, I don't like doing that!). I grew closer to the Farmington exit.. but the clock was getting the better of me, and I called to tell the staff member where I was located. She reminded me of the time that the store was closing, and she didn't think that I would make it in time. I asked to speak with the manager and asked that she run my card, and just put the product outside the door, because I was literally 5 minutes away. She originally told me it was too hot outside and that should could not. I explained that I was driving from an hour away and would not be able to come back to get the product at another time, I was under a very tight timeline. She was very kind and ended up staying on the phone with me to ensure that I got to there without any difficulties and rang me up 5 minutes after the closing time. I spent $40 in chocolate, but the count in chocolate was right on, and the color for dying worked really well. I was very happy with my Kitchen Creation experience. read more

First, let me say that I was pretty impressed with the cashier working at the time I visited. (The older lady who worked at a bakery) This was my first time ever feeling like anybody there was friendly and glad to have my business. She actually made me feel like I can't wait to come back. Finally some good customer service. But then things took a turn for the worse. I am outraged at this store owner's attitude towards exposing customer credit card information. After shopping there for years, I finally noticed how they keep the customers' credit card #s with their name in plain view. It took me a while to notice it with all the other things catching my attention, but with identity theft, it only takes 1 person to notice 1 thing, 1 time. The day I noticed it, maybe 6 months ago or so, I left feeling really uneasy about it, but I did not complain to management. It's not often that I voice my opinion in these situations. So the next few visits, I just shopped there and made sure to pay with cash. On 8/23/07, I didn't have enough cash on me so I wanted to use my credit card. I asked the cashier if they could turn the box around that sits on the counter and she told me they're actually updating their system the next day. We didn't talk long before the owner entered, so I thought, "oh, great!", and gladly expressed my concern to her, crazy enough to think she might care. To my surprise, she was really rude and unconcerned about it and basically showed she didn't value me, or any of the other customers. She was never apologetic or anything, just argumetative and snappy. She stated that she's been there for 20 years and hasn't had a problem yet. (First of all, when identity theft occcurs, people rarely know where to trace the problem back to. SHE hasn't had a problem, but have any of her customers? Secondly, why not be proactive and prevent someone's credit information from being stolen. I'm sure she wouldn't plaster her credit card up anywhere.) She also stated that it's just easier on them and that the new system will be in place the next day. She said, "I think it's ridiculous that you come in here and think you're going to tell me how to run my business." At that point, I let her know she doesn't have to worry about me ever coming back in there. I'd rather drive 30 miles to Heinrich's in Centerline than 6 miles to her store if that's how she values my business. By the way, Heinrich's has a much larger selection and better store hours...even open on Mondays. If you need a closer store, Hollie's Sweets and Treats is on Beech Daly off Grand River. They're open until 7pm most days. She also said that you wouldn't be able to use the information because you would have to have their signature. Does she even own a computer? Has she ever shopped online? Or paid for anything by phone even? Obviously she's still stuck in the 80s where these things weren't possible. Maybe she needs to be a victim before it becomes real to her. I told her that I realize the machine is old and that's the way they have to do things. That was not my problem. However, their old machine is no excuse for just stacking all the credit card receipts standing on the counter in plain view for all to see the most recent customer's name and credit card number. (they use those carbon copy receipts you swipe and imprint the card on) I expressed to her that it wasn't in the best interest of the customer's with all the identity theft taking place today --- a problem we didn't have 20 years ago, but all she could say is what's easier for her. All I asked is that she simply turn the box around to protect her customers....and this was a small box, not something she was physically unable to move or something. The best she could offer was to hide mine away from plain view. My concern was not just for me, but for the other customers too. Then she tells me it's behind the counter so people can't read it. So I read the entire credit card number and the person's name off to her, with no difficulty whatsoever. If you wanted to commit a crime of identity theft, this store owner definitely will assist with that. Don't expect too much in terms of customer satisfaction here, but they do offer assistance with identity theft. Even if she felt it was going to be fixed the next day, is it really too much to honor a simple request for the safety of your customer? Any business owner worth a grain of salt would have honored such a simple and legitimate request just not to lose a customer. In Michigan's economy, family businesses, especially, are struggling to survive. Without customers, your 20-year old business is nothing. Think about that. read more

Great place to shop for candy supplies. Somewhat friendly staff, somewhat helpful but for what they have in product makes up for it. They aren't rude they just don't really act like they want to be there. Which leads me to my next statement. YOU SHOULD STAY OPEN PAST 5 pm at least 1-2 nights a week. Even on Saturday you close early. Not everyone has a 9-5 job or a 5 day week. I bet you'd get more business. 2 of my friends like your store as well but have to go elsewhere because of your hours. Just a thought. You have a great little store with wonderful products but your hours to move the product are awful. If you think about your hours you are only open 34 hours a week! I can't say enough about Kitchen Creations and their staff! I came in from out of town and had ordered cupcakes online at a bakery that I was not familiar with. The cupcakes looked awful and I went to Kitchen Creations to see what I could do on my own to make them look better. I needed them for a Sunday bridal shower and had picked them up on Saturday. The ladies were SO helpful! They helped me buy decorations to put on the cupcake so no one would notice how informal and unfinished they looked. They spent so much time with me and tried several things on my one "test" cupcake. They ended up looking beautiful and everyone raved how beautiful they looked. Thank you ladies! I have been a customer here for many, many years. I have NEVER run across anyone rude to me either in person, or on the phone. They have items that I cannot purchase locally elsewhere and depending on who is working, often have staff who have quite a bit of experience with the products. They are NOT cheap, but they are also not overpriced as most of these products are specialty items. Great selections of decors, fillings, packaging, colors, etc. And if you are going to be arriving 5 minutes before they close (as another reviewer did), it would make much more sense to call ahead and ask if they can accommodate you (in most cases they will) - but just as you may not be able to stay late for your own job due to other obligations, don't expect them (or anyone else) to drop everything for you without prior arrangements. Love this place...and actually heading there again this morning because I need a few items. read more
