I did my kitchen in 2003, custom cabinets in my den in 2007, and am currently redoing my basement with cabinets custom cut to fit my very low ceilings. He understood what we wanted from the beginning. We went with a more Traditional look with a distressing package. The cabinets afe exactly what we envisioned and we could not be happier. We had our kitchen remodeled by Steve Haas at Kitchen Designs by KK and we can't say enough great things about Steve. This was our first ever kitchen remodel and what we learned through the process was this - even more important than the cabinets you choose is the kitchen designer you work with (the layout of the kitchen is the most important part of the entire kitchen remodel and Steve creates the layout). We worked with Steve Haas for over a year prior to having our kitchen cabinets installed and he was always super responsive, very helpful and absolutely a pleasure to work with. It should be noted that we were probably lower to middle tier clients for Kitchen Designs by KK, but Steve always treated us like we were his top priority. After a ton of research and working with Steve, we chose Brookhaven cabinets (Kitchen Designs by KK offer other cabinet manufactures as well). Brookhaven has a good reputation and what we really liked is Brookhaven has the flexibility to be built in 1/8 of an inch increments which is almost fully customizable. There was minor color defect with one of the Brookhaven decorative moldings and both Steve and Brookhaven were quick to resolve it without any issues. We are extremely happy with our Brookhaven cabinets and our experience with Steve. We highly recommend Steve Haas to friends and colleagues and wouldn't hesitate to work with him again in the future. read more

I went to the showroom to set up an appointment for an estimate and to see the set up and materials offered. I didn't get a chance to see anything, because I was strongly discouraged by the designer I spoke to. She informed me that I need to bring in all dimensions to have an estimate before she would send anyone to the house. How absurd! Other contractors come in and discuss the work. I knew my dimensions, however, and was given a rough estimate of 30 to 40,000 dollars for a 5 by 7 bathroom. That doesn't sound like a budget friendly charge. I felt like she was just being polite, but couldn't wait for me to leave. Maybe I didn't look like a wealthy customer. Rude! read more

I had the very fortunate experience of working with Steve and Ken on my kitchen in Island Park. I cannot say enough amazing things about this company. I live in Kansas City and did all of this planning from afar, which is not an easy task. Not only did they quote me a reasonable price (and worked with me when I said I wanted to bring it down) but they handled EVERY detail, down to helping me obtain the permits for Sandy that were done incorrectly 10 years prior. We would give kitchen Designs by Ken Kelly 10 stars if it were possible. My husband and I originally hired Ken Kelly only to measure, draw up blue prints and order our kitchen cabinets and hardware. While our limited budget prevented us from having his staff install the cabinets and oversee the rest of the project, we did not want to compromise on beautiful high end cabinetry, and had already decided on Cuisimax Maple, which he carries. Our cabinets arrived at our house and we hired an independent contractor to install them. While the decision was made purely based on budgetary limitations, within two days we came to regret it when it became clear that our contractor was inept, unfamiliar with European style cabinetry, and incapable of completing the job. Out of desperation, we reached out to Ken who immediately came over with his head contractor to evaluate the nightmare left behind in our kitchen. Out of complete kindness, his crew took on our job and literally started from the beginning, dismantling everything and completing out kitchen, somehow enabling us to stay within budget. We leaned several lessons that day. Firstly, whenever possible hire the best, because simply speaking you get the best. From Ken's design to his quality cabinets to the artistry of the contractors and the efficient detail-oriented project manager (Geri), Ken Kelly surrounds himself with a team of expert professionals who work together like a symphony to deliver perfection. This is the most updated review, all the others are from 2-3 years ago when the company was much more accommodating. I would stay away from this kitchen design company. While they have a beautiful showroom, they are NOT flexible with pricing. We went in for our first consultation and loved speaking with Mario, he had great ideas and was easy to speak with. He gave us an initial quote that we were ok with, it fit into our budget so we were happy. We came back a month later to discuss our plan in detail and Mario was to provide an updated price. We were completely shocked when we got our new price, it was 50% higher than the initial quote. We were very unhappy and asked for them to reconsider the price. They WOULD NOT work with us at all. They insisted they had no flexibility on price. However I am pretty familiar with the cabinet industry and I know the market up for cabinets is 40-50% so I was really shocked when they would not negotiate with us. We spent a lot of time with Mario and invested a lot of energy into the design of the kitchen so we were shocked when they would not even consider hearing us out. We even spoke to the owner of the company Ken, who would rather lose a $68,000 kitchen (that was how much our kitchen was costing) than reduce the price a little. He is only interested in OVERCHARGING his customers. At that price you can get custom cabinets made. Also if you wanted stock cabinets there are a ton of other cabinet store to check out that offer a great cabinet and are much will to work with your budget such at Douglas Kitchens, North Shore Cabinetry, Showroom Kitchens. read more
