It's too bad Kitsap Kids Dentistry no longer accepts new patients military children with United Concordia insurance. Kitsap community thrives off of the military presence in the area and I was truly shocked to find out they are no longer accepting United Concordia new patients! I wanted to give this place 5 stars because my past experience has been always great. We are a military family so every couple of years we have to move around but this has been one of the best dental offices we have been to. I wanted to start off by saying that we have been taking our two kids to Dr Banks for over 9 years and the kids love the Environment as well as the staff. Super friendly / nice patient care staff. In the past I would have recommend this dentist with a 4.5 to a 5 star rating even though the back office is not very family friendly. However, this past year all current patients were notified that they have decided to drop all insurance plans and become a non-participating provider to all plans. The reason and justification behind the move were stated to us in person and in a letter that it was not about money, but that Dr Banks was being told how to run her practice. Insurances were not even allowing her to follow the standard guild lines of Pediatric Dentists. They went on to state that as a cause of this change, we would more than likly see a minor increase in costs. We believed and trusted their statements. Fast forward to 5 months after the first cleaning of the year. I get a bill for the 2 kid's cleanings in the amount of $305 prior cost $0 (don't know about you but that is not small). Their comment was: "we document that we told you in April"..........what....that is customer service for you. So, putting it frankly, Dr. Banks group was paid $550 for prior cleaning of my two kid's (same procedure codes, and gross charges on each compared bill) all paid by the insurance. My cost zero. Now this visit insurance paid $285 to Dr. Bank's as a Non provider, and I owe $305. I wonder who is better off here. As I see it Dr Banks received an extra $40 win, insurance paid $265 less win, and my family $300 more loser. Called and talked to my insurance provider and asked about all the arguments that were presented by Dr. Banks and their comment was simply we don't tell providers how to treat patients only what services we will cover and which we will not. Called the other 3 dental insurances I can pick from at my employer same response. My end result was that WE WERE LIED too or at best was told a half truth, and this was a money grab at the cost of her patient families. So much for caring.... Never new going to the dentist I would need to put up my shielding and questions everything like dealing with a used car salesman or time share presentation. I am not telling you what to do but please do your research and know that you will be paying a lot to have your kids play with toys. read more

First appointment for my daughter since she had a mouth trauma at age 1. She was feeling nervous. They are very kid friendly and the staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Our dental hygienist was very patient with my daughter who was screaming when it came time to cleaning her teeth. She did calm down and let the hygienist brush her teeth. Dr. Banks came in and was very friendly and interactive in a very calming way. My daughter was cooperative with her and I could tell she liked her. Taking my son here next time for his cleaning! Updated Review: My kids were patients at Kitsap Kids Dentistry for over 4 years and while we had great experiences with the dentists and staff we had to switch because my youngest needed some work done and Dr. Banks doesn't contract with my insurance providers (Regence and GEHA). They have great toys and stuff in the office but as a patient we are paying for that with high costs for services. Before switching I talked through it with several friends who have kids around the ages of mine (6 & 8) and many of them used to go to Kitsap Kids but switched for the same reasons. They referred me to a different pediatric office not far away, very friendly, and actually contracts with insurance providers so patients aren't paying an arm and a leg out of pocket. Grateful that Kitsap Kids showed my girls that the dentist doesn't have to be scary but it's time to move on. Original Review: Kitsap Kids Dentistry is amazing! My girls actually enjoying going to the dentist because the staff here is so friendly and the office was built to cater to children! They've turned a somewhat "scary" experience into fun. The office is amazing and very child oriented. I love that they make the experience for my kiddos enjoyable and made sure they felt relaxed for their 1st time visits. The kids even got tshirts that they love. My problem from the adult stand point is the billing. They are out of network for my insurance and cost me a large amount of money for my daughter to get cavities filled. The largest part of my frustration is that my bill is always higher than I'm quoted and I'm talking 100s. It's time for me to find a new provider that isn't so expensive. read more

I've taken my kids here since they were 2 (they're now 3 and 5) and it's the best possible dental experience for them! They get to play in the waiting room, there's toys, books and a teeth brushing puppet in each exam room. The hygienists are friendly and understand kids and the dentists are quick and efficient (exactly what you need at meltdown time). The kids get stickers throughout and a little toy at the end of the visit, as well as their picture taken and posted on the dentist Facebook page. The rewards for good dental habits are now part of my kids routines. They know they want to stay in the cavity free club and don't fight me on brushing! read more

My OBGYN, Amity Marriott, recommended my two month old son and me to Kitsap Kids Dentistry. We were having an extremely terrible experience nursing!!! She explained that my son should get evaluated for both tongue tie and lip tie. Marriott said that there are a few places in kitsap county that do such evaluation but didn't even bother listing them and just directed us to Kitsap Kids Dentistry. Which i am really glad that she did! I LOVED going here!! As soon as you make your way to the building, it's a little further back, so there's cute yellow frogs on the pavement leading you to the building. And there's even super cute signs! I literally was smiling and laughing at how cute all the signage is!! Once you get into the actual building everything is just as cute! The place is themed and decked out just for kids!!! They have a cute little play place, a huge television in the waiting room! Inside the evaluation room there were tons of toys! And books! I just loved everything. Even though my son is only two months. We plan to come here when he gets teeth lol. read more

Fun place to take your kids too but watch out for them billing you for extra stuff you never knew you paid for and then never answering the phones when you have questions. Very frustrating. We have been going here for 8 years and now rethinking it all. I did not like how I was sent a bill for things I never authorized and then just given a bill with no explanation of what it was for. It wasn't even in my kid's names so it looked like it could be a fraudulent bill. I left at least three voicemails and never got a call back and had to keep calling to get someone to talk to me. Both of my kids have been going here since they were old enough for the dentist and it's been a pleasurable experience every single time. I love the fact that when my daughter had a small cavity they opted to wait until the next appointment to see if it got worse and if they needed to fill it. To me, that makes me feel confident that they aren't pushing services upon parents and children. I didn't wanna do this because I do have a friend that works at this company, but honestly I need to warn parents so they stop using this dentist. I have two children and both of them have had dental surgeries at kitsap kids dentistry in Bremerton Washington. Both of them have had dental problems after the surgeries, I took them in multiple times to have them checked just to be sent home. My oldest daughter kept complaining about mouth pain so I decided to take her to a different dentist, then to find that she had an infection that kitsap kids dentist was responsible for. The fact that I took my daughter back the kitsap kids dentist multiple times and they did not fix this issue is mind blowing. Now I have my youngest daughter who had a surgery there and I paid for a cavity to be fixed so she didn't have to get any more teeth pulled. I paid $600 out of pocket they didn't fix the cavity. I tried to take her back in three times and they wanted me to pay again out of pocket for their mistake. I have insurance now I tried to go back to have them fix it they refused to fix it without me paying out-of-pocket. Why should I pay for some thing that I already paid for. They are constantly charging parents for services and not following through on that service. The fact that they are still open and really blows my mind. Don't go to them. They trick you by making the dentist area seems so cute so sweet all the toys all the movies how nice they are but their actual talent of dentistry is really lacking. Now I have two children with horrible teeth. No child should have to go through the amount of pain that my daughters have gone through. I even called the office this morning and they won't even apologize. So here you go this is what really happens if you go to kitsap kids dentistry in Bremerton Washington. I wrote a review on here a few years ago and I do not see my review on here any more. A few years ago I had a really bad experience when I felt like we were pressured into using general anesthesia at the hospital as our only treatment option. A few years later, I took my older son in and once again - we were pressured into scheduling general anesthesia for him as well as he needed about 4 teeth worked on. When I refused to schedule the hospital appointment right then because I wanted to get a second opinion I was treated rudely. I now live in Puyallup and take my kids to Just For Kids Dentistry and it has been a true blessing. They do not push general anesthesia and broke up his appointments into four 20 minute procedures. I didn't even have to request this. They do not like putting kids under, because it is extremely invasive! I just want people who go to this dentist to know that general anesthesia is NOT your only option!! They have an amazing office and nice dentist, but I'm sticking to my opinion that I do not like their treatment plans. I'd like to know how many kids they treat using general anesthesia and how many they try to use less invasive plans with. read more

It is always stressful moving (which is a constant in our lifestyle) and finding quality health care. Kitsap Kid's Dentistry is great. The office staff is very efficient and friendly. The hygenists are great at putting children at ease and making the whole experience "fun". And, Dr.Banks seems like she genuinely enjoys working with kids. Same day appointments are no problem for emergencies, and the staff goes above and beyond to answer questions and explain things. The waiting area is very kid friendly. There is a TV, gaming console, and many toys! The back area is decorated in a kid friendly beach theme. And,they also offer individual rooms for parents with younger kids that are hard to keep seated while waiting! They keep toys to entertain the kids in these back rooms, as well. I work in the dental industry and believe its best to have children seen by a practice that caters to the needs of kids. This practice does that and hits it out of the park. Children can be apprehensive coming to any doctors appts and the dentist is no exception, but the minute you walk into this practice you can tell they are nothing but about taking care of kids. They have a friendly staff whom are all welcoming, a dedicated area just for the kids with a TV, books and up to date video consoles. For routine cleanings they have flat beds for the younger kids that each have a TV overhead to keep the kids occupied. They are usually playing Disney movies which is another plus in my books. Kids don't like to wait they don't have to. This office has an amazing way of communicating with one another. Lil ear pieces that allow them to seamlessly contact the front office without leaving the child. My kids love their appointments and can't wait to go back. The office staff here is super nice and willing to work with people. My dental insurance doesn't cover anything but preventative care and dental work is super expensive. They were able to work something out with me and my son could get his fillings. It does sometimes take awhile to get in, the appointments are booked out kind of far-but that tells me that they are worth the wait. I thought that my son wouldn't like going to the dentist, but he loves it there! That really takes the stress away when going to the dentist. They have games the kids can play before their appointments and the dentist is very nice. Overall this is a great kid's dentistry. read more

My kids have been visiting Kitsap Kid's dentistry for several years. The experience is unlike any other dentist or doctor's office that I have been to. From the moment you walk in you're met with a sweet, tropical smell and Hawaiian vibe that is super welcoming. The technicians, administrators, and dentist are a pleasure to interact with. Really heartbreaking to have to add a not so positive review to a place we have always loved. We have been going here since day one, Dr Banks and her team has always been so amazing with both my kids which one is special needs. I have always felt my children were completely well taken care of until recently. Past few visits DR Banks hasn't been who we first met. She used to be warm and get one and one on my children's level and really interacting with them making them feel comfortable. The recent visits have been as all i can describe is "cold, no connection with my children." Today we made the decision to no longer have our kids see Dr. Banks but another Dr in her office. The only reason we stay is because our daughter loves their dental assistant Haley and by requesting their dental assistant Abby to never care for either of children. Its a great facility with a lot of great employees that are amazing with children in most our experiences until recently. Our daughter went in for a sedated dental procedure. Haley brought our daughter back to first get X-rays which normally our daughter would be crying or hesitant. But with Haley our daughter was laughing and happy she felt comfortable. After xrays and getting ready for her procedure the dental assistant Abby came in. Haley introduced her. Abby didnt even make eye contact or say hello to either of us or even say hi to our daughter. She just sat down, clearly was agitated because our daughter was starting to get nervous and moving around. Our daughter then starts bawling and taking off her nitrous nose mask. At that point Abby states loudly "taking off the mask can make her suffocate." At that point my daughter was done and even more upset. Long story short, 8 hours later my daughter is still saying " i dont want to suffocate from the dentist!" All she remembers is that terrifying moment of only having the mask on for a few moments and my daughter pushing it off her face and having someone tell them they can suffocate. (Yes my child knows what that means because she comes from a family of nurses and drs and loves reading and learning about how to help ppl.) Abby left when we said nope this goes no further. Haley helped calm my daughter down and keep the room calm, A place my child has always felt safe no longer trusts her dentist or one of their assistance. After speaking with our daughter she has made to decision to just see a different dentist in the office but hopes she can always have Haley. We are so grateful for the amazing care Haley has always shown our children and she is a huge part to why we are staying with Kitsap Kid's Dentistry. Clearly its easy for staff to forget they are working with children and how to speak and act with children. Hopefully Kitsap Kid's Dentistry knows how outstanding Haley is and how lucky they are to have her. read more

There is no better children's dental office in Kitsap County than Kitsap Kid's Dentistry - absolutely, hands down no way! The new location (just a hop, skip and jump away from their old office) is absolutely beautiful - and kids get the sense of "fun" from the moment they walk in, which makes it much easier on parents who may have reluctant little ones. Right away, new patients are greeted (by first name) on a chalk board as soon as you walk in the entrance. The little details matter, and this office gets it. The waiting room is a mini playland for kids of all ages. I have a 6 year old girl and 9 year old boy and they both ask to leave for their appts earlier than needed JUST to play around in the kids waiting area. I bet you don't hear that often! All of the staff members are great with kids, I've never encountered someone who my kids (or myself) were uncomfortable with. I love how they refer to themselves and each other as "Ms. _____" too! Once again - it's the little things. The fun decor and entertaining environment make each visit a blast. Each doctor (especially Dr.Banks) is knowledgeable and really takes the time to make the kids feel important, special and at ease. My daughter had to have 4 teeth worked on when she was just shy of 4 years old. Dr Banks elected to do the procedure at the hospital since she felt anesthesia would be beneficial for her (she did not always have the same lovefor her dentist as she does now). I was a wreck that day, but Dr. Banks took the time to ease my fears and make me feel much more comfortable with my baby girl going under. I hated the fact she had to have so much dental work done at such a young age, but there's nobody I could trust more than Dr.Banks to get the job done. Laura, the office manager is excellent to work with as well! I recommend anybody new to the area or just looking for a new dentist to stop searching and make the call. My kids went to Kitsap Kids Dentistry for 5 years. Over that time they overbilled me in a variety of ways. Most alarmingly, Dr Banks recommended fillings/crowns for my children's teeth that our new dentist said were not warranted. Our new dentist saw no decay on the teeth Dr Banks insisted needed fillings/crowns. Another time, they charged me several hundred dollars more than my portion of the bill for fillings. Even though I asked to verify the bill with my insurance first (as it sounded high) they insisted I pay right then before they would complete the fillings. Later, after calling my insurance, I called Kitsap Kids to ask how they calculated my excessive bill, I was told that I simply didn't understand how my insurance works. After explaining in detail exactly how the "accepted fees" and percentages worked with my insurance, they changed their explanation for the over charge to "our computer calculates it, I don't know how". Ultimately, my insurance statement agreed that they had over charged me approx $300. Another time, they told me that they weren't a contracted provider with my new insurance and I was responsible for 100% of their extremely high "initial" fees (no "accepted fees" discount, no discount for cash offered). After calling my insurance, this was untrue! They are a contracted provider thru my insurance and do have to charge me the discounted rates "accepted fees" that are in their contract with the insurance provider. If you go here for dentistry, be prepared to fully understand how your dental insurance works and be prepared for excessive bills and excessive recommendation for dental work. read more

My son has always been scared of the high pitch squeal of the teeth cleaner but today he didn't mind it and was actually pretty happy to get his teeth cleaned. Dr. Banks and her staff has always been gentle and patient with my son. We would like to be closer to home but he just loves it here and now that he doesn't mind his teeth being cleaned we'll continue to come back. read more

Don't get me wrong, this place is awesome. The dentists and techs are caring and the support staff are efficient and friendly. Like everyone else said, the decor is super kid friendly and my kid always has a blast while we're in the waiting room. Only gripe I have is the price. 170 for a check up that involves a quick look in the mouth and a brushing. Yikes. That said, we still pay to take our kid twice a year so that says something about the quality of care. If you have insurance, definitely go for it. If you don't... I brought my daughter here for her first dental experience and it was wonderful! She is only 15 months old so this was really just a routine check to see how her teeth were coming in and to make sure everything was going ok and the staff was amazing. They really comforted her to make sure she wasn't scared and felt at home. Dr Banks is wonderful. She personally called us the night before our appointment to see if we had any concerns or were worried about anything and then she told us what she would be doing today. We are military so we will be PCSing soon so I'm sad my daughter won't be able to come here any more but I highly recommend this facility! Took my daughter today who will be turning 3 soon for her very first ever dental exam and I was DREADING it seen as getting my child to sit still and do something she doesn't want to is a challenge. From start to finish everyone was nice and super friendly and my daughter did great. It was definitely kept very basic for my toddler who wouldn't lay on table but they were able to accommodate that with no problem. Now she is in the Cavity Free Club and got a big goodie bag with a t shirt! Cant wait to see them in February. read more

Rude. Dishonest. Condescending. My daughter is autistic and needs anesthesia for prolonged dental work. She has some pretty painful cavities, so we made an appointment several months in advance for the fillings/crowns, as they only do the anesthesia every so often, and we had to put $300 down to hold the spot. The financial coordinator said the rest would be due day of the procedure, since it could be between $500 to $1800. A week before the procedure, they called and told us we had to pay $1500 or the appointment would be cancelled. Their website states "payment is due at the time the dental procedure is provided." Which is also what the financial coordinator said. When we told this to the office lady on the phone, who had been rude from the get-go, she got very condescending and said that's not how this works, and that the website was only for routine procedures. I told her to cancel the appointment, that we would go with an honest office, and could I come in to pick up my $300? She snidely replied the financial coordinator will be in touch. I don't even know where to begin. From the office staff to the Doctors, everyone is amazing and full of kindness. My son has sensory issues and gets anxious very easily. The staff and Dr. Banks were so patient and made him feel so comfortable! They all go above and beyond to make sure that everything is perfect and that your child is number one. He had to have dental work done under anesthesia, Dr. Banks and staff went the extra mile. We got the teeth that they pulled in a cute little tooth box so that he could leave them for the tooth fairy. We have had Dr. Banks for several years for our children as they have grown. At the beginning, it was friendly and fun for the kids. Unfortunately, in the last few visits, the professional and cheerful demeanor is absent, and in its place are: lack of caring about true oral health, sneaking kids down the hall behind my back to get extra x-rays even though I asked that not to occur, taking a mostly blank digital x-ray and blaming me when the thyroid collar blocked the picture, pushing fillings in "shadows" {tiny cavities in baby teeth} and then using threatening language on the phone about being a neglectful parent when I didn't schedule my son for his procedure right away. I was simply quiet at our last appointment, and decided to fill out the review they send after the appointment via e-mail. Did you know that if you are not going to give them 5 stars, they ask you to call instead? Me, neither. So, since I had concerns about the level of professionalism and change in chair-side manner, I did call. I was disappointed by the return call. If you are professional, and want the best for your patients, this is not how to act. Additionally, a clerical error in billing was made--I was interrupted several times on one phone call when I was trying to explain about having a primary and secondary insurance. The billing was made in error by the dental office, and yet, I was informed that I would have to pay for it. ??? I have never been treated this badly by any business. Ever. If you believe that the dentist knows all, and enjoy being cajoled into extra fines, fees and procedures, this is a great office for you. Dr. Jessie Banks was a wonderful dentist, along with her amazing dental assistant, Tiffany! It's usually a fight to get my daughter to sit still and cooperate, but Tiffany was able to explain to my daughter what she was doing and helped her understand that everything was going to be okay. Dr. Banks was great. She explained to me the details of my daughter's care and what we needed to do next as far as her teeth. Great kids dentist! Dr. Banks was great with my daughter. The hygenist was very good also. Atmosphere is wonderful. They have a separate waiting room for the children with toys and a large screen TV. Toys are in the exam room too. Most importantly, they did what was comfortable for the child. In my case, that was her being in my lap during the exam. Also, their website is very informative. Print out your forms ahead of time and minimize your wait. For someone with a very active toddler, this is extremely important. While my toddler was not thrilled with the idea of anyone being near her mouth. (understatement) The folks here were very understanding and got the job done with a minimum of fuss. read more
