Stayed here for 3 days while visiting grandkids . Campground is really nice. We are in upper level #137. Flat level sites from what we can see. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 is because they have everything closed as if it were July of 2020 due to covid. Time to move on and reopen. Being this close to Legoland, Orange County fair, and other attractions you should be full this time of year. I can only imagine having everything closed is hurting your business. Hope you reopen everything, since this is a really nice campground.

Last 2 nights of our 10 day trip and couldn't find many places open in the area. Tired as hell from driving. We called here twice in one day to ask about vacancy. My wife spoke to the owner Rita early in the day on a Friday. Rita stated she has a $90/night pull-thru for our Forest River, but we need to make a decision now because she can't hold the spot. She was on speakerphone, so I heard the conversation, and Rita actually said that we need to make a decision now because she "can't be flexible and has a lot of people coming this weekend" (Oct 23-25, 2020). SO....made a few more calls, looked at sites, not much open in the area, so I decided to call back myself. Rita told me that the space is available, but did I want it for 1 or 2 nights? Because not being sure if I wanted to stay 1 or 2 nights, now I'm complicating things because this is a busy weekend for her and if I book for 1 night, she's not sure she can give me a 2nd night because she's that busy and she has a lot of people coming in. I asked her if she gives a veteran discount (I'm a post 9-11 disabled combat Infantry veteran who spent 22 months total in Iraq and 12 yrs in the military). She says that $90 IS the discounted price. I ask why didn't she just, A) Tell me the regular price and say there's also a discount price, or B) Tell me this is a discounted price and ask if I'm using a discount, or will I be paying the full price of ???. Rita says that most people have some type of discount, so that's the price she quotes. Really? It was $90 before I ever asked about a discount, and she quoted the same price earlier without any mention of a discount to my wife. That extra $10 must mean a lot to her. SO...since not much else in the area was open, or could accommodate a 37ft RV with 3 slides, I bit the bullet and booked. Get there, call Rita as directed, and she guided us to the upper area for class A's I guess. We get to the top, I say thank you so much and drive through about FIFTY EMPTY SITES before we get to our site. Our site had about another FIFTY FIVE or so EMPTY SITES. We park, stay for the night, get up the next day, and start our exit drive. The next level down from us, about another THIRTY or FORTY EMPTY SITES. Next level down from there, another THIRTY or FORTY more EMPTY SITES. This place had decent reviews and that's why I decided to pay the higher amount as opposed to the $45-50 campgrounds within a 20 mile radius, of which were about two. We were so happy to be able to get a place to stay for the night. Tanks were full, it was nasty weather, drove all day and we just wanted to rest for the night. I didn't like Rita's tone after her initial "Black Bear Campground" welcome answering the phone. It was obvious that she was very well aware that there were no other campsites open, and whatever she wanted, she knew we were going to pay. I'm a business owner myself, so I know business is business. But ya know what? I NEVER EVER take advantage of any of my customers. I have NOT ONE review under 5-stars. Because I'm fair. Not greedy. And I don't take advantage. I read all the bad reviews of Rita and her keeping customers deposits during the whole pandemic. I didn't like that, but the fact remained...we needed a place to stay. In hindsight, we should've found the closest Walmart. They would've taken better care of us. We thought we were SO lucky that she was able to take us in. Not sure if I can post pictures in this review, but we took pictures of all the empty sites that we thought were full for the weekend, and that's why we were being charged premium price. I hope I can post them...with dates and all...so you all can see how full of bologna Rita was. To fellow RV,'ers, most of you are such good people. Please take this review into consideration. To Rita, I hope you had a great breakfast at McDonald's with the extra $10. To ALL, obviously this isn't about the money. It's principle. Me? I sleep well at night with how I treat my customers. Then again, I don't think this bothers Rita one bit. People like that are totally ok with themselves.

We were less than impressed. Could have been a beautiful campground, but they cut down all the trees to squeeze in more campsites. Bathrooms were ok, but not great. Expensive for what you get.

Nice campground, has a pool, laundry facilities, showers, convenience store and a recreational room. Sites were mainly filled by craftsmen & welders that are working on the Tappanzee Bridge, very few families, mostly workers. Very quiet and clean.

    Beautiful Saturday night view.

The best thing, Happy Days is only 4 miles from one of the greatest attractions in New York ....Bethel Woods, the 69' Woodstock Concert Field and the historic Woodstock Museum (which is a must see... you'll thank me later). The campgrounds are covered in pine trees, so you awake to great, fresh smelling air. It's very clean. The showers, bathrooms and rec room were immaculate. I drove my RV here, but on the premises, you can rent well restored, classical 3-wheel campers for a minimal fee and spend the night in camping luxury (and instead of my gas guzzling RV, I'll bring my car next time, instead and still save).... Tim, one of the owners, is great. From his story, he had no intention of running a campsite. He was in corporate management. He came to Happy Days as a kid. When the woman who owned the site told him, he'd have to find another place to camp next year ... the wheels went into motion. This campsite is Tim and his brother's baby and the care and the high standards they have also shows in their appreciation of their customers ... and I'm sure that comes from having originally been a customer of the campsite. Make sure you make reservations in advance, especially when Bethel Woods has a concert planned for the weekend. I was going to stay an extra day but I waited too long. Booked for the Bethel Woods concert goers.

Must book the entire holiday weekend 3 days (90$ for non electric sites add $5 each day for electric). I believe it's 51 camp sites which vary in size and majority has electric hookups. When not going on a holiday it is first come first serve spots which is good if you just need to spend one night here. Pull into whichever site you want and at some point the groundskeepers will come to collect your money. It's deep in the woods of the park so there is good shade which is nice on the hotter days. The campgrounds have two bathroom facilities which have showers. No complaints with the bathrooms from me but I didn't use the shower part. The bathrooms are cleaned daily or every other day it seemed. Some spots are more secluded than others..and there is a bit of a hill to the bathroom if you pick spots 1-7 and 48/9 I think it was. Something to consider if you have mobility issues. There are water spigots around the grounds and attached to the bathroom facilities. But no actual sites with water hookups for RVs. The workers drive around the campsite every few hours and each time we have been there (maybe 4 or 5 times) the local police have made their presence known. No alcohol is allowed at this campground. Each site has a picnic table & fire ring. The sites are gravel/dirt & grass. Quiet hours are from 10pm-7am. We found the sites closer to the Playground side/closer to the bathrooms to be more noisy. Also those sites are closer together which would be good for larger groups. Have never had a problem with noise though we have only stayed further away from those areas. The playground has a volleyball net and other Normal playground equipment that I saw driving past it. There is no longer Boat Rentals at this park.. but there is a large lake to kayak and fish in. NO SWIMMING. The lake is a nice size and has a trail so you walk the entire length with benches around a good portion to sit and/or fish. There is a nice sized pond at the park to fish which also has benches around it. By the pond there is a nice picnic area with many picnic tables and grills. Another playground and a large pavilion. This picnic area also has a bathroom. There is a pond when you first turn into the park. The pond also has benches around it but not all the way around. Fishing license is require to fish here and they do come around to check licenses. This place is great if you want to just get away into the woods. Check the parks website to see site sizes before going or stop and take your pick of what's available.

We've traveled over 5000 miles this holiday and stayed in a variety of camp grounds and take the worse roads you have ever seen and times it by 10. It was scary pulling the rv in. Major MASSIVE pot holes, un even roads. Lose 1 star due to presentation. I wish I had taken more photos. But this place does not show a "camp ground" it is more like an "trailer park". Many (most all) the guests clearly live there full time. Many units it looks like a dump outside. Trash and garbage everywhere. And trailers are packed in TIGHT. Bumper to bumper! Many units have freezers outside and most have diy trashing looking trailer skirts. This is not entirely the parks fault but several units didn't even watch their kids! I saw a kid chase a dog and it's owner, the dog Trying to bite it and the kid tried to go into the persons camper! And this same kid would not stop taunting and teasing my own dogs so much that I couldn't even walk them. Cars are parked all over the area, making it difficult to get in and out. To get into the park, someone had to move their car. To leave the park we had to inch by as there were 10+ cars parked along the exit. The exit, which has METAL SPIKES to prevent you from coming in the wrong way. Staff was friendly and gave us no issues! The pool area and the gorgeous lake were in good condition. So much potential here if the roads were better and the tenants cleaned up. The game groom is indoors and has carpet. But they must leave the door open, as the floor looked like the ground of a forest eoth leaves, dirt and debris everywhere. Most the water hookups had heaters attached to them. Of course, if you're visiting Yogi and friends, you're coming for the kids (and the water park). They have events you can sign up for, but don't count on them actually running. For example - the first night there was the silent disco. This is where you get headphones and get to rock out to your own music and just dance around. Good for kids and easy on the parents/anyone with sensory issues where it might be very loud. Except it didn't work - the headphones, the music, none of it. The young teens working there looked bored out of their skulls. Did nothing to entertain the kids waiting. After about 10 minutes of futzing around with the equipment, they were like eh "so and so said we didn't have to do the disco". Kind of annoying. On a rainy day, our laser tag got cancelled. Also kind of annoying, but you can't control the rain since this is an outdoor event. Wish they had some kind of indoor space in general for this in the event of rain. The inflatable pillow jumping pads were not inflated any of the times we visited the playground area. On the aforementioned rainy day, we took a stroll to the crafts area and figured, well maybe we can each get the kids something to paint. Except we were told that they don't do that, you have to pay them come back at the specified craft nights. What??? There's two people working here. And there is tons of stuff. But we can't buy something and just paint or assemble any of the crafts now? Make it make sense. Also, don't count on actually meeting Yogi Bear if you pay for the special Yogi Bear breakfast because we did pay for this add on, and neither he nor Boo Boo ever came to the outside pavilion where the event was. The attraction here is really the pool and splash parks which were a lot of fun for the kids. It opens at 10, which is kind of late. If you have kids, they're probably up early and chomping at the bit to come here. There are few other things to do before hand, other than mini golf or the play ground. The mini golf was cute and it's nice you can just play at your leisure and the equipment is always out. Other nice thing was the AC in the cabin worked very well. When we stayed it was mid-upper 90s and very humid. But you might want to wear shoes/sandals because the floor left the bottom of our socks quite dirty when we had them on and not crocs/sandals. The loft area in the cabin was a hit with the kids as well. All in all, our experience here was mixed. Would we come back? Eh. Maybe. The kids had fun and at the end of the day I'm grateful for that. But I'd like to explore other places before returning most likely.

It is VITAL that we have reliable internet to do this, however, so we always call ahead about the wifi. Before we rented, we called, asked about the wifi situation and were assured we would have a spot with a strong signal. My husband owns a software development company that customizes systems for businesses, and we have to be available to our staff of developers and programmers mornings and evenings. The internet did not work... at all. When we attempted to contact the owner/manager(?) by phone, there was no answer. Our voicemail messages went unreturned. Our email was also ignored. We finally got a return text but the owner said we should try getting on the wifi outside (in the cold). She then suggested we should enlist the help of a neighbor to connect (Again, we own a tech company. Not knowing how was never the issue.). She was very rude, dismissive and then devolved from the person we had just seen walking everywhere claiming they couldn't help us, because they can't walk, were tired, in pain and "about to be sick". We discovered that there was an up charge for "premium wifi"... So, if that is indeed the case, we just needed someone to take our credit card number by phone to give us the premium access to the internet. We suspect "premium internet" is a myth, since as soon as we requested it, the owner stopped replying to our messages. The final message we received was an ALL CAPS claim of being practically at death's door. If that's the case, someone else should be onsite to handle issues. We will be requiring our rental fee back.
