Since moving to Livermore, I've tried to find a new dentist without much luck. A friend-of-a-friend recommended Dr King, and I'm so glad she did! Dr King has been very helpful with my recent tooth problems. She is very gentle and patient, which is important to me because I had some really bad dental experiences in the past. It turns out my problems required a crown and an extraction. She gave me a really good crown and referred me to another excellent provider for the extraction. A good friendly neighborhood dentist's office - the staff members are always very kind, proficient, and welcoming. Dr. King isn't afraid to take on challenging issues ( which I have some) that most the other doctors shy away from. The dentist answered all my questions patiently, I always thought "cleaning" was more of a cosmetic procedure for a sparkly smile but little did I know, it actually prevents bone degeneration and much more. I was given some solid advice, things to avoid & to follow until the next visit. I feel very optimistic and look forward to continuing my treatment at her office. I feel confident I am in very good hands. I looked at the reviews of local dental offices and although the reviews here are a bit old, they stood out to me and I decided to give them a try and I am so glad I did. Let me preface this by saying I am petrified of the dentist. I was never scared of the dentist before my awful experience at First Street Dental (now defunct). I waited 3 years to go back to a dentist (I know, awful and gross). Well, I finally decided to give it a try and heard good thinks about Dr. King. The office staff is AWESOME. The put my mind at ease and my hygenist was great. Dr. King is very nice. She spent some time with me examining my teeth and gave me a clean bill of health. She literally turned around a horrible experience for my young son that could have made him fearful of the dentist for life (at another dentist). I can't believe Kitty Hawk hasn't been reviewed before! Dr. King and her staff are WONDERFUL!! I've been going here for over 3 years. The office is small, squeaky clean and inviting. The front desk workers are warm and welcoming. I've had several different dental assistants for my cleanings and all of them have been kind, gentle and informative. You can even watch TV during your appointment if you want. I personally enjoy chatting with the assistant during the appointment - they are wonderful, fun people! When Dr. King comes in, she is polite, professional and the cherry on top of one of the best dental offices I've been to. Another SUPER plus: they DO NOT try to tell you you have cavities that you really don't! Dr. King is a really great dentist. I feel like she is very good at all of the standard "dentist things" of course, but she is also very nice in a sincere way, not that kind of forced, fake nice that sometimes happens when you see people only twice a year. Her office staff is helpful and accommodating, even when my schedule has been difficult or I have made mistakes in my scheduling. The hygienist that I have had the last few visits (I feel so bad I can't remember her name) was also amazing. Staff is SO friendly. Each room has it's own tv which is a HUGE plus. They have texting appt reminders which is fun. My only semi-complaint for one less star is that Dr. King is literally only been in the room with me for a total of maybe 15 minutes in the 3 visits that I have had & I spend the appt time with the assistant instead. I just had to write this am. I have been going to Dr. King for about 2-3 years now, routine appointments, nothing out of ordinary. Good service, nice team. Last night about 6:45 I broke a molar tooth. In trying to find an emergency dentist, one told me they only took on file patients. I took a chance and called Kitty Hawk, and got Dr. Kings after hour number. She picked up right away, and told me to come in at 8:15 next am, and gave me some advice to get me through evening. The next am I showed up and was surprised the office was closed. She came in on her day off, just her and she set me up with temp fix and will have permanent crown within 4 days. I so appreciate her coming out in the rain to take care of me first thing am. I have never had a broken tooth or emergency dental situation, and maybe this is typical behavior for a dentist, but I do appreciate no hassles, quick, professional service. read more

We have been with Dr. King for a long time. She is a very nice person and a highly skilled dentist. She is one of the only dentists that can properly numb me. She also answers the phone when you need to call her after hours. One thing I appreciate is that they don't pressure you into buying a product or service that you didn't go there for to begin with. I've always been a bit uneasy about going to dentists but feel very comfortable with her. I have mixed feelings on this one. Dr. King is a very good dentist, but her policies need some reviewing. When her office was broken into, I got a call four and a half hours before my appointment, telling me that it had to be cancelled. Not a problem, I understood why. When I had a project assigned to me at work, I called five and a half hours before my appointment to reschedule. I was told there was a $50.00 missed appointment fee. Really?? The receptionist she had at the time, was a little bit of a snot, so that really added to the decision to move to another dentist. I understand their time is valuable, but my time is equally as valuable. Sometimes, things happen that are out of our control. If you are not a chronic canceller, you should not be penalized, just like she was not penalized when something out of her control happened. read more

Dr. King seems to have a great level of integrity as does her staff. They don't recommend stuff that isn't needed and they are available for mishaps like a dislodged crown. We switched from another dentist in town a couple years ago, and are very happy with the service here. No complaints. Great job! read more

So, it's important to say that Dr. King seems like a nice lady. The office staff however.... Dr. King was recommended to me by another dentist due to her great location near my (then) new home in Livermore. I was ecstatic because my parents go to Dr. King, so it seemed like a natural fit. My dentist made me an appointment for the following week. I hadn't yet made the move to Livermore, so I was making a thirty minute drive over to the office for my 9am appointment. At 9:02 am I called to inform Dr. King that I was running about 5 minutes behind. The receptionist answered, and shortly scolded me for running late. She asked why I didn't heed the reminder message left on my voicemail from the night before. I said "Oh, I'm not sure if you have the right number, my old dentist set this appointment for me, could you read me back the number?" .... the receptionist said "No, I just deleted your file, this is the 3rd appointment you have missed" ((what?!?)). I said "Uhhh, there must be some mistake, I have never been to your office before... could you be thinking of a family member with the same last name?" She said AND I QUOTE "It doesn't matter, you're never welcome here again!" I said "Excuse me?" She said " Dr. King told me to tell you that you're never welcome to our office again." This lady was, hands down, the rudest person I have ever spoken to on the phone. And just plain mean and angry. Why receptionist, why do you hate your job? Her tone was arrogant and condescending. The very way she answered the phone was rude, as if the caller had some gall to interrupt whatever she was doing in an empty dentist office at 9 am. But it gets better... I called my mom, a patient of Dr. Kings, and told her what happened. For some reason, my feelings were really hurt that a complete stranger would be so rude to me and mama bear said "Oh, I know the lady you're talking about. She is always that rude. She hung up on me once when I called to ask about a discrepancy in the bill when she was charged twice for a cleaning. (wtf?). When I called back she said "I'm not giving you a free cleaning!" " To this, mama bear said "You charged me twice for the same work, on the same day. Why would I get my teeth cleaned twice in one day?" Needless to say, she never removed it!!! Wow. So Mama bear left it to the insurance to figure out. Turns out, my parents have been refusing to go there since, and I was lucky enough to have myself banned, so I quickly went back to my dentist. Shame on you mean receptionist. Happy to make the commute to Dr. De Ala (: Anyway, be warned... Don't get locked into the same bad service for a year until the next insurance registration term like the rest of my family. Great location do not make up for getting billed twice for the same dental work, shoddy client record keeping or bad customer service. read more

So I went to Kittyhawk Dental for the first time two days ago. They told me I need a root canal. The Dr sent me home with an antibiotic and I had already been taking Motrin and Tylenol for the major pain I was having. The pain is the worst I have EVER had in a tooth. She said the antibiotic should help. So 24 hours later on the antibiotic my face and neck were KILLING me! I called and was told that I need to wait 48 for the antibiotic to work best. So I waited until the next day(48 hours) and the pain is just as bad. So I called back and was told by the receptionist that the office was closed and there are no doctors there today. So she made me an appt for the next day!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me! I pay 87 dollars and can't even get help with pain until my root canal appt in a week????!!! So ticked! I have been crying it hurts so bad. I can't sleep and I just want to tell them to give me my freaking money back cuz I was told to call back 36 hours when they told me that after 48 and it doesn't help to call back ? That is an extra 24 hours of hell! At first when I called the receptionist was nice but now she was kinda rude and instead of calling one of the doctors in their day off to write a prescription for me she made me an appt for the next day! Why do I need to go to another appt? They already told me what needed to be done! I just need something for the pain for goodness sakes! This is the first time I have ever written a review for anything, good or bad. I guess when you are in such pain you want to vent. The doctor that I saw was really nice but she said the infection was really bad and there was possible bone loss. If she knew the infection was that bad did she really think I was not telling the truth about the pain? The receptionist never says goodbye on the phone either. I said thank You and goodbye to her 3 times when I was on the phone with her and she never says goodbye she just hangs up. To me that is kinda rude too. read more

Like many people I have never been particularly fond of visiting the dentist. I have a relatively small mouth with correspondingly small teeth. Historically speaking this has presented some challenges for me in finding a dentist that could perform the necessary work in the small space. I have not had any challenges or issues with this here. The doctor and her team always has the appropriate materials on hand for the work she is going to do. It is also apparent that she has a clear cut plan for the work she is going to do.
