His tone changed and said that they have been trying to contact Groupon for two years to remove their ad but they couldn't. Then he asked me to go back and call Groupon to ask for a refund. I called Groupon and they told me that this business is an active advertiser and they should have honored the offer. I moved to Livermore about a year ago and have been looking for a dentist. A couple of weeks ago a crown came off and I wanted to get it back on before traveling to the East Coast. This place was on the list with our medicare dental program. I got an appointment but after I went in the back and sat in the chair, and observed the surroundings . . . I should have listened to my instincts and taken the crown and run. But I didn't. That's my bad. And my bad for not looking at Yelp. First off, the office did not seem orderly or sanitary. There were things all over the place. Once I was in the chair no one put an apron/paper around my neck nor did anyone do so even during my procedure. There was no assistant. The "dentist" (and I use this term lightly) never tried to fit the crown on my tooth before attempting to glue it in place as every other dentist has done. Once she did, it was too high. Her solution was to drill and correct a crown that had been in my mouth for years. She said it might expose the metal and I would eventually need a root canal. Hmmmm . . . why? $$$ As all of this was happening all I could hear was her office manager(?) arguing with a customer for about 30 minutes. I think they were disputing a bill or something but he was not very nice. Called the customer arrogant and continued to argue with him. And when I left he said he hoped I'd have fun at my "event". My event is a family funeral. Needless to say I will not be going back. They don't even deserve the 1 star. I'm trying to figure out how to rip out the crown and go to someone else. I had two visits before to Dr. Buchanan for cleaning my teeth, and both times I was satisfied with the work done, so when it was time for the next cleaning I made an appointment with this doctor again. However, my last/third visit for a cleaning was just disgusting -- on returning home from the doctor, I found the remains of calculus and brown spots on my eight teeth(not on one or two teeth, which is also unforgivable, but on EIGHT) on their front side, and I was forced to clean them myself with a fine nail file :-0. She did not care as she described in other reviews--don't buy their messages for care and best resources. This is not true at all. On our first visit for cleaning, we waited for more than an hour. And when it's our turn already, they just did X-ray and told us to comeback for cleaning. We came back after 2 weeks for cleaning. The dentist did examination and suggested to take a picture of our teeth which cost $50 dollars each besides x-ray, which is not necessary in other dental offices. The dentist was able to convince my wife to take photos of her teeth. When we asked for a copy of those photos, the dentist said we cannot get a copy in a rude way and we can only take picture of those photos. And that's what we did. Their teeth cleaning was awful and very poor. Definitely not going back. read more

Very unprofessional. Dr Buchanan started the appointment with saying I was there for implants. I told her no, I was there for an exam and cleaning. I told her my oncologist wanted me to get clearance before starting another treatment. I felt like she did not believe me and first had to bring up an e-mail from Rose. I told her that was not me, that was not my phone number. She was not interested in finding the e-mails I had sent. She had her helper take x-rays. She came back in and said my teeth looked good. I told her I had breast cancer and again told her I needed clearance to begin another medication. She said my x-rays looked good. She turns to me asking what I wanted.... I told her an exam and cleaning... I asked her if she had time to clean them. She said yes, just needed a different set up. She began picking the plaque off my teeth. At that time she tells me how everyone in the US dies from breast cancer and began bashing Kaiser multiple times. (I am a Kaiser member) She proceeded to tell me how her mother and aunt in the Philippines, had breast cancer and had mastectomies, she told me "they didn't have no lumpectomy" they had mastectomies and are fine. She told me multiple times she would never go back to Kaiser, they only see you have $4000 for that year and order all sorts of tests and medications. They only want your money and she would go to Asia for any medical treatment. After picking my teeth for 5 minutes, she tells me I have 2 cracked crowns, cost would be $1200 each to fix. Told me the only thing "free" is a cleaning and x-rays. No mention of my co-pay or having a talk with the girl at the front desk to find out. I was assigned to her office through DeltaCare, (DeltaDental,Medicare). She told me her helper will polish my teeth. That was the "cleaning" The worse dental experience I ever had. read more

My husband needed to have a tooth extracted and Dr. Buchanan quoted us $450 over the phone for both the extraction and the bone graph. I even confirmed that amount with her a second time before the appointment just to make sure and also confirmed that it included both the extraction and the bone graph. When my husband went to the appointment she changed the price to $770 telling my husband that the $450 only included the extraction and the bone graph was an addition $320. When I called to discuss the charge she said it was a complicated procedure but my husband told me she said it was the "easiest extraction she ever did". If you're going to quote a price it should be honored and not changed at the last minute when you're about to do the procedure and have no other choice but to have it done. I can understand if the price is off a little but that's almost double of what she quoted us. read more

I've never been so pleased with the outcome of Dr. Buchanan's work. she replaced several crowns that showed the old metal material but what I couldn't get over is how she had the crowns shaped. They look like natural teeth, arched at the top and even at the bottom. I Have had my fare share of Dentists, very highly regarded but none of them We're apparently interested in getting the teeth to look straight or natural. Dr. Buchanan has made my teeth look so good that when I smile you can see how straight the back teeth are and white . Once again I have seen many Dentists through out my 56 years and none of them took them time to make the replacement of crowns looks cosmetically great. I just wished I had met her years ago ! Highly recommend Foothill Dental. I am a serious dental coward, just thinking about going gives me anxiety. Unfortunately, because of my dental anxiety, I had put off going until I had a serious issue with my tooth. My fiancé had a dental emergency during the middle of a Friday night when everywhere else was closed. When I called Dr. Buchanan, she was able to respond to my message at 1am and helped guide me through the steps of helping him through his pain. My husband and I went to her about a year ago and the staff was very friendly. We met with the dentist and she was great until she told me I had 4 cavity's and my husband had 3. at that moment we didn't have the money so we told them we'd have to come back. This will sound crazy but I actually look forward to going now. Dr Buchanan and her staff are great at their jobs but also they make me feel like family. After I relocated to the area I tried different providers, but they were either unprofessional or they wanted to sell me something I didn't want or felt that I needed at the time. My brother, who said Dr. Buchanan was "the best" recommended her to my daughter when she needed a dentist and after my dentist retired and I needed a dentist is when I decided to give her a try. What a great dentist and a great person, she really wants to take care of you and wants your teeth to look and feel there best. She spent a lot of time going over my x-rays and showing me what I needed to take care of now and in the future, it turns out these are the same things my previous dentist had talked to me about before he retired.
