I have adopted four different cats from Kitty Kat Rescue over the past ten years. Each of these cats have been the most loving, sweet kitties I have ever known. Laurie, the woman who runs this place, is absolutely amazing. You can tell she cares a LOT about her cats, and wants to make sure that every single cat she adopts out goes to their forever home. The fact that other reviewers are giving negative reviews because THEY had to re-home a pet is disgusting. At what point does you being a poor home mean that the rescue is at fault? You failed your cat and have only you to blame. Pinning it on the rescue, who trusted you to take care of their cat, is cruel. There is no rescue in the world that can take every single cat out there. It just cannot be done. There are millions of stray, homeless cats. Blaming a rescue for not having unlimited funds and room for cats is silly. This is fantastic rescue, and they don't deserve negative reviews for something they cannot help.

Mattie is available as of 5/27/13!

Kitty Kat Rescue is one of the best no-kill animal rescues I've volunteered for. I've been volunteering at various animal shelters, both general and no-kill, since I was a teenager and they are not all equal! I came across this one by accident a few years ago when I was shopping at the Petsmart off Power. I'm one of those, gotta go look at the animals up for adoption people, even though I don't need anymore pets. The volunteer suggested that since I like to come in and look I should consider volunteering for them. I've now volunteered at KKR for over two years for at least one day a week. As a volunteer its great because since the rescue is no kill you know that if a cat is gone it means it got adopted. The hours are really flexible and duties are straightforward. She's always looking for volunteers so if you're in the area and over 18 yrs of age consider helping out =) Laurie is the founder and she is amazing. I've never seen a woman work as hard as she does. She spends every waking hour dedicated to her cause. She tries very hard to place cats in families where they are good matches for. I've seen her refuse to do an adoption many times because she doesn't think the cat is right for the family, and while this may upset some people in the end this is about the animal, not the people. We see too many cats brought back or dumped places because the family "didn't like it". Another thing I love about this rescue is she will NOT adopt out a sick cat. My boyfriend and I adopted our last cat several years ago from a county shelter and he came to us with an infection that spread to our other two cats. Laurie scrutinizes the cats and cleanliness of the facility every day. If she see's a kitty starting to look sick she takes it out immediately and puts him in her home or in foster and nurses it till it heals. I also like how she will always take a cat back if a family decides they don't want it. She really makes a commitment to her cats to find them a forever home and when something doesn't work out she tries again, and again! Prices are also very reasonable, she has each cat examined by a vet, all of their shots and vaccines are up to date, they are all spade/neutered, and if a cat ever needs an extensive surgery..she scrapes the money together. Cat prices range from 50-100 and sometimes more if she gets a special breed. Considering the length of time she keeps many of these cats (sometimes years), the surgeries and vet bills she pays for, and the high quality food she feeds them...this is cheap. If you are looking for a kitty consider adopting from KKR. Thank you Kitty Kat rescue for all you do!

They are lovely people doing something most of us wouldn't have the courage, patience, nor determination to do on a daily basis. They rescue literally hundreds of cats and kittens. We sincerely thank them for all they do, and so do the two cats we rescued through them. Because of Kitty Kat rescue, they are healthy and happy kitties living in their forever home.

I adopted my baby Freddy (previously known as Batman) 3 years ago at an adoption event at petsmart. He is the sweetest and most loving cat I've ever owned. When I got him I didn't own a cat carrier but had everything else needed, Lori ended up giving me one of her very own cat carriers, free of charge, that I still use to this day. You can tell this woman really does love her kitties and wants what's best for them!

I was abandoned on the streets of Tempe, but now I have a great life thanks to Kitty Kat Rescue.

I adopted my cat from Laurie in 2011. My cat is a Scottish Fold who was called Mona. I renamed her Scotia after I got her home. This cat is the joy of my life and I have Laurie and Kitty Kat Rescue to thank for that. I had lost my 20 year old cat about a year before the adoption and was just looking to see if any rescues might have a Scottish Fold because I loved the breed. To my surprise there were 3 at the rescue. Very quickly two of the three disappeared off the website, so when the one left was still there after a week I finally called Laurie to inquire about adopting the Scottish Fold she had. However, I told her due to my job and night shift work I couldn't possibly be there until the following Tuesday (This was a Friday.) Dispite having been burned by holding cats for people that flaked in the past, Laurie decided I could be trusted, she held the cat for me and I arrived the following Tuesday. That was the first day of my love affair with one of the funniest, sweetest and by far the "coolest" pet I have ever had. Even people I know who don't like cats can't help but love my cat. I have to give Laurie at Kitty Kat Rescue and her crew all the props in the world. They lovingly care for and nurture their cats so that they are well adjusted, socialized and make great pets. She provided all of the cat's medical records to me, including an x-ray (which was negative) due to my cat's odd habit of holding up one of her paws like it is injured. That's a lot of money to put out and only get back a $175.00 adoption fee for this special breed that typically comands from $900.00 to $1800.00 if purchased from a Cattery. I wasn't sure if I was ready for another cat until contacting Kitty Kat Rescue. It was the best move I made that year and I highly recomend to anyone considering an adoption from a rescue, use this one. The pet you get will be healthy, well adjusted and ready to receive all the love you have to give. Thank You KKR!

i am getting my son into the wonder hobby of fish! hes 3 so ITS TIME!…read more We had just left one other aquarium that was, WOOF, and im so glad i stopped in here. First, the staff are young and super personable! quirky and friendly. one staff was particularly sweet, Courtney. She let my 3 year old bother her. he gets so excited "LOOK LOOK" and she played along, i really appreciated that. The fish looked so great and healthy They only had 2 bettas BUT they were in small tanks, not cups, and well cared for! one was in a planted tank, i am sure it was a red hellboy, it was a beautiful set up and great display. please sell me the whole display. the other was a remarkable black betta! i GREATLY appreciated their respect of all living fishes and they are really raising the bar for betta care in retail environment. When we are ready to buy, ill be back to courtney, she and i planned out a great 10 gallon community tank! im stoked. The also have meds on hand which, we all know, can be hard to find good products and great prices!

The salinity measured only 1.021, which is below safe level for a reef tank. Because I needed to use the water before my trip, I called the store around noon to ask what salinity they mix their water to and whether I could receive a refund or replacement if I was accidentally sold the wrong solution. I went to the store so I could demonstrate that I had not used the water and to work toward a reasonable solution before discarding it. The employee working that day was new, working alone, and genuinely did everything she could to help me. She was kind, patient, and professional throughout the entire interaction. Unfortunately, she had very limited authority and had to repeatedly contact the owner for direction. My disappointment is not with her, it is with the ownership and leadership. While there, we tested the water together. Their refractometer read approximately 1.024, while my calibrated tester consistently read 1.021-1.022. I recalibrated my tester in front of her and received the same results. I wasn't demanding confrontational or disrespectful. I tried to compromise. I requested either a refund or, at the very least, a store credit since the product was less than 24 hours old and unusable for my aquarium. The owner declined both requests. Instead, I was offered only two options as a "one-time courtesy": * Dump the water and refill the container with more of the same water that day. * Return within one week for a replacement. Neither option was workable because I was leaving town the following day. I even asked if the one-week timeframe could be extended since I would be away, but the answer was no. I also asked to speak directly with the owner. I was told he was too busy and would call me later. What makes this even more frustrating is that the store has a posted 14-day return policy, to which should apply to this product per the small print, and this purchase wasn't even 24 hours old. The one-week limitation I was given did not appear to align with the store's posted policy or with what I believe is reasonable customer service. To verify my equipment wasn't the issue, I stopped by Kona Reef and tested their premixed saltwater with my calibrated tester. Their water measured 1.025, confirming that my tester was reading accurately. This isn't really about an $8 purchase. It's about accountability, consistency, and standing behind the products you sell. I made every reasonable effort to find a fair compromise, but I left without a workable solution. If you value customer service and ownership that stands behind their products, I would encourage you to consider this experience before choosing to do business here.
