She always spends time with the pets, grooming them, playing with them, feeding them, and - how much is this worth? - cleaning up after them. She also takes in our mail and newspapers, opens and closes drapes, turns lights on/off, and keeps the house looking lived in. Recently, while at a wedding out of town, our cat needed emergency vet care. Our sitter whisked her off to the vet the same day, got her treated and administered medication daily until we were home, and communicated with us the entire time. She was GREAT! I had never used a pet-sitter before, but had already set up Pets 'n Plants. I was even thinking of cancelling my whole trip, but they reassured me that they had dealt with sick animals before (they had been recommended by my vet) & they would give me a daily call to keep me apprised of the situation. I can't tell you how much their competent attitude helped me get on the plane! Karen, who was assigned to my cats, was very professional and competent (they have forms they fill out on every aspect of your pets/home/needs) & was able to give my cat all his medication in a no-nonsense way. She played with them so much so that when I returned, I swear they looked disappointed & seemed to be wishing that nice lady would come back! I originally started coming here for training with Ria when I brought home a new puppy and my other two dogs were not getting along with him. Through her training, all of my dogs have developed the skills they needed. The training is ongoing and I've been able to go at a pace that works for my schedule and budget. I now feel much more in control of my dogs' behavior. All three of my dogs are reactive in different ways and the training has made a huge difference. Ria is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to explain things in a way that actually helps me understand what I'm doing and why. She's also very consistent, which I really appreciate. I've worked with other trainers before, but it never felt like an ongoing relationship where I could ask questions or continue learning like I can with Ria. We've done both individual sessions and group reactivity classes and I love that my dogs get to practice being around other dogs in a structured, non-judgmental environment. I've seen real progress in each of them. One has improved with aggressive and overprotective behavior, another has built confidence, and my third has gained obedience skills and improved socialization. I also use their daycare for my youngest dog and he absolutely loves it. He's been going for about six months now. He comes home happy and tired from physical activity and mental enrichment. The facility is great, the staff are caring, and I love getting photo updates. It's also a big plus that they have grooming services on-site. It gives me extra peace of mind that the facilities are all indoors and they work closely with the vet next door in case of an emergency.
