    Shaved cat
    Lisa S.

When Olya began Kitty Spaw mobile cat grooming, she was wonderful. The first two times I used her, she came to the door, wore a mask, met the cat, discussed with me what kind of grooming I wanted; She took the cat to her truck, and returned the groomed cat to me at home. My cat looked great and seemed relaxed and happy. Olya seemed like a real pro. The third time I called for an appointment, her business model had changed radically. It seems that her business grew big fast and she had gone corporate. I couldn't speak with her by phone, I was pushed to the website to set an appointment. The earliest appointment was two months away. I tried to call her to ask some questions and to discuss my senior cat's care, but she does't take calls. She has an office assistent who communicated with me only by text. This assistant was not helpful, and told me that Olya will not come to my door, I have to bring the cat to her, that Olya is not available to talk to me, that she's too busy. She pushed me to decide what kind of grooming I wanted, but I wanted a consultation with Olya to get her professional opinion about the best options for grooming a 19 year old cat with arthritis. When I received the text to bring the cat to the truck, Olya had arrived an hour early for our appointment. Fortunately I was ready to meet her, and dragged my cat to the truck in her carrier. I am a senior with some disabilities and shlepping the heavy cat in her carrier was a hardship. The truck parked half a block away despite there being plenty of open, free parking in front of my door. When Olya opened her truck, I saw another assistant working with her there. This was new. Olya told me that shaving is more stressful than bathing for cats, and talked me into getting my cat a shampoo and a shave for $195. When we spoke, she seemed annoyed and stressed by my need for a brief consultation; she was not the friendly person I remembered dealing with. While the cat was in the truck, the office assistant kept texting me to send more and more medical information on the cat - rabies vaccination certificate, recent vet office visits. I sent everything she wanted. I wonder why they waited until the grooming service was in progress before asking for this information. I know they have my cat's previous records from when services were previously rendered. Forty-five minutes later I received a text to get the cat. I was told to pay online and received a text from the office with a link to their payment page. This time the cat was upset and went into hiding. The last time she was groomed, she was happy & relaxed and jumped out of her carrier and headed right for the food dish for a bite. Later that day I noticed dandruff on my cat's back. I texted Olya to ask if the had shampooed the cat, and if so, had she used water or a dry shampoo. Olya was offended and responded that she used water and a quality shampoo and no one had ever complained before. I explained that I just wanted to know what kind of care the cat had received that could account for the dandruff. Olya "yelled" at me in her reply text that I was to blame for never having bathed my cat before, and that Olya had left her in "waaaaaaay" better shape than she had found her, and she couldnt' clean the cat thoroughly because the cat was so dirty. I found this assertion odd because the cat lives indoors, a pampered, brushed, loved housecat. It occurred to me that in 45 minutes Olya clipped her nails, cleaned her eyes and ears, shampooed her, dried her, and shaved her entire body. The cat didn't have one damp hair on her when she was returned to me, which seemed odd. As I petted her that evening I found a pile of small mats under her chin on her neck. I was curious how Olya could have missed this mess. I am suspicious as to whether or not my cat received the care I paid for. Now that the business has turned user unfriendly, I will seek another cat specialist. As with vets, I look for one who cares for the human guardian as as well as for the pet. These animals are family and our concern for them is real. I find that Kitty Spaw has turned into a service which has lost its way. I'm very sad about that.

    Raffi, fresh and happy!

Olya was amazing with my little Raffi At first, I was really nervous because of other groomers in the past. Raffi HATES getting his nails cut or being handled for too long. So that was always an issue with others. But, she was so patient with him and made him feel so comfortable and relaxed. I saw right away that he liked her. I was shocked! I loved that he was purring like a kitten when she was done with him. He was like a whole new cat, which told me a lot about her expertise. For a domestic long hair, I knew Raffi would need something to help keep him cool for summer, so she recommended a comb cut to start. But I've been considering getting him the lion cut next time. Then he'll really feel like the king of the house lol I highly recommend Olya and will be using kitty spaw for now on! Thank you so much for helping Raffi!

Because of this, I decided "heck, I can afford for someone else to do this if it makes my life easier." I could not be happier with the deals and multi-visit packages being offered here. For $400, I got a total of 10 visits for the year! Granted, she is on the mini side of things, but if you look at prices literally anywhere else... this kind of deal is unheard of. To top this all off, my Pebbles is an anxious chatty type and a drama queen all in one, which has been a frequent complaint we have received from other groomers since she was a puppy. Here, she's heard and appreciated as a funny little girl with a big heart and personality. I also included some pics of my girl for reference on the price that I paid. AND for all dog parents reading this, keep in mind the price also varies by the weight of your furry friends.

He always comes back smelling well and they give him a seasonal handkerchief around his neck. Little touches that made the pricey de-shedding and grooming fees worth it ($125 for a grooming of large dog, 85lbs). I wanted to simply address this to a manager via email to show photos, but their contact form on the site is impersonal and gives no email address and no opportunity to upload photos. On his last visit on Friday, my dog came home panting and not wagging his tail. I just thought he missed me, but it felt out of place, more like a "hyperventilation" type panting. I didn't think anything of it until the next day, as I was petting him, I felt bloody scabs across his head. Till today I find more that's hidden in his long fur. I'm super sad because Andy's has done a great job with his de-shedding, and I know it's no easy task with his fur. But, he is the mildest-mannered service animal for kids with autism. He doesn't bite or bark or squirm, so to have big gashes like this on multiple parts of his skin after a grooming is a red flag. I won't be sending him to Andy's anymore. Very sad about it, but this isn't how you treat a dog or long-time customer. You disclose the cuts and address how to help treat them.

I asked if they knew how to groom goldendoodles and was told "yes". The result was not indicative of that. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. I'm giving two stars because the owner is nice and they are great prices but for us it was a you get what you pay for situation. I do want to note that they asked how they could fix it, but there seemed to not be an understanding of how to get our pup to the look we were somewhat looking for because I understand all costs are different and the picture wasn't entirely possible. Not to mention, I've been traumatized trying to cut my dog's nails and accidentally cutting them too short I decided to finally hand all of it off to a professional groomer. A friend recommended Moe as a mobile service and after a couple of hikes and two dogs full of dirt, we decided to give it a shot. It was the first time I hired a mobile groomer and honestly, it was great. Communicated all through text and set it up super easy. Moe was reliable and showed up within the promised timeframe. I made sure he had a parking spot for his grooming van and the dogs hopped right in. They got trimmed up with a clean cut and I swear our dogs looked like they lost weight. They smelled great. Dogs were happy, I was happy. Win, Win. Moe was great and did a fantastic job on both dogs. I highly recommend these guys, especially if you're feeling like giving your dog the very best. It was a little more expensive than the store, but it was way more convenient having them come to me. It was worth every penny. Will definitely have them roll through again.

On one occasion, the ear infection was also accompanied by a bacterial skin infection. I shared this as a health concern about my dog, not as an accusation. Shortly after raising that concern, I learned my account had been flagged and I was no longer allowed to book appointments. During my conversation with management, it was mentioned that my dog had shown some "aggressive" behavior. This had only ever been brought up to me once in the past, very briefly and in a way that did not seem serious at the time. There was never any indication over the years that continued service would become an issue. I apologized if my concern came across harshly, but the groomer Julie ultimately decided not to continue service. After a decade as a client, I'm disappointed this was the resolution. My intention was simply to advocate for my dog's health. I also have to be honest that the haircuts were often not quite what I hoped for, but I continued going because they were my dog's first and only groomers until now. Our dogs are our best friends. They rely entirely on us to protect them and speak up for their well-being. I never expected something so important to turn into such an uncomfortable situation. Given how this was handled, I would not recommend this place.. Toby

Updating this from 2 to 3 stars since this was addressed personally by the manager…read more I honestly wish I would have read the more mixed/negative reviews on Google before bringing my rescue dog here. She was testing out the place for a few days and we started off by leaving her 1-2 hours a day, she was nervous of course, as a dog should be going into a new place. The weekend crew were extremely kind to her when she barked and calmed her down. But come Monday, there was a new person in the den and instead of trying to calm an anxious dog, he squirt her with a bottle multiple times to get her to stop barking. Which if you know anything about dogs, you should never do that to an anxious pup. We really liked it up until today, so just beware. Thankfully we were able to watch it all on camera and picked her up the second we felt it was getting out of hand. A note for the owner - please try to find alternative ways to help a dog who is struggling to settle. Spraying them in the face and chest multiple times is an ineffective way to stop an unwanted behavior. This is extremely detrimental to their behavioral development and only causes more fear.
