My daughter just bought an old home a few blocks away from the store. So close by it would have been nice for the hardware we needed if they were not so rude. As I was shopping, my wife needed to use the bathroom. She was told that it was only for the employees and she would have to go elsewhere, no exceptions. We are in our 60s and sometimes things just come on. I told them that if they can't be a little flexible, then I will take my business elsewhere. They responded that that was fine with them. Have always received excellent help at Kitz & Pfeil in Fond du Lac. Once, I needed a very narrow paint scrapper. After purchasing their narrowest scrapper, one of the employees cut it down to the size I needed. They have helped me find odd size screws and matched chips of paint. Kitz & Pfeil has been my first choice for a hardware store for over 40 years. read more

5 star service! The paint department is incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. They can match any color of paint and lighten or darken to your liking. Parking is not an issue. Also very knowledgeable for anything else you would possibly need from a hardware store. Great selection! read more

I came in on Friday June 12 in the morning, looking for paint colors and eventually paint. I choose a few options and I went to the paint counter. The man behind the paint desk asked if I needed something and I said I need paint, but I first need to decide on the colors. He said to me, "I have no idea about choosing colors, all I can do is mix the paint" and he walked away. I went home with the paint swatches and returned within the hour, with my decision made on two colors. BEFORE, I returned, I debated whether I should go to Menards instead based on the poor service I had, but I decided to support a local business. However, that turned into a waste of time on my part. I went to the paint counter and was there for 10 minutes with NO ONE coming to assist me. Even though the cashier was steady busy and they were even two other people called up for questions. Mind you, the cashier to the counter is about 20 feet and they saw me, but continued to ignore me. Needless to say, I left and went to Menards and was helped right away. I will NOT be going back here again in the future, the BIG BOX store is so much better and ACE prides themselves on being the "helpful place", not in Fond du Lac! read more

When it comes to paint, these guys are amazing. I went to them last week looking for a quart of touch up paint that I purchased from them 8 years ago. We were able to track down the color and get an exact match. I was able to get another quart of touch up of a different color by bringing in a chip of the old paint. They are very knowledgeable and patient. I would highly recommend them when painting! read more
