Guess what? My husband and I don't have kids and we still come here and love it. We have been to the petting farm the past 2 years and highly recommend it. So cute for children and adults alike. A nice variety of animals and they are all well taken care of. They have toys, treats, books, and games. All kinds of gifts for everyone in your life. If you visit, you just might feel like a kid again!

We've been wanting to stop at the yellow smiley barn for years. It's close to my son's birthday, so we stopped on our way to Madison. It's really easy to get on/off 94 & conveniently located by lots of other shopping & food options. The store barn is a kid's dream with so many different options of play, from outdoor, dress up, dice, board games, build, puzzles, and more. Don't forget the chocolate, fudge & candy to make your experience complete. They are two levels. Upstairs is mostly Playmobil & you can have a hands on experience. There is a little Lego corner displaying dream sets, too. The barn does price match on Playmobil sets. We were looking for a new game & asked the nice gentleman for new ideas & trends. Maybe the owner? He was very nice & helpful. We ended up purchasing the happy salmon game, which is a family fun game. Even if you're not in the market for a new game, check out the cute ambiance. The prices I thought were pretty reasonable as well.

On our way to the Smiley Barn from HWY 94.

What a nice toy store. Loads of toys, games, and books for all ages. There is a candy corner too. Only complaint is the candy corner could have more brands and unusual flavors. But boy is it nice to have the smiling barn back! Thank you for making the trip between Madison and Milwaukee a whole lot friendlier!

I truthfully thought my mom was lost as we were navigating through what felt like a mixture of abandoned offices and libraries, but we did come to a shop in the back. Upon entering the door, we were greeted by a friendly gentleman. He pointed out samples of the toffee and roasted pecans. There was four toffee and four roasted pecans. He explained each one to us and a few of them were award winners. He asked us to try them all if we wanted. The four of us all LOVED the rosemary pecans. The toffee was good, and I'll be back in the future to get some of that. Overall great options and really appreciate the friendly service and extra explanation on products.

The "best" local place that was open in January was The Chocolate Chisel. My family and I stopped and each got a cone. I also got three truffles. The truffles I bought were chai tea milk, experimint milk (ganache with peppermint extract), and peppermint hot chocolate. The chai tea and experimint milk truffles both tasted like they should based on their descriptions, but I wouldn't wantto buy either again. The peppermint hot chocolate had some crushed peppermint on top, but other than the chocolate being in the shape of a mug, nothing about it reminded me of hot chocolate. Ultimately I don't think any of them were worth the price. The ice cream was lackluster. Both of my kids got cookies and cream in a cake cone and thought it was skimpy on the cookies part. My wife and I sprung for waffle cones with ours and were both disappointed in the excessive cone to ice cream ratio that heavily favored the cone. She got plain chocolate and it was fine. I, however, got banana-rama and ended up throwing it out because it tasted more like butter pecan than anything banana related. I even went back inside and verified with the employee that it wasn't mislabeled in the case.

Date of visit: July 28, 2025…read more I stopped in here as I am leading an effort to find local vendors that we can order from as part of a holiday gift effort for some of our customers. I perused the store and selected brittle, taffy, and chocolates as part of a taste testing for the whole team to determine which items were the best to consider as gifts for our customers. Staff was friendly and accomodating, and even offered me a sample after I completed my purchase. Oddly, despite spending about $70 and explaining what I was doing with my purchases, I didn't get a receipt. I dropped an email to the store and received a quick reply and was provided with a picture of the receipt that was quite small and blurry, though thankfully our AP department didn't question it too much and I still got reimbursed for the purchase! And if you were wondering, the taffy was surprisingly good, but wasn't labeled on the package in terms of what flavors were in each bag, so that was a big turn off for our taste testers. The chocolates were a big hit and will be a finalist for our customer gifts!

I read about Burke moving in to this Whitefish Bay location, so I wanted to give them a try. I really wanted to give them the highest rating, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Super cute shop. Has a nice old time feel to it. Walking in to the place, you find a large selection of many different confections. The "factory" is at their other location downtown Milwaukee. Got greeted by two friendly staff members. Very helpful at explaining the different items and offered to allow me to sample (I did have one piece of the peanut butter crunch). You can either get individual items from the case, or there are pre-packed items on the other walls. I got a mix of different items. Ones that I have found can be a big tricky to make. Fairy Food, Marshmallow, and Caramel. And to be honest I was a bit disappointed. Summer can be a hard to time to make/keep sponge candy (fairy food), and some places don't even make it this time of year because the humidity can make it sticky. Marshmallow has a short shelf life and can get tough. This was exactly my experience with these two items. The chocolate itself was very good. And the presentation was also very impressive wit the other items. They did wrap up everything in attractive cellophane bags with ribbon, and placed in a gift bag with a custom ribbon. Perfect for gift giving. So overall a good (but not great experience). I would stop back again, but keep away from some of the humidity sensitive items.
