Took my friend here to celebrate her birthday and we had a blast! They have a great selection of drinks and menu options. We each got a variety of rolls and were happy with each of them. Our server was very attentive and even brought out dessert and a candle to my friend. The vibes were great - I hope to come back soon! Highly recommend Kizami Sushi for a dinner with friends or a date night.

This was my first time going to Kizami and based on this experience, I will definitely be coming back! When I entered, the first thing I noticed was how cute and Japanese-inspired the whole place was. From wall decor, to themed chop sticks, the cutest street-style bar I've ever seen, and a bathroom that is actually worth going to. Our server was also extremely polite and helpful the entire time. I ordered drinks and the avocado roll off of the happy hour menu- which you do not want to miss out on. So many options for food and drinks and it goes until 6pm! In total, I tried the piña chata drink, M&M drink, baby godzilla roll, avocado roll, and sweet potato roll. The drinks were fresh and tasty (piña chata was pleasantly sweet and M&M was fresh). Even though I am not used to much sauce on the sushi rice, the sushi rolls were good and hit the spot. Kizami is definitely worth going and to fair warning, it does not have a huge dining area, so make sure to get there early for happy hour.

We were seriously craving some good sushi, and since it's always hit or miss in Chicago, we're usually a bit hesitant to try new places. But we stumbled upon Kizami Sushi and were immediately drawn in by their mouthwatering sushi photos. We decided to make a reservation and check it out for dinner. This cozy little spot in Lincoln Park seats around 30 people, and while it's small, it's beautifully decorated and feels very traditional and intimate. Right away, we were impressed by the atmosphere. We started with the Shumai, which turned out to be some of the best we've had. Just a tip--make sure to eat it while it's hot, because it cools down fast and you'll miss out on how good it is fresh. For sushi, we ordered the Salmon Reunion, Hamachi Serrano, and the Godzilla Roll. All of them were fantastic, but the Hamachi Serrano and Godzilla were our favorites. The sushi was fresh, light, and packed with flavor--what we really appreciated was that nothing felt overly complicated or weighed down with too many ingredients. It was clean and well-balanced. They also have an impressive selection of wine, sake, and cocktails. We noticed a few interesting desserts on the menu too, but we were way too full to try anything else--next time for sure. Overall, Kizami Sushi totally exceeded our expectations. Great sushi, great vibe, and definitely a spot we'll be coming back to explore more of the menu.

While staying in Chicago we ordered from this place on Uber Eats. Food was packaged well and really good. Ordered the teriyaki salmon which came with a salad and miso soup, the sweet potato sushi roll and steamed gyoza. Very yummy!!

Always wanted to try this place out and I finally did. This is not a huge restaurant so it maybe best to reserve ahead of time if possible or come early. The service was alright, our waitress was nice and came around when needed. The food was good. You can't go wrong with sushi! The drinks on the other hand were decent. The expresso martini could be better, but I'm not complaining. They had some interesting fruit cocktails as well. With the dim lights and good vibes around, everyone was enjoying their meal. Would come back again if I'm in the area!

I heard great things about this place so it had been on my list for a while. I made a reservation a few days before, which I would recommend. It has a relaxing and casual vibe--good for a date night or dinner with friends. We were seated promptly. However, I think they were short-staffed because the service was quite slow. We did not order drinks because we were getting hungry after a long wait. We also never got our water glasses refilled. Overall the service was disappointing. We ordered 6 different rolls to share among the 4 of us. The Godzilla roll was by far my favorite--rich, flavorful, a little spicy, with a slight crunch. Also loved the fish trio and spicy tuna rolls. Pricing was pretty standard for Chicago, and it came out to about $30 per person including tip. If I were to return I'd get takeout for sure.

Solid sushi spot in Lincoln Park. I've been here twice - once on a Monday evening and once on a Sunday late afternoon. The Monday evening was really busy and we had a short wait for a table. Sunday was more recent and we got there soon after they opened and were the only ones at first (it got busier later) They have HH on food and drinks from 4-6pm. I got a roll, nigiri, edamame, and a beer. With tip, it was just over $30, which isn't bad. My friends had a variety of drinks and food and all enjoyed it. Service was friendly and prompt. It's not a huge spot so I can imagine there's a wait at peak times. Will def be back!

Solid Sushi spot located in Lincoln Park. Every time I come here, the service has been friendly and quick. I do like their interior a lot. There's not much to it honestly, but the darker vibes with the string lights just makes it a perfect date spot in my opinion. They have candles at the tables and if you're able to snag a table by the window, it really is perfect to take someone here on a date. All of their sushi is pretty good overall from what I've had so far. I'd say my two biggest pros about this place is that they are open late. No seriously, they are open much later than a lot of Sushi places around. Chicago notoriously closes a lot of restaurants early which is extremely annoying being a major urban metropolis, but this place is the opposite. Craving Sushi at 11pm? COME here. The pro is that they are technically a BYOB establishment. They DO however serve alcohol, but if you have your own beer, you can bring it, just expect to pay a $1 fee per bottle/can you bring in. I think there is a corkage fee for wine as well, but not sure how much. Either way, that is an awesome perk. I'll definitely return back here if I find myself craving sushi pretty late. There's also a lot of bars in the area so it's a good place to walk around if you're in the mood for drinks elsewhere as well.

This is the most unhappy of the happy hours. It is truly sad from the service to the food to the ambience. I'm not quite sure how this spot gets so many raving reviews, but as a true foodie and an avid yelper, I would not recommend this place at all. My bestie who has not had sushi in a long time was craving for some and since we were parked close by and never ate here before, we thought we would check it out. The happy hour runs from 4-5:45 but the prices were unhappy. I would say the prices were the same or even more than a normal sushi menu . The staff I believe were Thai gave us quite a lot of attitude . The sushi we ordered were drenched in sauce ( fire dragon and Chicago rolls almost tasted identical) The gyoza for happy hour was heavily deep fried and the shishito peppers were burnt to crisp. My bluefin tuna( happy hour $10) was very very unfresh( no sauce to hide the bad taste) The best thing was probably the seaweed salad!! The total came to 74 before tax! Not happy at all.

The 5 star reviews don't lie! This place is unassuming from the outside but has amazing sushi. We've been to a lot of sushi restaurants across the city, and Kizami is one of the best. The Tom Yum Miso Soup is a perfect mix of the two types of soup and different from any spicy miso we've had. We also got the Premium Sashimi Bucket where the fish was so fresh and sashimi cuts were generous. You can also request things off of the menu like custom hand rolls. At the end of the meal, Patcha, the owner, came by and gave us a great little sake tasting. 10/10 definitely recommend! read more

This place is a hidden gem! Quality of the sushi was excellent and they have this amazing appetizer, the Tuna Poke. I expected a bowl of tuna with chips on the side. Not at all, Much prettier and tastier. I wish I had taken a picture! Each chip had toppings on it, beautifully spaced and a generous portion. It was pieces of tuna, avocado, and mango with a spicy and sweet sauce that covered every piece perfectly. It was the quality of a 5 star restaurant! Service was great, very friendly. Please support this restaurant during the pandemic - they are currently (per Chicago rules) able to seat a couple tables on the inside, so you don't have to freeze! read more

This place is always packed so I finally tried it out & it definitely lived up to its hype. The vibe is a cozy hole in the wall with about 8 tables & a sushi bar. When weather permits there's also a few outdoor tables for seating. The service was spectacular, we had a small issue w one of the items and they were so quick to help fix everything and even removed the item from our tab (which we didn't even ask for so that was extremely kind of them). We ordered the house mild dry hot sake for a drink, Shishito peppers , chicken gyoza , regular & hot miso (Very SPICY) soups for appetizers. Everything was delicious, . For mains we ordered the Salmon Reunion, Spider , Salmon Belly & Toro . I eat sushi at least once a week & the Salmon Reunion was one of the best and most flavorful rolls I've ever had (you have to get this). The Toro was also incredible, super fresh & tender (just melts in your mouth) . I highly recommend this spot , great with friends , family or a date. read more

I come here quite often because it's the best quality sushi in town. I've gotten sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, sake, miso soup and seaweed salad and it's not only consistently great quality but also fresh and good portions! Got seated, it was really busy so i understand that they were packed. No one came to get our order for 15 mins until we flagged waitstaff. We ordered easier apps like edamame and miso soup of which we had to flag staff another 15 mins later bc we thought they forgot about us. Not until we spoke with who appeared like the manager did service actually pick up. Despite this, we had to ask for silverware, soy sauce, hot sauce of which the hot sauce was never given. We had to flag waitstaff 2x for water refill. Food quality: stick with sushi. DO NOT ORDER THE CHICKEN TERIYAKI - the chicken quality was poor. I get places are understaffed. If you are then reduce who you serve or those that haven't made a reservation a week in advance. read more

This is without a doubt my favorite sushi restaurant in Chicago. I could go on and on about this place. The sushi is extremely fresh and they get so creative about their rolls. I'd highly recommend ordering their Midnight Tokyo roll or any of the nigiri or sashimi, honestly it's all so good, you can't go wrong. Also the mango mochi is perfect for dessert. I've been here many times and I'm always so impressed. They care a lot about their sushi and make a big effort into creating a unique experience for their guests. I went last Saturday with my boyfriend and another couple. We were in Lincoln park for the Zoo lights, and needed to find a place to eat beforehand. We walked in and the place was super busy, but luckily they were able to seat us right away at the sushi bar. The service was great, and the rolls were surprisingly filling! I ordered Kizami's Poke Bowl and it was sensational! The super white tuna was very fresh and the bowl itself tasted very refreshing. It also came with a side salad and a miso soup. The salad was so fresh and and crispy and the dressing that came with a salad was probably the best dressing I have ever had! I would buy that dressing itself if they sold it. I'm really upset with this place. Their poke bowl was advertised on Door Dash as having only fish, avocado, green onion, sesame seeds, and rice. However, when I got it, it was served with pineapple and something else that was gross and green that looked like pickles mixed in. Because my flight arrived in Chicago late, I can't order anything else from a different place because by the time anything new arrives, it will be well past 10pm. I wish that they had just advertised this correctly or else I never would have gotten it. I really want a refund but I don't know how to get one. The bowl cost like $20, too, which is expensive for a poke bowl of this size anyway. read more

Excellent! We ordered the spicy miso soup which had just the right about of spiciness, a few poke bowls which tasted fresh, and they threw in a free mochi for dessert which were very delicious (and appreciated). The presentation was also very impressive, especially for takeaway items. The owner is very nice and generous, and the atmosphere is super cute and inviting. Sooooo yummy! Place looks really cool inside, waiter and waitress were so sweet - great customer service. Love the ambiance. Our meals both came with a house salad and a miso soup - both were flavorful and delicious. I ordered the Thai taste poke bowl and it was out of this world! So flavorful i couldn't even understand all the flavors bouncing around in my mouth I loved it!!! My dad got the salmon teriyaki which was also delicious! The waiter explained that it's sushi grade salmon and that's why it tastes so delicious :) need to come back and get a sushi roll! read more

We have been a few times and for happy hour. Overall the service is great, but the sushi quality is not consistent considering the price. Hamachi Serrano (yellowtail appetizer) had little to no flavor. We had the spicy tuna and spicy salmon and both rolls were blended up and loosely placed in the role. It did not seem like good quality authentic sushi that you would expect for the price of the rolls. read more

This place is amazing. It's owned by an adorable couple who clearly have a passion and taste for good Japanese fare. The vegan options are to die for, the meat options are to die for. Everything is much more delicious than you would expect from such a small establishment. And to top of the experience, I had the best Mochi I have ever had In my entire life here tonight. Truly incredible. And they apologized for the long wait by knocking 30$ off of our bill!!!! Who does that?!? We were happy to wait as it was but this was truly so kind and above and beyond service. I believe about 5 appetizers, followed by many sushi courses, 1 hand roll and finally a delicious cheesecake for dessert. I was super full around course #8 and my husband had to start helping me out even though it was all so good. It wasn't the best sushi I've ever had, but really good by Chicago standards. We were sitting next to a lovely couple from Seattle where they do have a really good fresh sushi and they were fans too. The presentation was so fun that you'll definitely want to keep your phone handy to take pics and videos. And the staff was upbeat, hilarious and so nice! They also kept the sake flowing. They do offer other drinks, but we really didn't need to order on top of all of the sake. Our total ended up being around $400, which is pricey for a meal for 2 but felt like it was a show plus sushi...and such a unique experience. First of all, it's intimate to the extent that the restaurant itself is in a renovated suite in the Lincoln Hotel. There's no sign. If you don't have a reservation, you're not eating there. The space itself only holds 12 or so people plus the three staff members which consists of a mixologist, a maetre d' and your sushi chef. The room itself is designed to make you feel like someone dropped a sushi bar in your living room. It's clean, homey and comfortable. The service was impeccable, as it should be when you've got maybe up to 8 people to take care of... the mixologist (Ivan?) and maître d' (sadly, I can't recall her name) were both friendly and helpful, and only engaged when you needed them. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary, and purchased a "Date Night" package - which included the 17 course meal and a drink flight. It was $150/pp but it was worth every penny. It was a perfect amount of food, and the three drinks we were served (vodka, tequila and gin based) were all delicious. The wife and I each ordered one more drink, and when they presented us with the bill, it was exactly what we expected. They even included the gratuity on the bill, and we both agreed it was well worth the money for the whole experience. Our sushi chef, Ken, was awesome. Again, I've sat at sushi bars a million times, but to have a chef prepare each piece by hand, just for you and 5 others, while explaining the process, the fish, etc.... was a pretty amazing. The sushi was delicious, even though I couldn't tell you the names of all of it.. Ken was hard to understand at times, but the wife and I got the gist of what we were being told, even if we didn't quite catch the names of all the pieces. Scroll through my pictures... I tried to fill in some of the blanks. All-in-all, it was an amazing time. Plan for a whole evening because even though there is inherently a time limit due to the nature of their business, you never feel rushed. It was relaxing and laid back and allows you the time to really enjoy every sip and bite of your meal.
